76) for coronary artery disease, and 2.11 (1.44-3.12) for cardiovascular disease (similar results were found for maximum intima-media thicknesses of the internal carotid artery). HRs(95% CIs) for heterogeneous plaque versus no plaque were 1.58 (1.09-2.30) for total stroke, 1.25 (0.58-2.70) for hemorrhagic stroke, 1.74 (1.13-2.67) for ischemic stroke, 1.84 (1.03-3.19) for lacunar infarction, 1.58 (0.80-3.11) for nonlacunar cerebral infarction, 2.11 (1.20-3.70) for coronary artery disease, and 1.71 (1.25-2.35) for cardiovascular disease. Conclusions Maximum intima-media thicknesses of the common carotid artery, maximum intima-media thicknesses of the internal carotid artery, and heterogeneous plaque were associated with the risks of stroke, lacunar infarction, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular disease in Asians.Infertility is a significant global health issue affecting around 8-12% of couples worldwide with male factor infertility accounting for a substantial proportion of these cases. Despite significant advances within the past few decades, an etiology for male factor infertility cannot be identified in up to 80% of patients and thus, this continues to be an area of active study. This review aims to provide an update on recent advances in the field of male infertility including semen analysis and at-home semen testing, genetics, DNA fragmentation, surgical approaches, and the rise of telemedicine in the era of COVID19.
To clarify the correlation between preeclampsia and parity and to identify protective factors against preeclampsia in multiparous women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

We conducted a single-center, retrospective chart review study of 85 pregnant women. We used multiple logistic regression analysis to assess the association between parity and preeclampsia in women with SLE, and described the detailed clinical courses and management of four women with a history of severe preeclampsia and of a woman who experienced preeclampsia during her latest pregnancy.

Multiparity was significantly associated with a low risk of preeclampsia (adjusted odds ratio 0.08; 95% confidence interval 0.01-0.95). One multiparous woman without a history of preeclampsia developed preeclampsia during her latest pregnancy; she had critical risk factors for preeclampsia, including chronic kidney disease and hypertension, and was not administered aspirin. In contrast, four multiparous women with a history of severe preeclampsia received adequate medications; they did not develop recurrent preeclampsia and delivered live newborns.

Multiparity and maintenance therapy for SLE before and during pregnancy and preventive treatment for preeclampsia may improve outcomes in subsequent pregnancies.

Cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE), 1 of 3 H2S producing enzyme, is predominantly localized in the vascular endothelium. However, the regulation of CSE in vascular endothelium remains incompletely understood. Methods and Results We generated inducible endothelial cell-specific CSE overexpressed transgenic mice (EC-CSE Tg) and endothelial cell-specific CSE knockout mice (EC-CSE KO), and investigated vascular function in isolated thoracic aorta, treadmill exercise capacity, and myocardial injury following ischemia-reperfusion in these mice. Overexpression of CSE in endothelial cells resulted in increased circulating and myocardial H2S and NO, augmented endothelial-dependent vasorelaxation response in thoracic aorta, improved exercise capacity, and reduced myocardial-reperfusion injury. In contrast, genetic deletion of CSE in endothelial cells led to decreased circulating H2S and cardiac NO production, impaired endothelial dependent vasorelaxation response and reduced exercise capacity. However, myocardial-reperfusion injury was not affected by genetic deletion of endothelial cell CSE. Conclusions CSE-derived H2S production in endothelial cells is critical in maintaining endothelial function, exercise capacity, and protecting against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury. Our data suggest that the endothelial NO synthase-NO pathway is likely involved in the beneficial effects of overexpression of CSE in the endothelium.COVID-19 pandemics required a reorganisation of social spaces to prevent the spread of the virus. Due to the common presence of fever in the symptomatic patients, temperature measurement is one of the most common screening protocols. Indeed, regulations in many countries require temperature measurements before entering shops, workplaces, and public buildings. Due to the necessity of providing rapid non-contact and non-invasive protocols to measure body temperature, infra-red thermometry is mostly used. Many countries are now facing the need to organise the return to school and universities in the COVID-19 era, which require solutions to prevent the risk of contagion between students and/or teachers and technical/administrative staff. SP2509 This paper highlights and discusses some of the strengths and limitations of infra-red cameras, including the site of measurements and the influence of the environment, and recommends to be careful to consider such measurements as a single "safety rule" for a good return to normality.Loneliness and isolation are concerning consequences of social distancing and other stay-at-home orders for older adults globally, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. To combat loneliness and isolation among older adults residing in California, the Keck School of Medicine collaborated with other health profession schools at the University of Southern California (USC) to create the Age-Friendly Student Senior Connection (AFSSC). A total of 115 interprofessional graduate students were linked with older adults. Students engaged in 30 to 60 minute phone calls with older adults 2 to 5 times per week for 6 weeks. Student preparation included asynchronous video and web-based learning, weekly synchronous de-briefing sessions with a participating faculty member via Zoom, phone, and e-mail support from faculty, and information about resources for older adults. Faculty held weekly meetings throughout the pilot and developed new resources to respond to older adult needs, as reported by students. A total of 102 students completed pre-program and post-program surveys.
