Problem involving intense systematic convulsions in cerebral venous nasal thrombosis: A new nationwide United States investigation.
Glucocorticoids are released in response to acute aerobic exercise. The objective was to define changes in the expression of glucocorticoid target genes in skeletal muscle in response to acute aerobic exercise at different times of day. find more We identified glucocorticoid target genes altered in skeletal muscle by acute exercise by comparing data sets from rodents subjected to acute aerobic exercise in the light or dark cycles to data sets from C2C12 myotubes treated with glucocorticoids. The role of glucocorticoid receptor signaling and REDD1 protein in mediating gene expression was assessed in exercised mice. Changes to expression of glucocorticoid genes were greater when exercise occurred in the dark cycle. REDD1 was required for the induction of genes induced at both times of day. In all, the time of day at which aerobic exercise is conducted dictates changes to the expression of glucocorticoid target genes in skeletal muscle with REDD1 contributing to those changes.Brief exposure to stress increases the tendency to drug abuse, especially cigarette smoking. It seems that nicotine abuse alleviates some psychological and physiological stress symptoms. The present study investigated the effect of nicotine administration on stress-induced anxiety-like behavior in adult male Wistar rats. Also, the possible role of the ventral hippocampal (VH) glutamatergic NMDA receptors was examined in the stress-induced anxiety-like behavior under nicotine administration. The anxiogenic-like effects of forced swimming stress (10 min) were shown by decreases in the head-dipping behavior, rearing, and locomotor activity in a hole-board task. Interestingly, the administration of the different doses of nicotine (0.075 and 0.1 mg/kg, i.p.) inhibited stress-induced anxiogenic-like behaviors. Bilateral microinjection of NMDA (0.1 µg/rat) into the VH potentiated the response of an ineffective dose of nicotine (0.05 mg/kg, i.p.) on stress-induced anxiety-like behavior. The microinjection of D-AP5 (1.5 and 2 µg/rat) into the VH inhibited the response of an effective dose of nicotine (0.1 mg/kg, i.p.) on anxiety-like behavior induced by acute stress. Intra-VH microinjection of D-AP5 reversed the potentiating effect of NMDA on nicotine response. Intra-VH microinjection of NMDA or D-AP5 by itself did not affect stress-induced anxiety-like behavior. Taken together, we can conclude that nicotine inhibited stress-induced anxiogenic-like behaviors, possibly via the ventral hippocampal NMDA receptors mechanism.Stress Granules (SGs) are RNA granules composed of untranslated mRNA and associated proteins, which are related to the cytoplasmic metabolism of mRNA in response to cellular stress and certain drug stimuli. Physiological SGs are dynamic structures that protect cells from the effects of stress, and continuous stress ripens the SGs into more stable complexes. Numerous studies have found that dysregulation of RNA metabolism in stress response led to misfolded protein aggregation in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases. For example, in neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Parkinson's disease (PD), SGs aggregation is mainly due to up-regulation of SGs formation and down-regulation of SGs clearance. Recent studies have revealed the role of SGs in the pathogenesis and pathology of AD, especially the interaction of SGs and RNA-binding proteins with Tau and autophagy. Aggregation of SGs and increased RNA-binding proteins, especially TIA1, can facilitate Tau misfolding and propagation, and vice versa. Autophagy dysfunction disrupts the normal pathway of SGs clearance. In this review, we summarized the regulation of SGs and their relationship with Tau protein and autophagy, as well as the pathological mechanisms of AD such as RNA splicing, microglial cell proliferation and phagocytosis.
To assess the accuracy of a novel Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven tool for automated detection of teeth and small edentulous regions on Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) images.

After AI training and testing with 175 CBCT scans (130 for training and 40 for testing), validation was performed on a total of 46 CBCT scans selected for this purpose. Scans were split into fully dentate and partially dentate patients (small edentulous regions). The AI Driven tool (Virtual Patient Creator, Relu BV, Leuven, Belgium) automatically detected, segmented and labelled teeth and edentulous regions. Human performance served as clinical reference. Accuracy and speed of the AI-driven tool to detect and label teeth and edentulous regions in partially edentulous jaws were assessed. Automatic tooth segmentation was compared to manually refined segmentation and accuracy by means of Intersetion over Union (IoU) and 95% Hausdorff Distance served as a secondary outcome.

The AI-driven tool achieved a general accuracy of 99.7% and 99% for detection and labelling of teeth and missing teeth for both fully dentate and partially dentate patients, respectively. Automated detections took a median time of 1.5s, while the human operator median time was 98s (P<0.0001). Segmentation accuracy measured by Intersection over Union was 0.96 and 0.97 for fully dentate and partially edentulous jaws respectively.

