To compare soft tissue dimensional changes and relative differences in soft and hard tissue volumes 4months after single-tooth extraction and three different treatment modalities spontaneous healing (SH) and alveolar ridge preservation by means of a deproteinized bovine bone mineral and a collagen matrix, with (IMPL/DBBM/CM) or without (DBBM/CM) immediate implant placement.
STL files from study casts obtained at baseline and after 4months were matched to calculate buccal soft tissue linear and volumetric changes. DICOM files from CBCTs were superimposed to STL files allowing the evaluation of soft tissue thickness at baseline and 4months.
Mean horizontal reduction accounted for 1.46±0.20 (SH), 0.85±0.38 (DBBM-CM) and 0.84±0.30 IMPL/DBBM-CM, with no statistical differences. Soft tissue thickness had a significant mean increase of 0.95 for SH group, compared to a non-significant mean decrease for DBBM-CM (0.20) and IMPL/DBBM-CM groups (0.07).
A preservation technique with DBBM-CM, with or without immediate implant placement, did not reduce the horizontal linear and volumetric changes at the buccal soft tissue profile significantly at 4months after tooth extraction when compared to spontaneous healing. This is due to a significant increase in soft tissue thickness in spontaneously healing sites.

Using an integrated model of health literacy, we discuss the importance of health literacy among foreign domestic workers in the provision of informal caregiving during outbreaks of communicable diseases. COVID-19 pandemic is used as an example.
Adequate health literacy in the population is known to be important for the prevention of communicable diseases. Foreign domestic workers, a group of marginalised caregivers in private households, are generally presumed to have limited health literacy because of numerous socio-cultural disadvantages. To date, there is limited evidence that these informal healthcare providers receive support from community-based nurses.
A discursive paper.
Foreign domestic workers, with varying levels of health literacy, may be viewed either as a resource to break the chain of infection or as a potential reservoir of communicable diseases in the community. Meanwhile, restrictions imposed in response to diseases transmissions (e.g. stay-at-home measures for COVID-19) may directleracy, by engaging groups of foreign domestic workers in the community and their consulates in planning educational programmes and effectively disseminating information. At a time of global pandemic, an assessment of the health literacy levels of foreign domestic workers in places like Hong Kong is urgently required.
To use a poststructuralist framework to critique historical, social and institutional constructions of emergency nursing and examine conflicting discourses surrounding suicide prevention. The aim is to also demonstrate practical guidance for enhancing emergency nursing practice and research with regard to suicide prevention.
Emergency departments have been historically constructed as places for treating life-threatening physical crises, thereby constructing other "nonurgent" health needs as less of a priority. Physical needs take priority over psychological needs, such as suicide-related thoughts and behaviours, negatively impacting the quality of care that certain groups of patients receive.
A theoretical analysis of the published literature on the topic of emergency nursing and suicide prevention was conducted and analysed using a poststructuralist framework.
Relevant literature on the topic of emergency nursing related to suicide prevention was analysed for a poststructuralist construct of power, lthe dominant discourse of emergency care.
How a poststructural framework can be used to expand emergency care is discussed. Examples include empowering nurses to challenge the "taken-for-granted" emergency nursing and recognizing the health needs that fall outside of the dominant discourse of emergency care. This study explored whether there were long-term hearing and vestibular outcome differences between five pairs of identical twins who had been infected with the congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection before birth. Data were collected from the medical records at the Audiological Clinic, Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm. The congenital CMV infection resulted in high variations in vestibular and hearing function within, and between, the genetically identical twin pairs. Clinicians need to be aware that treatment and interventions may need to differ substantially when identical twins have hearing issues related to the congenital CMV infection.
To explore primary research evidence reporting the reason for undergraduate nursing students' engagement with social media as an extracurricular activity.
The formal integration of social media into nursing education has been discussed extensively in previous research. SMIFH2 nmr The influence of social media on nursing students' learning and class engagement has also been explored. However, despite the growing volume of literature examining the formal use of social media by undergraduate nursing students, a broader perspective on how and why nursing students engage with social media as an extracurricular activity has not yet been explored.
An integrative review.
A systematic search was performed to find articles published between 2007-2019 using Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, Ovid Emcare and CINAHL Plus databases and the Google Scholar search engine. The review process is reported according to PRISMA.
