Dietary and biochemical parameters such as serum 25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, magnesium, and potassium play a role in disease progression. This study aimed to compare the nutritional status and biochemical profile of patients with and without MS. Methodology This case-control study included a total of 112 participants (56 in the control group and 56 in the MS group). The participants' socioeconomic and demographic profiles, nutritional status, and biochemical details were all gathered using history, patient files, and records. The effect of these parameters on the presence of MS was evaluated using a decision tree model. Student's t-test and Mann-Whitney U test were performed to compare these parameters. Results A decision tree model was developed with an accuracy rate of 86.52%. The vitamin and mineral intake of the groups showed significant statistical differences (p = 0.001). The differences were important in terms of biochemical parameters, especially serum levels of 25-dihydroxycholecalciferol and potassium. Conclusions The key parameters that varied between MS patients and the control group, according to the constructed decision tree, were serum levels of 25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and carbohydrate intake. Nutritional measures against MS can be taken based on the decision tree.Glioblastoma (GB) is the most frequent and aggressive primary tumor of the central nervous system (CNS) in adults. Standard treatment is complete tumor resection followed by concomitant radiochemotherapy (RCT) and subsequent adjuvant temozolomide (TMZ). Information about brain tumors statistics in Latin American countries is scarce, so we aimed to measure the overall survival (OS) of patients with resected GB in a single institution in Chile. This is a retrospective report of 67 patients treated between 2012 and 2019 with resected GB and who received adjuvant treatment with radiotherapy (RT) with and without TMZ during 2012-2019 in this center (Chilean NCI). Most of them were men (72%), ages > 50 years old (57%), with Karnofsky performance status (KPS) scale ≥ 70% (94%) and recursive partitioning analysis-IV (RPA-IV) (60%). Some 54% received concomitant TMZ and RT. Median OS was 11.4 months, with 1-, 2-, and 5-year OS of 48%,15%, and 3% respectively. In conclusion, in patients with GB treated with RCT at the NCI, OS was the same as expected from international articles. FI-6934 Adjuvant RCT therefore is considered the standard of care at NCI.Colorectal perineuriomas are rare benign fibroblastic polyps of the colon found on colonoscopy and usually present as a sessile polyp distal to the splenic flexure. We report a case of sessile sigmoid perineurioma in a young healthy male. He presented with chronic constipation and underwent colonoscopy, which showed a 3-4 mm sessile polyp in the sigmoid colon. Biopsy results were significant for a perineurioma. These polyps are peripheral nerve sheath tumors composed of bland spindle cells with ovoid nuclei in a whorling appearance. The differential diagnosis of these nerve sheath tumors includes ganglioneuromas, schwannomas, neuromas, neurofibroma, or Schwann cell hamartomas, and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). While these polyps are regarded as benign, it is prudent to rule out other tumors that have malignant potential.Daratumumab (dara) belongs to a class of monoclonal antibodies that target CD38 receptors expressed on multiple myeloma (MM) cells. It was first approved for MM treatment in 2015. The efficacy and safety of dara have been reported in many studies. In this analysis, we assessed the outcome of dara addition to standard of care for transplant-eligible newly diagnosed (ND) MM. We conducted a comprehensive search using PubMed, ClinicalTrial.gov, and Embase. Out of 435 articles, we included two randomized clinical trials. We computed the odds ratio (OR) of response rates and risk ratio (RR) of adverse effects using Cochrane RevMan version 5.4. A total of 1,292 patients were enrolled in both trials. The patients were randomized into the control group and the dara group. The dara group included 647 patients and the control group included 645 patients. The CASSIOPEIA trial reported the outcomes using dara, bortezomib (V), thalidomide (T), and dexamethasone (d) versus VTd. The GRIFFIN trial underlined the efficacy of dara, lenalidomide (R), and Vd in the dara group versus RVd in the control group. A pooled analysis of included studies showed an increased overall response rate (OR 1.60; 95% CI 1.06-2.41; p = 0.02; I 2 = 65%), stringent complete response (OR 1.59; 95% CI 1.24-2.05; p = 0.03; I 2 = 0%), and negative status for minimal residual disease (OR 2.47; 95% CI 1.97-3.10; p less then 0.01; I 2 = 66%) in the dara group as compared to the control group. However, an increased risk of neutropenia (RR 1.80; 95% CI 1.60-2.03; p less then 0.01) and decreased risk of peripheral neuropathy (RR 0.92; 95% CI 0.86-0.99; p = 0.02; I 2 = 52%) were observed in the dara group. Dara addition to the standard of care regimen for transplant-eligible NDMM has promising outcomes with increased efficacy and safety profile and manageable toxicity.Gout is the most common crystal arthropathy and is frequently diagnosed and managed by primary care physicians. Smoking is a well-recognized risk factor for many health issues; however, its association with hearing loss has been a debate. Some studies have shown a positive association while others did not. In this study, we aim to identify the effect of cigarette smoking on hearing in our population.

This cross-sectional study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan from August 2020 to March 2021. Five hundred male smokers (n = 500), with a history of smoking for more than three years between the ages of 21 and 50, were enrolled in the study via consecutive convenient non-probability sampling after informed consent. Five hundred male non-smokers (n = 500) were enrolled as a reference group. Audiometry was performed in a soundproof room.
