Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all of its leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). item upgrading can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. Item level is a popular measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell item upgrade , players can compare the level of an item. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller is possible using the item's level.

On PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.


However, this is not the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. This is particularly useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items are available from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
