World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.
Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough tokens in order to do this. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can waste many resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC that upgrades items. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear that can be upgraded up to eight times. Every time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition, which requires the player to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like the chance to crit attack damage, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
Whenever item upgrades is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand-new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For example, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment will require different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost listed above.