Twelve papers met the inclusion criteria, revealing that undergraduate nursing students engaged with social media for nts engage with social media in order to optimise their professional development. Understanding how nursing students' professional identity develops via social media may be used to help sustain nursing students and support their transition into practice.Iodoarene catalysis is a powerful methodology that usually requires an excess of oxidant, or of redox mediator if the terminal oxidant is dioxygen, to generate the key hypervalent iodine intermediate to proceed efficiently. We report that, using the spiro-cyclization of amides as a benchmark reaction, aerobic iodoarene catalysis can be enabled by relying on a pyrylium photocatalyst under blue light irradiation. This unprecedented dual organocatalytic system allows the use of low catalytic loading of both catalysts under very mild operating conditions. The recently delineated structure- and reactivity-based concept of antivitamins B12 has begun to bear fruit by the generation, and study, of a range of such B12 -dummies, either vitamin B12 -derived, or transition metal analogues that also represent potential antivitamins B12 or specific B12 -antimetabolites. As reviewed here, this has opened up new research avenues in organometallic B12 -chemistry and bioinorganic coordination chemistry. Exploratory studies with antivitamins B12 have, furthermore, revealed some of their potential, as pharmacologically interesting compounds, for inducing B12 -deficiency in a range of organisms, from hospital resistant bacteria to laboratory mice. The derived capacity of antivitamins B12 to induce functional B12 -deficiency in mammalian cells and organs also suggest their valuable potential as growth inhibitors of cancerous human and animal cells.New nature-inspired and plant-derived p-hydroxycinnamate esters and p-hydroxycinnamate diesters provide excellent protection against UV radiation when incorporated into a matrix. Herein, an efficient and sustainable pathway is reported to graft these phenolic compounds onto cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) via click-type copper-catalyzed azide/alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction. The successful grafting of the phenolic esters on CNC surface was evidenced by a range of chemical analyses, and the degrees of substitution (DS) of the CNC were found to depend on the structure of the phenolic ester grafted. Moreover, aqueous suspensions of the phenolic ester-grafted CNCs not only strongly absorb in both the UVA and UVB regions, but they also exhibit average to very high photostability. Their wide spectrum UV-absorbing properties and their stability upon exposure to UV are highly influenced by the structure of the phenolic ester, particularly by the extra ester group in p-hydroxycinnamate diesters. These findings demonstrate that cellulose nanocrystals decorated with such plant-derived and nature-inspired phenolic esters are promising sustainable nanomaterials for anti-UV applications. Many analyses of biological responses to climate rely on gridded climate data derived from weather stations, which differ from the conditions experienced by organisms in at least two respects. First, the microclimate recorded by a weather station is often quite different to that near the ground surface, where many organisms live. Second, the temporal and spatial resolutions of gridded climate datasets derived from weather stations are often too coarse to capture the conditions experienced by organisms. Temporally and spatially coarse data have clear benefits in terms of reduced model size and complexity, but here we argue that coarse-grained data introduce errors that, in biological studies, are too often ignored. However, in contrast to common perception, these errors are not necessarily caused directly by a spatial mismatch between the size of organisms and the scale at which climate data are collected. Rather, errors and biases are primarily due to (a) systematic discrepancies between the climate used in analysis and that experienced by organisms under study; and (b) the non-linearity of most biological responses in combination with differences in climate variance between locations and time periods for which models are fitted and those for which projections are made. We discuss when exactly problems of scale can be expected to arise and highlight the potential to circumvent these by spatially and temporally down-scaling climate. We also suggest ways in which adjustments to deal with issues of scale could be made without the need to run high-resolution models over wide extents. The reaction of bicyclo[1.1.0]butyl pinacol boronic ester (BCB-Bpin) with nucleophiles has been studied. Unlike BCBs bearing electron-withdrawing groups, which react with nucleophiles at the β-position, BCB-Bpin reacts with a diverse set of heteroatom (O, S, N)-centred nucleophiles exclusively at the α-position. Aliphatic alcohols, phenols, carboxylic acids, thiols and sulfonamides were found to be competent nucleophiles, providing ready access to α-heteroatom-substituted cyclobutyl boronic esters. In contrast, sterically hindered bis-sulfonamides and related nucleophiles reacted with BCB-Bpin at the β'-position leading to cyclopropanes with high trans-selectivity. The origin of selectivity is discussed.