The AI-driven tool was accurate and fast for CBCT-based detection, segmentation and labelling of teeth and missing teeth in partial edentulism.

The use of AI may represent a promising time-saving tool serving radiological reporting, with a major step forward towards automated dental charting, as well as surgical and treatment planning.

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of ambient light illuminance on the accuracy and scanning time of different intraoral scanners (IOSs) in complete-arch implant scans.

Seven IOSs (TRIOS 3, Primescan, Element 5D, i700, i500, CS3700, and CS3600) at 5 ambient lighting illuminances (100, 500, 1000, 5000, and 10 000lux) were evaluated. An edentulous cast with 4 implants was selected as the master model. An implant scan body was tightened on each implant. The cast was digitized by using a laboratory scanner to obtain a reference standard tessellation language (STL) file, and 50 scans (10 per ambient light condition) were recorded with each IOS. Scanning time was recorded by using a digital chronograph. Intraoral scan deviations were calculated by using a 3D metrology software program (Geomagic Control X). Kruskal-Wallis and pairwise comparison tests were used to analyze the data (α=0.05).

The trueness and precision values obtained for each IOS tested were significantly different uno maximize scanning accuracy.
Ambient light influenced the accuracy and scanning time of IOSs assessed; however, the effect was not the same for all devices. It is necessary to optimize ambient light illuminance for each IOS to maximize scanning accuracy.
In the posterior maxilla, due to the presence of maxillary sinus, residual bone height lower than 3mm is a critical factor that can affect implant stability and survival. The use of guided surgery may facilitate the surgical procedures and the implant insertion in case of severely resorbed maxillae. Moreover, it may have beneficial effects on the long-term survival and success of implant-supported restorations. This study aimed to evaluate implant supported restorations on severely resorbed maxilla (<3mm) after sinus lift with collagenated xenograft and guided surgery.

Forty-three patients with need for implant rehabilitation and residual bone height between 1 and 3mm were recruited. Surgical and prosthetical aspects were planned following digital approach with the use of Realguide 5.0 (3diemme, Varese, Italy). Lateral window sinus lift was performed and implants were placed simultaneously to the augmentation procedure with a tooth-supported pilot drill surgical template. A pre-hydrated collagenated potis and peri-implantitis during the whole follow-up period. Four patients (7.4%) faced an unscrewing of the prosthesis.

The present study showed the efficacy in the mid-term of the digital planning and the guided surgery in restoring severely resorbed posterior maxilla with dental implants.

This paper underlines the high potential of the digital approach in the mid-term to implant rehabilitation of severely resorbed maxilla simultaneously with sinus lift.

We present a systematic literature review followed by meta-analyses assessing whether peripheral oxytocin (OXT) levels among psychiatric patients differ from healthy controls, considering the moderating role of methodological aspects and samples' characteristics. The following electronic databases were searched PubMed, Web of Science, PsycINFO, SciELO, LILACS, and Scopus. Fifty-five papers were included in the analysis, and nine independent meta-analyses were performed according to the different diagnoses. Lower OXT concentrations were found in groups of specific disorders (i.e., schizophrenia, restricting and binge-eating/purging subtypes of anorexia nervosa, and borderline personality disorder) with medium to large effect sizes. Great heterogeneity was found among the studies, so that caution is needed to interpret the results. High OXT levels with an effect size of the same magnitude were found for bipolar disorder - type I and obsessive disorder. In contrast, no differences were found for bulimia, autism spectrum, depression, or social anxiety. No meta-analyses were performed for body dysmorphic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or trichotillomania because only one study was identified for each of these disorders. Altered endogenous OXT concentrations are found in several disorders addressed and must be analyzed according to each disorder's specificities.Apart from already established technologies to increase gastrointestinal transit times, including devices rapidly increasing in size once they have reached the stomach in order to retard the passage through the pylorus, formulations that float on gastric fluids and mucoadhesive drug delivery systems adhering to the gastrointestinal mucosa, there are new technologies emerging that might be game changing. They include mucus permeating nanocarriers that are able to diffuse deeply into the mucus gel layer of the gastric and intestinal mucosa remaining there for a prolonged time period (i), charge-converting nanocarriers that shift their zeta potential from negative to positive within the mucus gel layer providing strong ionic bonds with anionic mucus glycoproteins (ii) and thiolated nanocarriers and cyclodextrins form even covalent bonds with cysteine-rich subdomains of mucus glycoproteins (iii). Within this review we will provide an overview about these emerging new technologies and will critically discuss their potential and shortcomings.
