Starbucks coffees are mainly produced in Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific. These regions are known for their full-bodied flavor, balance of acidity and weight. Starbucks also purchases coffee from St. Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean, a volcanic tropical paradise.
Starbucks coffee beans are roasted to perfection, resulting in the perfect, smooth taste. The coffee beans are then ground into a fine powder, which is ready for brewing. The powder is mixed with water and put into the cup to make the perfect cup. The result is a cup of espresso that is bursting with flavor and energy.
While most Starbucks coffees are blends of different beans, there are many kinds of single-origin varieties available at the chain's stores. Roast

The beans begin to steam when they are placed in the roaster for the first time due to their internal moisture. Then comes the "first crack", an audible sound that signals us that the real roasting has started. At this point the sugars begin melt and the bound-up water escapes. At this point, the structure of the beans is broken down and the oils begin to flow outward. At the end of this phase the majority of coffees are considered to be city roasts.
The beans that were roasted are then cool and are then separated from any stones or other impurities that have been removed from the roaster. They are then examined by hand before being packed and sold. Some beans might have a dark spot referred to as a quaker, these beans did not change colour and consequently taste burnt as is a normal event and doesn't mean the coffee is bad however it could be an unpleasant surprise in your cup of coffee.
Most often, beans are cooked in small batches, sometimes as small as 20 pounds at a time. They are referred to as "micro-lots". This is because every coffee is roasted according to specifications developed by a team of masters of coffee at Starbucks headquarters. The team of coffee masters designs profiles that are used in all Starbucks(r), roasting facilities around the globe. These profiles ensure that each cup of coffee is consistent and has a certain degree of body, flavor and aroma.
Flavor
Starbucks buys their beans from the farm they are sourced from to aid in improving quality and ensure ethical sourcing. They also plant a coffee tree for every one pound of beans sold. The beans aren't labeled with their origins, however some blends are. Veranda is from Sumatra; Komodo Dragon is from Indonesian; and Anniversary is a blend of the African and central American beans.
