Available sleep deprivation studies lack data on simultaneous changes in hypothalamic, cortical and body temperature during sleep deprivation and recovery. Ten adult male Wistar rats chronically implanted with electroencephalogram, electro-oculogram and electromyogram electrodes for recording sleep were used in this study. Hypothalamic and cortical temperatures were measured by pre-implanted thermocouples. A radio transmitter (TA10TAF-40, DSI USA) was implanted intraperitoneally to measure body temperature. All the temperatures were measured simultaneously at 15-s intervals during baseline conditions, sleep deprivation and recovery sleep. Sleep deprivation was carried out for 24 hr by the gentle handling method; however, sleep and temperature were only recorded during the first 12 hr of deprivation. During sleep deprivation the body, hypothalamic and cortical temperatures increased significantly as compared to baseline. During recovery sleep, body and cortical temperature recovered earlier than the hypothalamic temperature. Hypothalamic temperature remained higher than the baseline values throughout 12 hr of recovery sleep. In the recovery sleep, cortical temperature decreased immediately and reached near baseline by 4 hr. We observed a quicker return of cortical temperature towards control temperature during recovery sleep compared with hypothalamic and body temperature. The results of the present study show that acute sleep deprivation results in a rise in both cortical and hypothalamic temperature, along with body temperature. A rise in cortical temperature may be a contributing factor for cognitive dysfunction resulting from sleep deprivation. © 2020 European Sleep Research Society.As electronics dramatically advance, their components should be fabricated for miniaturized scale, and integrated on limited-size substrates with extremely high density. To address these problems, herein, a new direct and vertical interconnection driven by selective dewetting of a polymer adhesive is introduced. The interconnection system consists of the polymer adhesive and nanosized metal particles, or structured electrodes. Nanoscale-dewetting windows formed by controlling the stability and wetting property of the adhesive polymer are controlled by the interfacial property of the coated polymer adhesive. The adhesive is coated on substrate by a simple spin-coating process, and its ultraviolet curable property allows only the device-mounted parts to be selectively conductive and sticky, while the other parts form insulation and protection layers. The interconnection of the electronics and substrate by adhesive makes it possible to apply the technique to various microsize electronics with electrode size and pitch of 20 µm or less, and endure dramatic temperature change and a long-term high humidity environment. For this purpose, a multifunctional thiol and a photosensitive alkene with an o-NBE chromophore are cured upon visible light exposure without inducing a premature photocleavage of the o-NBE links. Once the network is formed, a laser beam source with a wavelength of 375 nm is used for selectively inducing the photocleavage reaction of the o-NBE groups. Positive tone patterns are directly inscribed onto the sample surface without the requirement of a subsequent development step (removing soluble species in an appropriate organic solvent). Along with the realization of dry-developable micropatterns, the chemical surface composition of the exposed areas can be conveniently adjusted since different domains with a tailored content of carboxylic groups are obtained simply by modulating the laser energy dose. In this paper, a simple and rapid HPLC method for the separation of Ramosetron and its related enantiomeric impurity under hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography mode is presented. Chiral resolution was performed on an analytical column (100 mm × 4.6 mm i.d.) packed with 3 μm particles of cellulose-based Chiralpak IC-3 chiral stationary phase. Using a mobile phase containing acetonitrile-water-diethylamine (100100.1, v/v/v) and setting the column temperature at 35°C the resolution value was 7.35. At a flow rate of 1 mL min-1 the enantioseparation was completed within 5 min. The proposed method was partially validated and it has proven to be sensitive with LOD and LOQ of the (S)-enantiomer impurity of 44.5 and 133.6 ng mL-1 . This article is protected by copyright.
