This process can be repeated until the maximum level of an item is reached.

Items with upgraded base stats will display an icon of blue in their slot. Upgrade components, unlike enchantments cannot be applied to more than one item at a time. Additionally each upgrade component will require a particular amount of items to be used in addition to an appropriate level for the equipment.

The Upgrade Station features two slots: the left one is where players can add equipment that needs to be upgraded, while the right shows a preview of what the gear will look like when it reaches its next level. Once the player has enough items, pressing the yellow arrow will initiate the upgrade process.

A piece of equipment can be upgraded up to five times. Every time the item is upgraded, its stats will increase by a small amount. The highest level for an item is 19.

When an item reaches its maximum level, it will no longer have the option to upgrade. Likewise, once an item reaches an upgrade track (e.g. Veteran or Explorer) upgrades to the track will be offered at discounted prices.

Upgrade components are a kind of equipment that can be inserted into weapons, armor trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools to provide an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is equipped. They can be bought through vendors, looted or obtained through questing. They can also be traded between players. Upgrades can be beneficial to certain items, but they are not because they increase stats. They are more valuable to players when they achieve an exact roll. For example, a perfect-rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly valued in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50x the non-upp'd version.

The game will display the requirements when you select the upgrade component that goes into the item. This includes the type of item (either Armor or Weapon) and the level of the item and the Upgrade Token required, and the amount of progress needed to complete the upgrade.

The game will place an item in your inventory when you have met the requirements for an upgrade. The progress bar will update to show how close to finishing the upgrade. You can also check on the status of an item upgrade by visiting any NPC who upgrades items.
