Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be achieved in a variety of ways, including by using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Additionally there are many items that can be reforged to boost their stats even more.
Upgradeable items are available in the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the main method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment has slots to upgrade, and many require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses while others provide a general bonus.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any equipment, and offer less than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools, and provide a variety of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of the item's collection to supplying additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, simply select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, as well as any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.
The upper-right corner displays the amount of upgrade components required to create the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of upgrade and rarity, but can be reduced using many different methods, such as buying upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded with an upgrade to a prefix like an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. item upgrades include an adjective in the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They move to catch the attention of the viewer and stimulate interest in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph has a set of values it can improve a stat by according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by and not the amount it actually increases it by. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the item that you are in awe of.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of then you'll need to salvage it with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item that it was installed in but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its fragments, therefore it should not be considered a loss.
The addition of a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also add a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly instead of all at one time. This is helpful for players who suffer lots of damage from their enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment and can be found through a variety of methods such as in mistery boxes, as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with a random affix that is usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can be used to boost weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, however, they can still receive upgrades. If you click the "upgrade button", you can recycle the recycled items. This will change the design of the item's window and let up to six items be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is by the rarity of the item as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, but users should be aware that it can reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls used in order to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This is evident on Diadems and Rings, as they have no other options for raising ilvl.
The reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it using money or food items which would allow players to modify their build without a lot of time and energy. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers want to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They're planning to include a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the upgrade value of the stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect which increases the healing or damage of a specific stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel, but will be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are random. Most of the time the best roll will be derived from glyphs, however there are also possibilities for greater or special rolls. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a special item type, it's likely to gaining an additional level.
Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on its base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item could reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level however. Generally speaking the upgrade effect is increased by a number of +3.
Depending on the item's base level and its upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change too. For example an item that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an extraordinary item is likely to get the Enhanced Defense of the base type of item.
