Replacement UPVC Door Handles
You can find the perfect handle for your door, whether replacing your existing handles or adding additional security. These upvc handles are easy to install and meet the 92mm centers required by multipoint locks.
The most important measurements to take into consideration are the backplate fixing centers and lever/key hole dimensions. Make sure you compare these to your existing marks before ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad door handles are made up of a lever handle on one side and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. They are designed to work with key wind locks although they can also be adapted to multipoint split spindle door locks (though you'll need a separate dual spindle lock case).
Once you have chosen the correct handle for the doors the finishes will be displayed in the drop-down menu. Not all styles of handles are available in every finish and you should always look over the technical drawings and sizes sections for the particular product you are looking to ensure that you can get the correct size and fit.
It is essential that when choosing a new set upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the centre of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because these need to be aligned in order for the doors to stay locked, whether you are looking at them from the outside or inside. The handles we offer are designed to work with most standard cylinder locks, but you should always double-check before making a purchase.
If you are looking to upgrade to dual spindle levers you will need to remove the handles that are currently in use and then take apart the lock case. This will require an additional split cylinder inline. These are available separately and we have the complete technical diagram to look at in the images for each product.
After you have removed the screws that are holding the handle on your door, it is a good idea to loosen them and examine the mechanism to determine the condition it is in. It is possible that you will need to loosen the screws further if they are not tight. Then you can take off the old handle and spindle and put in your new upvc door handle. It is essential to ensure that the handle is in the proper position prior to screwing it into place. You can do this by placing your finger between the door frame, and the handle to make sure that it's level.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles function as a multi point lock using an Euro cylinder and are found on the majority of double doors made of aluminium, upvc doors, and some wooden doors. They feature an inside lever and a paddle on the outside and are usually supplied in two different types. Sprung - These come with a spring cassette within the backplate that helps bring the handle lever into an upright position. Non-sprung: They do not have a mechanism to spring the handle lever to a horizontal position.
To fix the door handle of a lever that is sagging it is necessary to find the hole for access to the detent or pin, which is typically an elongated or rectangular shaped hole or protruding pin that is located on the opposite side of the handle base plate. Once you have located it, loosen the set screw with a screwdriver and take it off to allow the lever and return it to its horizontal position.
Once the handle is in a horizontal position, you can put the screws back in place and tighten them so that the handle stays fixed to the base plate. replacement upvc door handles should also consider applying an adhesive that locks the screw threads to increase the grip and stop them from loosing over time.
Drooping lever door handles could be the result of various causes. The most common reason is that the fixings are too tight and the lever bearing to bind up against the door. It could also be that the levers aren't being operated in a straight line and this is compressing the latch mechanism and preventing it from fully springing back into action.
A common cause of spring levers that are not functioning properly is that the spring is not being in the right position on the backplate. To determine if the handle returns to horizontal, simply move it.
It is important to fix any door handles that are loose immediately. This could lead to excessive wear on the screws, and the handle could be able to fall off the base plate. It is also recommended to tighten any loose screws regularly to stop them from becoming looser.
Lever/Snib
These upvc handles are called "Snib handle sets" and have the snib lock button on the top of the door lever. If you don't have a dummy lock device you can use this feature to lock the door. They are typically fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle's center and lever or lock centre) door lock. We also stock a variety of other 68PZ door handles from manufacturers like Ferco and Fab & Fix.
You can make your home more modern by changing the door handles whether you are replacing existing handles or installing new ones on doors that you've built. There are a variety of upvc door handle available, including traditional lever on backplate, straight or curving short latches, and dummy knob handles for multi point locks, which are ideal for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are typically rectangular in shape, however you can also find circular or oval shaped versions, which are known as rose door handles. These types of door handles are equipped with a lever or knob on a backplate, which sits behind the knob or lever and is sometimes referred to as the rosette, however some backplates can be removed for concealed fixing.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including chrome and coloured finishes, to match your door and other hardware such as knobs, hinges, and bolts. Some handles come with grub screws to assist in firmly attaching the lever or knob to the spindle. Other handles come with bathroom spindles that can be used to operate bathroom locks and include a thumbturn turn and release mechanism, ideal to use on doors for bathrooms.
Mortise
If your front door's uPVC handle is stuck in the open position, the problem is likely to be due to the tubular latch. This can be caused by many things, but the most common is an absence of lubrication within the latch plate. This can be resolved easily by opening the door and spraying lubricant onto the lock and handle. It could also be that the latch has slipped away from the backplate. This could be more problematic and would require a professional to fix it.
A multipoint handle is the ideal solution to a stuck door handle. These handles mount through the faceplate of the door and are operated with the thumb turn knob or key which activates an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a number of sizes that will fit different types of uPVC doors. They also come with a variety of attractive finishes to complement the existing hardware. These handles can be purchased online or from an authorized locksmith in your area. They are easy to install and come with clear instructions.
You'll need to know the PZ cylinder's size to select the appropriate replacement handle set. This is the distance from the edge of the inner door frame to the centre point of the handle hole in millimetres. You will also need to know if your door has hook locks or a mortise style lock. The most effective way to locate the correct handles once you have the measurements is to use the filter for brands on the website. This will help narrow down your options, and then you can select the correct size.
A typical set of handles includes the handle, a pair of different length screws drilling guides, as well as installation instructions. Smarter versions, such as the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ come with a mortice lock with keys. These are more complex devices and are best suited to professional installers or competent DIYers. Certain handle sets come with various accessories, like weather strips, which can be used to improve the appearance of the door.
