Replacement UPVC Door Handles
If you're replacing your handles or adding a little extra security you can find the right handle for your door. The Upvc handles are simple to install and will meet the minimum 92mm center distance of multipoint locks.
The backplate fixing center and the keyhole/lever dimensions are the most important measurements. Make sure you compare these to your existing marks before ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles for doors consist of a lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. These are designed to work with key wind locks, however they can also be adapted to multipoint split spindle door locks (though you'll require an additional dual spindle lock case).
Our selection of upvc handle lever pads are available in a wide range of finishes. These will be displayed in the drop-down menu after you have identified the perfect handle for your door. Not all styles of handles are available in every finish though and you should always look over the technical drawings and sizes sections for the specific product you're looking for to ensure that you are getting the correct size and fit.
When you are choosing new upvc lever pad door handles it is essential to ensure that they are in line with the PZ (distance between the spindle of the handle and the center of the hole for the cylinder) of your existing multipoint door locks, as these need to be in line for the doors to remain locked, either from the inside or outside. Our handles are designed to fit the majority of standard cylinders, but it is a good idea to double-check before purchasing.
You will need to remove the handles on your current handle and remove the lock case if you're upgrading to dual spindle handle levers as this will require an additional split inline cylinder. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical diagram in the images of each product.
After you have removed the screws that hold the door handle you have, it is a good idea to loosen them and inspect the mechanism to see how it's performing. If the screws are too tight then you might need to loosen them even more. Then you can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with a new upvc handle. It is essential to ensure that the handle is in the proper position prior to installing it. You can do this by placing your finger between the frame of the door, and the handle, to ensure that it's level.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles function as with a multi-point lock that utilizes a Euro Cylinder and can be found on most double doors made of upvc, aluminum doors and some wooden doors. They feature a lever inside and an outside paddle and are typically available in two different types. Sprung - These have an internal spring cassette within the backplate, which helps to bring the handle lever into a horizontal position. Non-sprung - these do not include a spring mechanism and must be manually pulled to bring the handle lever to a horizontal position.
To fix the door handle lever that is sliding you'll need to locate the hole or detent access pin. This is usually an insignificant hole or protruding ring or rectangular found on the handle base plate. Once you've located it, you can loosen the set screw using the help of a screwdriver, and then remove it to release the lever, allowing it to return to its horizontal position.
After the handle is positioned horizontally, you can put back the screws. Make sure to tighten them so that the handle remains firmly attached to the base plate. You should also consider applying an adhesive that locks the threads of the screw to increase the grip and stop them from becoming loose over time.
There are a variety of reasons why lever door handles slide. The most common reason is that the fixings aren't tight which causes the lever bearing to get tangled against the door. It could also be because the levers aren't being operated in a straight line and this is compressing the latch mechanism preventing it from fully springing back into service.
A common cause of spring levers that are not functioning properly is the spring not being in the proper position on the backplate. To determine whether the handle is back to horizontal, simply operate it.
It is essential to repair any door handles that are loose as soon as possible. This can cause excessive wear on the screws, and the handle may even be able to fall off the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all loose screws regularly to help to prevent them from becoming loose.
Lever/Snib
These upvc handles are also called "Snib handle sets" and have an snib lock button located at the top of the lever. If you do not have a dummy locking device, you can use this to lock the door. They are usually fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle centre and lever or the lock centre) door lock. We also stock a variety of other 68PZ door handles from manufacturers like Ferco and Fab & Fix.
Change your door handle is a cheap way to update your home, whether you're replacing existing handles or fitting new ones to doors you've built in your house. There are a variety of styles of door handles made of upvc with traditional levers on backplate, curved or straight short latches and dummy knob handles for multi point locks, that are perfect for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are typically rectangular in shape but there are also oval or circular-shaped models that are referred to as rose door handles. These types of door handles have a lever or knob on a backplate, which sits behind the lever or knob and is often referred to as a rosette, although certain back plates can be detached for concealed fixing.
There's a wide selection of coloured and chrome finishes available for these handles to complement your door and other hardware, including bolts, knobs and hinges. Some handles are equipped with a screws that grub the lever or knob firmly to the spindle. Some handles come with bathroom spindles, which can be used for bathroom locks. They also have a thumbturn release mechanism and can be used on doors for bathrooms.
Mortise
If your uPVC front door handle is stuck in the open position, the reason is likely to be due to the tubular latch. It could be due to many things however the most frequent is a lack of lubrication in the latch plate. This can be resolved easily by simply opening the door and spraying lubricant over the handle and lock. Or, it could be that the latch plate has become separated from the backplate. This could be more of a problem and will require a specialist to repair.
A multipoint door handle is a great solution to the problem of a stuck door handle. These handles are mounted through the faceplate and operated with either a thumb turn or key knob that triggers the cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in different sizes to suit different types of uPVC doors and are available in a variety of attractive finishes that complement existing hardware. patio glass door replacement locking handles can be purchased via the internet or at a local locksmith. They are easy to install and come with clear instructions.
To select a replacement handle set, you'll have to determine the PZ dimension of your cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the inner frame of the door to the center point of the handle hole in millimetres. You will also need the type of lock on your door, whether it's a mortise lock or a hook lock. Once you know these measurements, the easiest way to find the correct handles is to search by brand option on the website. This will narrow down your options, and you will then choose the appropriate size from the list.
A typical set of handles includes the handle unit, a pair of different length screws as well as drill guides and installation instructions. Smarter versions, like the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ include a mortice lock with keypad. These are more complex units and are best suited for professional installers or very competent DIYers. Certain handle sets come with many accessories, including weather strips, which can be used to improve the appearance of the door.
