Objective Explore the distribution of basic characteristics of high-risk groups of diabetes; verify the practical significance and diagnostic value of the "three-point method"; layered analysis of glycated hemoglobin and glycated serum albumin, and study its value and significance in the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, Type II and pre-diabetes mellitus, Type II.Methods 1304 high-risk individuals with T2D in Shanghai, 529 males and 841 females with an average of (50.5 ± 15.2) years old, were examined by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), HbA1c and GA were determined. Process the data by Python and GraphPad; judge the diagnostic value of HbA1C, GA by ROC.Results (1) The numbers of DM, NGT, HOG, IFG, Mild-IGT and Mid-IGT in the objects were 647, 141, 70, 4, 208 and 234 respectively. In the 43-49 age group with a higher incidence, the proportion of selected high-risk groups is low. (2) The sensitivity and specificity about "three-point method" used to determine NGT is 100% and 90.11%; to determine IGR is 75.11% and 97.32%; to determine HOG is 97.14% and 100%; to determine DM is 94.67% and 100%. (3) According to ROC judgment, it is found that these 2 did not have the function of separate diagnoses, the optimal critical point of HbA1C related to DM status is 5.95%, (P less then .01); HbA1C related to IGR status is 5.75% (P less then .01); of GA related to DM status is 15.25% (P less then .01); GA related to IGR status is 14.95% (P less then .01).The modeling of the response of living organisms to a change in environment is an important issue of current interest. An example is the effect of ultraviolet radiation on biological systems. In this paper, molecular and analytical identification of Pseudomonas isolate were reported. Then, swarmer Pseudomonas cells were exposed to UVc radiations. The spatiotemporal response of swarmer Pseudomonas, to UVc exposure, was followed. Observing alterations in bacterial membrane integrity by electron microscopy can help to clarify the detailed mechanisms of resistance to UVc. The most evident changes were related to membrane structures. In the cytoplasm, the main finding was the appearance of round mesosomes as intracellular bilayered membranes. Another impact of UVc on Pseudomonas was evident from the appearance of additional membrane structures. In accordance with the viability results, UVc-induced ultrastructural changes of Pseudomonas membrane structures were identified, resulting in cell death, through a multistage model of UVc inactivation.
Modern lifestyles may lead to high stress levels, frequently associated with mood disorders (e.g. depressed mood) and sleep disturbance. The objective of this study was to develop a machine learning model aimed at identifying risk factors for developing poor sleep quality in young adults.

The sample consisted of 383 college-aged students (mean age ± SD 21 ± 1 years; 61% males). Sleep quality, mood state, physical activity, number of sitting hours, and smartphone use were measured.

A decision tree algorithm distinguished participants' sleep quality with 74% accuracy using a combination of four features depressed mood, physical activity, sitting time, and vigour. Together with depressed mood, both physical activity (>6432 metabolic equivalent tasks -METs- per week) and sedentary behaviour (sitting time greater than 7 h/day) were the primary features that could differentiate those with poor sleep quality from those with good sleep quality.

We provided a decision tree model with a sensitivity of 90.7% and a specificity of 54.3%, with an AUC of 0.725. These findings could promote improvements in prevention strategies and contribute to the development of meaningful and evidence-based intervention programs.

To (1) measure surgical outcomes associated with stereotactic radiosurgery treatment of cerebellopontine angle meningiomas, and (2) determine if differences in radiation dosages or preoperative tumor volumes affect surgical outcomes.

A systematic search was performed on the PubMed, Medline, Embase and Cochrane Library databases searching for patients under stereotactic radiosurgery for meningiomas of the cerebellopontine angle. After data extraction and Newcastle-Ottawa scale quality assessment, meta-analysis of the data was performed with Review Manager 3.4.5.

In total, 6 studies including 406 patients were included. Postprocedure, patients had minimal cranial nerve complications while having an overall tumor control rate of 95.6%. Complications were minimal with facial nerve deficits occurring in 2.4%, sensation deficits of the trigeminal nerve in 4.0%, hearing loss in 5.9%, hydrocephalus in 2.0% and diplopia in 2.6% of all patients. Individuals with tumors extending into the internal auditory canal extension did not have significantly increases in hearing loss. There was a higher likelihood of tumor regression on postprocedure imaging in studies with a median prescription dose of >13 Gy (RR 1.27 [95% CI 1.04-1.56,
= 0.0225). There was no evidence of publication bias detected.

Radiosurgery is an effective modality for offering excellent tumor control of CPA meningiomas while allowing for only minimal complications postprocedure. A higher prescription dose may achieve higher tumor regression at follow up. Future studies should aim at establishing and optimizing accurate dosimetric guidelines for this patient population.

