Our objective was to explore the socio-cultural factors that influence women's early and adequate utilisation of antenatal care (ANC) in rural Bangladesh.

A qualitative study was conducted in two rural settings of Bangladesh, including 32 in-depth interviews with pregnant or recently delivered women, husbands whose wives were pregnant or had a recent birth, mothers-in-law whose daughters-in-law were pregnant or had a recent birth; 2 focus group discussions with husbands; and 4 key-informant interviews with community health workers. We used thematic analysis to analyse the data.

ANC initiation in the first trimester was not a priority for most women. Women's lack of awareness about the appropriate timing of the first ANC contact, lack of decision-making autonomy and fear of caesarean section were the major barriers to the early and adequate ANC utilisation. There were many superstitions around pregnancy in rural settings which prevented women seeking early and adequate antenatal care and led them to seek care from traditional care providers instead of formal care providers.

ANC utilisation in rural Bangladesh was associated with several socio-cultural beliefs which are modifiable with interventions that have been used in similar settings. Targeting these socio-cultural barriers with context- and community-specific interventions is important to improve overall ANC utilisation at the community-level which can lead to significant improvements in perinatal outcomes.

The task to align the set of external terms in EHRs to TB can be regarded as entity alignment without structure information. Conventional approaches mainly use internal structural information of multiple knowledge bases (KBs) to map entities and their counterparts among KBs. However, the external terms in EHRs are independent clinical terms, which lack of interrelations. To achieve entity alignment in this case, we proposed a novel automatic TB enrichment approach, named semantic & structure embeddings-based relevancy prediction (S2ERP). To obtain the semantic embedding of external terms, we fed them with formal entity into a pre-trained language model. Meanwhile, a graph convolutional network was used to obtain the structure embeddings of the synonyms and hyponyms in TB. Afterwards, S2ERP combines both embeddings to measure the relevancy. Experimental results on clinical indicator TB, collected from 38 top-class hospitals of Shanghai Hospital Development Center, showed that the proposed approach outperforms baseline methods by 14.16% in [email protected] disorder of X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH), results in the supressed renal production of active 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25(OH)2D) due to elevated fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) levels. While adequate 25(OH)D levels are generally associated with improved mineralisation of the skeleton independent of circulating 1,25(OH)2D levels, it is unclear whether raising 25(OH)D to sufficiently high levels through dietary vitamin D3 administration contributes to improving bone mineralisation in the murine homolog for XLH, Hyp mice. Three-week-old male Hyp mice were fed one of four diets containing either 1000 IU (C) or 20,000 IU (D) vitamin D3/kg diet with either 0.35% phosphate or 1.25% phosphate (P) until 12 weeks of age (n = 12/group). When compared to C-fed mice, D-fed mice significantly elevated serum 25(OH)D levels to 72.8 ± 4.9 nmol/L (2-fold, p less then 0.001) and increased both cortical bone mineral density (15%, p less then 0.01), and vertebral trabecular BV/TV% (80%, p less then 0.001), des required in XLH patients to establish the role of increasing 25(OH)D levels in improving bone mineralisation.It is well known that high-level exposure to cadmium can cause bone disease such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia and fractures. The aim of this study was to examine if cadmium exposure in the general Swedish population causes other bone changes than decreased areal bone mineral density as measured by traditional DXA technology, e.g. changes in microstructure and geometry, such as cortical thickness or area, cortical porosity and trabecular bone volume. The study population consisted of 444 men, aged 70-81 years at inclusion year 2002-2004, from the Swedish cohort of the Osteoporotic Fractures in Men Study (MrOS). Cadmium was analyzed in baseline urine samples (U-Cd). Different parameters of bone geometry and microstructure were measured at the distal tibia at follow-up in 2009, including examination with high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT).
