Peru Organic Fair Trade Coffee 1kg
Fair trade coffee eliminates the middlemen, allowing consumers of green coffee to directly work with coffee farmers. This ensures high-quality coffee beans and a long-term income for farmers.
Farmers struggle to earn enough money in the volatile international coffee market. Fair trade can provide stability to farmers through the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional price incentive for organically grown coffee.
Peru Organic
This Peru Organic coffee has a pleasing sweetness with a soft acidity. It has hints of orange and cocoa with the cinnamon note. The fair trade coffee is sourced by a producer who is sustainable and environmentally conscious.
Coffee production in Peru is heavily influenced by small farms of a couple of hectares or less, and farmers usually band together into cooperatives to share the cost of equipment and access to markets for their produce. Additionally, there is many farmers who have decided to grow organically in order to increase the quality of their crops and avoid the use of pesticides on their property.
Cenfrocafe is a farm located in the provinces Jaen and San Ignacio, in northwestern Peru, near the border with Ecuador. The coop consists of 2400 farmers who are members of the coop who grow their coffee on small plots between 1300 to 2000 meters, and 4300 to 6500 feet, at the highest altitudes in the region. Farmers take great care to ensure that the harvest is picked at the right time, so as to get the most value from the beans.
Our Peru organic coffee is fully cleaned and dried in the sun to give a distinctive deep and rich flavor. The high altitude in this region results in a full-bodied, medium-bodied coffee with moderate citric acidity.
Women in Peru grow this coffee as part of a broader movement known as Cafe Femenino, which is changing the role of women in the coffee-growing communities of the rural areas. The coffee is grown and processed, as well as traded by women, which gives them the chance to use the additional funds generated from the sale of their product to improve the family's and their own well-being. A portion of each dollar spent on the coffee is also donated to the women who grew it. This enables them to expand their business, provide education and healthcare to their children, as well as support their families. It is therefore crucial to provide sufficient financial assistance to farmers in order to maintain their livelihoods, and to ensure that the health and welfare of their families is not at risk. Additionally, it is essential to encourage the development of innovative products that can boost productivity and enhance the quality of coffee.
Fair trade Peru HB grade 1 is a premium coffee grown in Cajamarca the northern region of. This single-origin, medium-roasted coffee is a prime example for the unique flavour characteristic of this region. It has a citrus aroma, with hints of cinnamon and the spice of nutmeg. It also has a medium body and smooth, silky texture.
Colombian
The emerald land of Colombia is a land of breathtaking rainforests, gigantic mountains and exquisite coffee. The country produces more arabica beans washed than any other in the world and is proficient in brewing a variety of delicious, sought-after and delicious coffees that are often highly unique. Colombian coffees are famous for their smooth, yet rich and full-bodied taste and their pleasantly acidic flavor, which is always perfectly balanced with the slightest hint of sweetness that never tastes cloying or overpowering.
Colombian coffee is grown traditionally between 1,200 and 2,000 metres above sea level. Here, the top Colombian coffee beans are grown and harvested. The highest quality Colombian beans are generally referred to as Supremo. This refers to the size of the bean (screen sizes 17 or 18).
After the harvesting process, the coffee cherries must be carefully selected by hand to ensure that only fresh and fully ripe beans are allowed to continue the process. At this point the ripe cherries are separated from the beans, which are then washed and dried in the sun. The washed coffee beans are then graded and sorted by quality control teams in accordance with size as well as colour and density. This ensures that only uniform quality coffees are able to reach the shelves of supermarkets across the world.

The Ketiara co-op also supports the preservation of the surrounding Leuser National Park by using shade-grown agriculture as a means of protecting the ecosystem.
In a region that's famous for its volcanic soil it's no surprise that the fertile soil is ideal for coffee cultivation. However, this natural resource is being threatened by the influx of foreign coffee growers that have come to dominate the market. Many local farmers are forced to leave their land because they are not able to compete against the prices of these big corporations.
In the absence of direct trade, in the average $0.15 of each $3 cup of coffee goes to the farmer. Fair trade is essential since this system needs to be changed. Through direct trade relations, farmers can create income security and prevent radical changes in market demand from one season to the next.