Theory of mind (ToM), the ability to reason about mental states, declines in later life. While anxiety symptoms may predict ToM abilities, the nature of associations requires more elucidation. Further, it is unknown whether age group moderates associational patterns. We examined associations between anxiety symptoms (linear and curvilinear) and cognitive ToM (C-ToM) and affective ToM (A-ToM); and moderation by age group (older vs. younger adults).

In a sample of healthy younger (
 = 90, M
= 20.17 years) and older adults (
 = 87, M
= 71.52), we used hierarchical regressions with polynomial and interaction terms to assess the association between anxiety symptoms and ToM in younger and older adults.

Anxiety symptoms were associated with C-ToM but not A-ToM. Age group interacted linearly with anxiety (β = -1.64,
 = .02), and with anxiety's quadratic polynomial (β = .84,
= .04). The inverted-U shaped association in younger adults (highest C-ToM at moderate anxiety) contrasted with older adults' linear decline in C-ToM with increasing anxiety.

We highlight the importance of anxiety symptoms for predicting ToM, and clarify that associations vary by age. Elucidating associations may be critical to developing interventions that improve social wellbeing.

Employing the concepts of social participation and self-determination together with the youths' perspectives, as conveyed by staff, we examine how social participation might be promoted for youths with ID in institutional settings in Sweden. The findings revealed three overarching themes. The first theme, Developing skills, self-determination and becoming less reliant, illustrates the basic use of ICT. The second theme, Sharing events, socialising and participating with others, draws attention to how youths take technology a step further to interact with others. The third theme, Resources and attitudes, concerns the youths' need and desires for adequate support and equipment and the mindset of surrounding communities concerning ICT. Our conclusion is that ICT has the potential to promote social participation if the youths have access to personalised equipment and supportive staff. The angiogenic factors sFlt-1 and PlGF play an established role in the detection of preeclampsia (PE). Recent data suggest that sEng might contribute to the pathogenesis of PE. However, only a few studies so far have addressed its role. This monocentric cross-sectional study of high-risk pregnancies aims to compare the levels of sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and sEng depending on different placental-related adverse pregnancy outcomes. The statistical analysis takes into account Pearson's correlation coefficient between angiogenic factors, the area under the curve estimates (AUCs) for detection, and adjusted odds ratios (aOR) with 95% confidence intervals (95%-CIs). The analysis included 206 patients 60 controls, 90 PE (59 EOPE, 35 LOPE), 94 FGR, and 35 HELLP cases. Some outcomes overlapped because FGR commonly complicated PE and HELLP syndrome. Serum levels of sFlt-1/PlGF and sEng correlated with each other. Higher levels were observed in HELLP syndrome and EOPE cases. AUCs for sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and sEng were, respectively, 0.915 (95%-Cl 0.87-0.96) and 0.872 (95%-Cl 0.81-0.93) in PE, 0.895 (95%-Cl 0.83-0.96) and 0.878 (95%-Cl 0.81-0.95) in HELLP syndrome, 0.891 (95%-Cl 0.84-0.94), and 0.856 (95%-Cl 0.79-0.92) in FGR.aORsfor sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and sEng were, respectively 2.69 (95%-Cl 1.86-3.9) and 2.33 (95%-Cl 1.59-3.48) in PE, 2.38 (95%-Cl 1.64-3.44) and 2.28 (95%-Cl 1.55-3.4) in FGR, and 2.10 (95%-Cl 1.45-3.05) and 1.88 (95%-Cl 1.31-2.69) in HELLP syndrome. In addition, the aORs between sFlt-1/PlGF and sEng were very similar but higher for PE and FGR than HELLP syndrome. In conclusion,sEng performed similarly to sFlt-1/PlGF to detect placental dysfunctions.Prostate cancer disproportionately affects men of African descent and it is estimated that Africa will bear the highest disease burden in the next decade. Underlying genomic factors may contribute to prostate cancer disparities; however, it is unclear whether Africa has prioritised genomics research toward addressing these disparities. A Pubmed review was performed of publications spanning a 15-year period, with specific focus on prostate cancer genomics research that included samples from Africa and investigators in Africa. Data are presented on research publications from Africa relative to similar publications from different geographical regions, and more specifically, the extent of disparities and the contributions to prostate cancer knowledge as a result of genomics research that included African samples and African institutions. Limited publication output may reflect the infrastructure and funding challenges in Africa. Widespread cooperation should be fostered by sharing capacity and leveraging existing expertise to address the growing cancer burden facing the continent.
