Adverse intergenerational effects of microplastics might drastically reduce larval recruitment and threaten long-term zooplankton sustainability.Isoprene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde are important reactive organic compounds which strongly impact atmospheric oxidation processes and formation of tropospheric ozone. Monsoon meteorology and the topography of Himalayan foothills cause surface emissions to get rapidly transported both horizontally and vertically, thereby influencing atmospheric processes in distant regions. Further in monsoon, Indo-Gangetic Plain is a major rice growing region of the world and daytime hourly ozone can frequently exceed phytotoxic dose of 40 ppb O3. However, the sources and ambient variability of these compounds which are potent ozone precursors are unknown. Here, we investigate the sources and photochemical processes driving their emission/formation during monsoon season from a sub-urban site at the foothills of the Himalayas. The measurements were performed in July, August and September using a high sensitivity mass spectrometer. Average ambient mixing ratios (±1σ variability) of isoprene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, andpact the remote upper atmosphere, climate and ozone affecting rice yields. The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the infection with the novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, revealed individual and global vulnerabilities, in which we highlight the social, economic, and political aspects and the health systems' organization in the countries. Brazil remains with a high transmission rate and presents a centripetal distribution as observed through a more sustained growth in the number of municipalities affected, outlining a profile of invasion of poor communities. Several vulnerabilities overlap with precarious housing conditions, lack of basic sanitation, malnutrition, and endemicity for neglected chronic diseases such as visceral leishmaniasis (VL). COVID-19 and VL evidently do not share clinical features, but exactly because of the distinct immunopathogenesis between the diseases, patients with VL may present a vulnerability in the immune system against antiviral responses. Considering that VL susceptibility seems to be related to an inefficient and polarized immune response, it is likely that in endemic areas, the overlap of social weaknesses added to individual vulnerability by immune polarization may aggravate the COVID-19 condition. In this sense, we reinforce that possible relationships between endemic neglected diseases such as VL and pandemic SARS-CoV-2 infection need to be further considered and investigated. The angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE-2) receptors with approx. 0.8% congestion in conjunctival surface, leads to increase susceptibility of Covid-19 transmission through ocular surface. It has been observed that prophylactic measures such as goggle or face shield are unable to offer complete protection against ocular transmission of SRS-CoV-2. Hence, it is hypothesized that topical ocular prophylaxis using biocompatible polymers with reported in-vitro and in-vivo evidence of ACE inhibition and antiviral activity appears to be a promising strategy for preventing ocular transmission of Covid-19 to healthcare workers. They are capable of binding to ACE-2 receptors which may provide highly potential trails to block virus entry to host cells. Further biopolymers imparting antiviral activities greatly improve their protective performance. They not only provide prolong protection but also are safe for long-term use. PLX4032 This article discusses the description of structural and functional attributes of ACE-2 to identify appropriate polymer with better binding affinity. Furthermore, potential polymers with appropriate concentration are suggested for evaluation through a hypothesis to consider them for Covid-19 implication.COVID-19 affects males twice as frequently as females with significantly increased severity and mortality. Current data suggest a direct correlation between the lower level of serum testosterone, inflammatory cytokines, disease severity, and poor clinical outcomes among male patients with COVID-19. The gradual decline in total and free testosterone levels has a direct correlation with serious pulmonary complications requiring advanced care (ICU, ventilators, ECMO, etc.). SARS-CoV-2 utilizes Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme II (ACE2) for entry in the host cell, and Transmembrane Protease, Serine 2 (TMPRSS2) to prime spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. Testosterone induces ACE-2 expression, a critical pulmonary protective enzyme. Low testosterone levels in males have a direct correlation with the high probability of ICU admission and the worse disease outcome (ARDS, duration of ICU stay, mortality). On the contrary, however, high testosterone levels can lead to thrombosis which is also one of the fatal manifestations in COVID-19 patients. A critical evaluation of the serum testosterone and its relevance to COVID-19 is warranted to re-evaluate strategies to effectively triage, prioritize, and manage high-risk patients for ICU admission, survival outcomes, targeted solutions, and operational algorithms.Neoplastic cells hijack cell death pathways to evade the immune response. Phosphatidylserine, a marker of apoptotic cells, and its highly conserved bridging proteins, annexins and β2-glycoprotein I, facilitate the efficient removal of apoptotic and necrotic cells via tumor-associated phagocytes in a process called efferocytosis. Efferocytosis results in the clearance of dead and dying cells and local immune suppression. Neoplastic cells also have an increased capacity to activate complement. Complement may facilitate the silent removal of tumor cells and has a dual role in promoting and inhibiting tumor growth. Here I hypothesize that immune response-generating IgG autoantibodies that recognize opsonizing fragments C1q, C3b, and phosphatidylserine-binding proteins (annexins, β2-glycoprotein I) may reduce tumor growth. I propose that these autoantibodies induce a pro-inflammatory, cytotoxic tumor microenvironment. Further, I predict that autoantibodies can drive neoplastic cell phagocytosis in an Fc receptor-dependent manner and recruit additional complement, resulting in immune-stimulatory effects.
