The spinal alignment, walking speed, step length and foot pressure of 33 community-dwelling elderly individuals with spinal kyphosis (3 men, 30 women; mean age 77.3years) were examined before and after the application of 10-mm moderately elastic heel lifts.

Spinal alignment of total inclination (mean value 6.9°vs 4.5°) and thoracic angle (43.6°vs 36.2°) were significantly lower after the application of heel lifts than before the application. The lumbar angle (7.3°vs 10.0°) was significantly higher after the application than before the application. Walking speed (0.78 vs 0.88m/s) and step length (0.42m vs 0.45m) were significantly higher after the application. The partial foot pressure as a percentage of body weight of the hallux (6.7% vs 9.0%) and lateral toes (6.5% vs 9.0%) was significantly higher after the application of heel lifts than before the application. The partial foot pressure as a percentage of body weight of the heel (68.9% vs 57.5%) was significantly lower after the application than before the application.

In conclusion, heel lifts influenced the sagittal spinal alignment of elderly individuals. Walking speed and step length increased after the application of these devices. To evaluate the correlation between baropodometric parameters and sagittal parameters for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

44 volunteers (7 males and 37 females) were recruited. All participants were diagnosed as adolescent idiopathic scoliosis by X-ray before baropodometric study. Sagittal parameters included thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis, sagittal vertical axis, pelvic tilt, sacral slope and pelvic incidence. A static baropodometry was performed for each patient. The foot area was divided into four quadrants. The contact surface and weight percentage were measured.

Lumbar lordosis was positively correlated to pelvic incidence, sacral slope and (P<0.001, P<0.001, respectively). On the major curve side, pelvic tilt showed a positive correlation with all baropodometric parameters (P<0.05) except forefoot weight percentage. Thoracic kyphosis showed negative correlations with contact surface and weight percentage of the forefoot (P=0.04, 0.02 respectively) but no correlation with any rearfoot feature. Lumbar lordosis, sagittal vertical axis, pelvic incidence and sacral slope were not in correlation with plantar pressure. On the opposite side, sagittal profile showed no obvious correlation with any baropodometric parameter.

We aimed to observe the allergen-specific IgE against crudeD. farinae, Der f 2 and Zen 1 in dogs with atopic dermatitis and report if these dogs are in contact with material that could shelter mite allergens.

100 dogs with clinical diagnosis of atopic dermatitis were included after exclusion of other forms of pruritic skin disease and dogs that already received specific or non-specific immunotherapy. These dogs were of different breeds and ages and they were presented at a veterinary teaching hospital and a private service of veterinary dermatology, both located in Curitiba, Southern Brazil. At the time of anamnesis, some questions were applied to know the possibility of these dogs having had contact with furniture and textile material which could shelter house dust mites. Sera samples were obtained ant observed between crude D. farinae and Der f 2 and Der f 2 and Zen 1. The sensitization to D. farinae and its allergens was associated with an unrestricted exposition to furniture and textile material. CONCLUSION & CLINICAL RELEVANCE dogs with atopic dermatitis are frequently sensitized to D. farinae and its allergens, Der f 2 and Zen 1, may be considered major allergens in these dogs. Zen 1 may be the main allergen responsible for the sensitization to crude D. farinae.A norm version of the RMSProp algorithm with penalty (termed RMSPropW) is introduced into the deep learning framework and its convergence is addressed both analytically and numerically. For rigour, we consider the general nonconvex setting and prove the boundedness and convergence of the RMSPropW method in both deterministic and stochastic cases. This equips us with strict upper bounds on both the moving average squared norm of the gradient and the norm of weight parameters throughout the learning process, owing to the penalty term within the proposed cost function. In the deterministic (batch) case, the boundedness of the moving average squared norm of the gradient is employed to prove that the gradient sequence converges to zero when using a fixed step size, while with diminishing stepsizes, the minimum of the gradient sequence converges to zero. In the stochastic case, due to the boundedness of the weight evolution sequence, it is further shown that the weight sequence converges to a stationary point with probability 1. Finally, illustrative simulations are provided to support the theoretical analysis, including a comparison with the standard RMSProp on MNIST, CIFAR-10, and IMDB datasets.We use a conditional deep convolutional generative adversarial network to predict the geopotential height of the 500 hPa pressure level, the two-meter temperature and the total precipitation for the next 24 h over Europe. The proposed models are trained on 4 years of ERA5 reanalysis data from with the goal to predict the associated meteorological fields in 2019. The forecasts show a good qualitative and quantitative agreement with the true reanalysis data for the geopotential height and two-meter temperature, while failing for total precipitation, thus indicating that weather forecasts based on data alone may be possible for specific meteorological parameters. We further use Monte-Carlo dropout to develop an ensemble weather prediction system based purely on deep learning strategies, which is computationally cheap and further improves the skill of the forecasting model, by allowing to quantify the uncertainty in the current weather forecast as learned by the model.
