Reasonable streamflow at the Guanting Reservoir need to be above 65 m3/s to ensure the streamflow can pass through Beijing and significant groundwater level recoveries of 170 million m3 through EWR. The developed models can improve the understanding of the interaction between surface water and groundwater and provide a quick assessment of the factors influencing the different EWR schemes and thus aid in effective EWR project management.Human occupation of and alteration of the world's coast has transformed large stretches of it into Coupled Human-Natural Systems (CHANS) in which humans both influence and are influenced by coastal evolution. In such systems, human activity is as critical on natural resilience as processes and sediment supply derived from the natural setting. Pre- and post-storm observations of these interactions on the intensively developed Atlantic coast of the Gulf of Cádiz, (Spain and Portugal) are examined to determine natural and engineering resilience. Three case studies are used in three CHANS, showing that human interventions interact in complex ways with the natural system influencing post-storm recovery. In natural coasts, storm impact is assessed in terms of geomorphological response; on developed coasts, it is quantified as damage to infrastructure or loss of amenity. Preparedness, availability of resources, choice of response and the speed at which human agencies respond affect resilience for post-storm beach beisaster or emergency. The intervention of human in phosphorus pool seems to be a vicious circle. The rapid population growth leads to the global food shortage, which leads to the massive use of phosphate fertilizer and the continuous exploitation of phosphate rocks. With the massive loss and fixation of phosphate fertilizer in the soil, the unavailable phosphorus in the soil becomes superfluous, while the phosphate mineral resources turn to scarce. Interestingly, exogenous carbonaceous materials, notably, biochar and humic substances, have been widely used as soil conditioners in agricultural production up to date, among other actions to interfere with the balance between the different phosphate species, which offer effective roles for increasing soil available phosphorus. This article reviews the regulation mechanisms of biochar and humic substances on phosphorus availability and circulation, including improving soil physicochemical characteristics, regulating microbial community structure, and directly interacting with phosphorus to affect the fate of phosphorus in soil. Finally, the prospects for future research directions are made, and it is hoped that the review of this article can arouse people's attention to the current plight of agricultural production and provide some methods for improving the efficiency of phosphate fertilizer use in the future. The disappearance of submerged aquatic vegetation caused by the use of purse seine in productive fishery has aroused the attention of the national government. In order to restore aquatic vegetation, the government has removed the seine nets on the Huayanghe Lake's surface. Here, fourteen cruises were conducted in the Huayanghe Lakes from 2016 to 2019 to study the response of water quality and phytoplankton communities to rapidly recovering aquatic vegetation. The results showed that the restoration of aquatic vegetation increased the Secchi depth (from 65.36 to 105.52 cm) and dissolved oxygen (from 8.98 to 12.17 mg/L), while the concentration of total nitrogen (from 0.98 to 0.53 mg/L), and total phosphorus (from 0.04 to 0.02 mg/L) decreased, resulting in a 35.3% and 11.6% reduction in the total phytoplankton density and chlorophyll ɑ, respectively. In addition, the restoration of aquatic vegetation significantly increased Shannon-Wiener diversity, Margalef richness indices by 51.6% and 40.1%. We also observed that phytoplankton density exhibited significant changes based on nonmetric multidimensional scaling analysis (NMDS). In Lake Huangda, the coverage of aquatic vegetation was as high as 80%. We also observed that after the restoration of aquatic vegetation, the proportion of cyanobacteria decreased significantly by 21%. Our study emphasizes that aquatic plants can alleviate eutrophication and increase the diversity of phytoplankton, thus providing guidance for the restoration and protection of water ecosystems in the lakes connected to the Yangtze River.Groundwater is the sole water supply source on Jeju volcanic island in Korea and increasing levels of nitrate contamination have raised serious public concerns. This study was objected to understand the nitrate contamination mechanisms of the coastal groundwater overlain by a low-permeability layer in the western part of the island. The 2-yrs of quarterly groundwater monitoring from Sep. 2016 to Oct. 2018 revealed that NO3-N concentrations of 60.7% of sampled wells exceeded 10 mg/L, and those of 17.8% in the range of 3-10 mg/L, indicating those wells are already contaminated or under influence of potential sources. The spatio-temporal variation of groundwater chemistry and stable isotopic signatures suggested that nitrate originated mainly from chemical fertilizers due to agricultural activities and in part from liquefied manure affected by local livestock industries. Two transport processes appeared to be responsible for the nitrate in the confined coastal aquifer 1) the direct penetration from the land surface through the wellbore leakage at incompletely grouted wells, and 2) the addition of nitrate-contaminated groundwater from upgradient areas where the confining layer is pinched out. Presently the potential nitrate sources are distributed up to 600 m above mean sea level(amsl), and the isotopic signatures implies that the provenance of coastal groundwater could be upland areas of up to 1280 m amsl. Subsequently, nitrate sources at upland areas could be picked up and carried down to the coastal groundwater under the confined condition of the basaltic aquifer that the regional groundwater recharge occurs. RXDX-106 in vitro Consequently, groundwater contamination in the coastal aquifer should be considered in the big picture of groundwater system accommodating both regional and local flows.
