In order to utilize wave energy, various wave power systems are being actively researched and developed and interest in them is increasing. To maximize the operational efficiency, it is very important to monitor and maintain the fault of components of the system. In recent years, interest in the management cost, high reliability and facility utilization of such systems has increased. In this regard, fault diagnosis technology including fault factor analysis and fault reproduction is drawing attention as an important main technology. Therefore, in this study, to reproduce and monitor the faults of a wave power system, firstly, the failure mode of the system was analyzed using FMEA analysis. Secondly, according to the derived failure mode and effect, the thrust bearing was selected as a target for fault reproduction and a test equipment bench was constructed. Finally, with the vibration data obtained by conducting the tests, the vibration spectrum was analyzed to extract the features of the data for each operating status; the data was classified by applying the three machine learning algorithms naïve Bayes (NB), k-nearest neighbor (k-NN), and multi-layer perceptron (MLP). The criteria for determining the fault were derived. It is estimated that a more efficient fault diagnosis is possible by using the standard and fault monitoring method of this study.Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) represents a paradigm of precision medicine. Indeed, in the last decades, the introduction of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic trioxide (ATO) completely revolutionized the therapeutic approach to this previously highly fatal disorder. This entirely chemotherapy-free treatment, which provided excellent survival rates, has been initially validated in adults and, recently, translated in the pediatric setting. This review summarizes currently available data on the use of ATRA and ATO combination in pediatric APL, providing a particular focus on peculiar issues and challenges, such as the occurrence of pseudotumor cerebri and death during induction (early death), as well as the advantage offered by the ATO/ATRA combination in sparing long-term sequelae. The global increase in multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogenic bacteria has led to growing interest in bacteriophage ("phage") therapy. Therapeutic phages are usually selected based on their ability to infect and lyse target bacteria, using in vitro assays. In these assays, phage infection is determined using target bacteria grown in standard commercial rich media, while evaluation of the actual therapeutic activity requires the presence of human blood. In the present work, we characterized the ability of two different Yersinia pestis lytic phages (ϕA1122 and PST) to infect and kill a luminescent Y. pestis EV76 strain suspended in Brain Heart Infusion (BHI)-rich medium or in human whole blood, simulating the host environment. We found that the ability of the phages to infect and lyse blood-suspended Y. pestis was not correlated with their ability to infect and lyse BHI-suspended bacteria. While the two different phages exhibited efficient infective capacity in a BHI-suspended culture, only the PST phage showed efficient lysis ability against blood-suspended bacteria. Therefore, we recommend that for personalized phage therapy, selection of phage(s) for efficient treatment of patients suffering from MDR bacterial infections should include prior testing of the candidate phage(s) for their lysis ability in the presence of human blood.SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) is a novel coronavirus for which no known effective antiviral drugs are available. In the present study, to accelerate the discovery of potential drug candidates, bioinformatics-based in silico drug discovery approaches are utilized. We performed multiple sequence alignments of the Spike (S) protein with 75 sequences of different viruses from the Orthocoronavirinae subfamily. This provided us with insights into the evolutionarily conserved domains that can be targeted using drugs or specific antibodies. Further, we analyzed the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 core proteins, i.e., S and RdRp (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase), to elucidate how the virus infection can utilize hemoglobin to decrease the blood oxygen level. Moreover, after a comprehensive literature survey, more than 60 antiviral drugs were chosen. The candidate drugs were then ranked based on their potential to interact with the Spike and RdRp proteins of SARS-CoV-2. The present multidimensional study further advances our understanding of the novel viral molecular targets and potential of computational approaches for therapeutic assessments. SP600125 research buy The present study can be a steppingstone in the selection of potential drug candidates to be used either as a treatment or as a reference point when designing a new drug/antibody/inhibitory peptide/vaccine against SARS-CoV-2.
Children and youth with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may experience difficulties in participation, but few studies examine their participation and the environmental factors affecting participation. This study explored the participation and the environmental factors of children and youth, with and without attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), in the following three settings home, school, and community.
Parents of 65 participants aged 6-14 (M = 9.91, SD = 1.87) with and without ADHD completed the Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth (PEM-CY) questionnaire, which evaluates participation and environmental factors, along with demographic and screening questionnaires.
The ADHD group (
= 31) scored significantly lower than the non-ADHD group (
= 34) in "frequency" at home, "involvement", and overall environmental support in all settings, with parents expressing a greater desire to change their child's home and community participation. For the ADHD group, a relationship was found between environmental support and involvement in all three settings.
The findings demonstrated differences in the participation of children and youth with ADHD across different settings, compared to those without ADHD, and confirmed the effect of environmental factors on participation, especially involvement. It is essential to consider participation measures and environmental factors when designing interventions for children and youth with ADHD.
