Numerous studies have utilized these materials for regeneration of biological tissues that possess electrical activities, such as cardiac tissue. In this review, recent studies on the use of electroconductive materials for cardiac tissue engineering and their fabrication methods are summarized. Moreover, recent advances in developing electroconductive materials for delivering therapeutic agents as one of emerging approaches for treating heart diseases and regenerating damaged cardiac tissues are highlighted.

Trace HBsAg rebound in the absence of HBV DNA may reflect HBsAg derived from integrated HBV DNA and not rebound of viral infection.This paper aimed to assess a method to measure eight thyroid-related compounds in serum by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), to verify the correlation with radioimmunoassay (RIA), to evaluate the possible cross-reactivity, and to observe differences between athletes declaring the consumption of sodium levothyroxine and nonathletes serum samples. Validation was carried out to assess carryover, working range and linearity, limit of detection and limit of quantification, precision, matrix influence, recovery, accuracy, and uncertainty. Comparison between RIA and LC-MS/MS results was done. The assay was applied to serum samples, and comparison with RIA was done for T3 and T4 levels supported by RIA Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) measurements. Validation parameters showed satisfactory results. Correlation between RIA and LC-MS/MS for T3 and T4 showed good results, but a cross-reactivity between T3 and T3AA was observed. Although no significant differences were proved, preliminary comparison between athletes and nonathletes serum samples showed a shift towards high values of TSH and lower for T4 values in the athletes' group. Differences between thyronine and T4AA concentrations and ratios were observed. The trend of T4 values supported by TSH measures might indicate subclinical hypothyroidism in athletes. This represents one of the most controversial thyroid statuses as different criteria about its treatment are described, especially since one of the exogenous causes is inadequate levothyroxine therapy. Because the variation of thyroid hormones and TSH has been extensively studied in high-performance sports, it is worth considering the need to set an adequate reference interval to accurately assess the thyroid status in athletes.
Preventing new cases of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is key to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Ending the HIV Epidemic A Plan for America initiative. In 2012, Truvada became the first medication approved in the United States to prevent HIV infection, yet it has not seen widespread use.
This study aimed to allow for the incorporation of an HIV risk assessment into the primary care provider (PCP) visit and promote increased numbers of patients screened for pre-exposure prophylaxis of HIV (PrEP).
An educational program and an electronic HIV risk assessment tool were provided to the healthcare providers in an urban federally qualified health center to decrease barriers to providing PrEP.
Provider likelihood to prescribe PrEP increased among the internal medicine/family medicine (p=.0001, p=.0001) and obstetrics/gynecology providers (p=.0034, p=.0034), but there was no significant change among the pediatric providers (p=.4227, p=.1965).
Improvement among most providers demonstrated the success of this effort. Additional assessments and interventions are warranted among pediatric providers. Continued efforts are needed to progress to the incorporation of PrEP in the PCP visit.

This scoping review aimed to determine the frequency of different teaching methodologies, tools and platforms applied in dental education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The search strategy was performed in six databases and grey literature. A total of 28 questionnaire-based studies were included, without language or time restriction, from 20 different countries.
Six thousand five hundred sixty-five participants were assessed 84% undergraduates, 9% of faculty members, 5% of postgraduate students/residents/trainees and 2% of dental schools/residency programs. The pooled eligible data for teaching methodologies were 62% of a combination of different methods (95% CI, 35.5% to 82.3%), 23% a combination of synchronous and asynchronous formats (95% CI, 8.2% to 50.2%) and 15% for only synchronous lectures (95% CI, 4.3% to 42.2%). The reported tools were laptops (40%), smartphones (40%), tablets (40%), desktops (20%), Blackboard (20%), Respondus Lockdown Browser (20%), eProctor (20%) and PowerPoint (20%). We demonstrate that the system can accurately enhance the display of the surgical path and provide guidance for the tradition of maxillofacial surgery.The growing demand for extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), appreciated for its unique organoleptic properties and health benefits, has led to various fraudulent practices to maximize profits, including dilution with lower value edible oils. The adulterated oils would be of poor nutritional quality, more readily oxidized, and may contain unhealthy substances formed during processing. Nevertheless, the range of available techniques to detect fraud in EVOO production has been growing. Reliable markers of EVOO adulteration include fatty acids and minor components such as sterols, tocopherols, triterpene alcohols, phenolic compounds, phospholipids, volatile compounds, and pigments. Additionally, increasing consumer interest in high-quality EVOO has led to the development of robust scientific methods for its traceability. This review focuses on (i) the usefulness of certain compounds as markers of EVOO adulteration; (ii) the potential health risks of consuming adulterated EVOO; and (iii) reliable methods for the geographical traceability of olive oil. In conclusion, fraudulent production practices need to be detected to preserve the beneficial health effects of EVOO and to avoid the potential risks associated with ingesting substandard oil. In this work, as EVOO certification and regulatory framework limitations have already been extensively reviewed, we focus our attention on biomarkers that guarantee both the authenticity and traceability of oil, and consequently its health properties. When it is unavailable to obtain a high-resolution mass spectrometry full fingerprint, stigmastadienes and the sterolic profile are proposed as reliable markers.
