Coupling with ethanol extraction-water precipitation purification method, pure O-FCDs and B-FCDs with yields of 9.0 % and 21.3 %, quantum yields (QYs) of 43.0 % and 13.7 % were obtained, respectively. However, there is currently still lack of a comprehensive critical review about alumina membranes for water purification. In this review, we first discuss recent developments of alumina membranes, and then critically introduce the state-of-the-art strategies for lowering fabrication cost, improving membrane performances and mitigating membrane fouling. Especially, aiming to improve membrane performance, some emerging methods are summarized such as tailoring membrane structure, developing flexible membranes, designing nano-pores for precise separation, and enhancing multi-functionalities. In addition, engineering applications of alumina membranes for water purification are also briefly introduced. Finally, the prospects for future research on alumina membranes are proposed, such as economic preparation/application, challenging precise separation, enriching multi-functionalities, and clarifying separation mechanisms.Both huge volume and high moisture content of municipal sludge have brought great troubles and attracted extensive concerns in the world. The bound water of sludge and pore clogging in the process of pressure filtration dewatering are two key factors influencing the deep-dewatering effect of municipal sludge. The results of this study suggest that microwave irradiation (MI) can be used to synchronously evaporate water, reduce the bound water of sludge and solve the blockage of sludge pore channels during the process filtration dewatering, which can greatly reduce the moisture content of municipal sludge. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance, carbon dioxide gas absorption and desorption, and scanning electron microscope were synthetically used to detect the pore structure of sludge cakes. However, the detailed fate of pesticides in the planted filters still remains elusive. This hampers an accurate assessment of environmental risks of the pesticides related to their fate and thereby development of proper mitigation strategies. In addition, a test system for the chemical fate analysis including plants and in particular for planted filters is not well established yet. Therefore, we developed a microcosm test to simulate the fate of pesticide in planted filters, and applied 2-13C,15N-glyphosate as a model pesticide. The fate of 2-13C,15N-glyphosate in the planted microcosms over 31 day-incubation period was balanced and compared with that in the unplanted microcosms. The mass balance of 2-13C,15N-glyphosate turnover included 13C mineralization, degradation products, and the 13C and 15N incorporation into the rhizosphere microbial biomass and plants. We observed high removal of glyphosate (> 88%) from the water mainly due to adsorption on gravel in both microcosms. More glyphosate was degraded in the planted microcosms with 4.1% of 13C being mineralized, 1.5% of 13C and 3.8% of 15N being incorporated into microbial biomass. In the unplanted microcosms, 1.1% of 13C from 2-13C,15N-glyphosate was mineralized, and only 0.2% of 13C and 0.1% of 15N were assimilated into microbial biomass. The total recovery of 13C and 15N was 81% and 85% in planted microcosms, and 91% and 93% in unplanted counterparts, respectively. The microcosm test was thus proven to be feasible for mass balance assessments of the fate of non-volatile chemicals in planted filters. The results of such studies could help better manage and design planted filters for pesticide removal.Quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) of human health risks using human fecal marker genes (HFMGs) is an useful water quality management tool. To inform accurate QMRA analysis, generation of probability distribution functions for HFMGs, and reference pathogenic viruses can be improved by input of correlation and ratios based upon measurement of HFMGs and gene copies (GC) of pathogenic viruses in untreated wastewater. The concentrations of four HFMGs (Bacteroides HF183, Lachnospiraceae Lachno3, CrAssphage and pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV)), and GC of three reference pathogenic viruses human adenovirus 40/41 (HAdV 40/41), human norovirus GI + GII HNoV GI + GII and enterovirus (EV) were measured in untreated wastewater samples collected over a period of 12 months from two wastewater treatment plants in Sydney, Australia using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and reverse transcription qPCR (RT-qPCR). Over the course of the study, the GC of potential pathogenic viruses were 3-5 orders of magnitude lower than HFMGs in untreated wastewater. The GC of pathogenic viruses were highly variable over the course of the study, which contrasted with the concentrations of HFMGs that were quite stable with little variation observed within and between WWTPs. Among the HFMGs, HF183, CrAssphage and PMMoV correlated well with pathogenic virus GC, whereas weak or negative correlations were observed between Lachno3 and pathogenic virus GC. While the two assessed WWTPs had dissimilar population service sizes, the ratios between log10 transformed pathogenic virus GC and HFMGs demonstrated similar central tendency and variability for the same combinations between WWTP A and WWTP B with no difference between the WWTPs. This suggests the widespread presence of these HFMGs in both populations serviced by these two WWTPs. The observed correlation and ratios of HFMGs and GC of reference pathogenic viruses can contribute to improved QMRA of human health risks in environmental waters subject to fresh sewer overflows.Negative symptoms represent one of the core features of schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD), strongly correlated with low remission rates, poor real-world functioning, and worse quality of life. Despite the body of evidence attesting the role of negative symptoms in determining worse outcomes in SSD, few studies have directly investigated their impact on the use of psychiatric services and even fewer research have examined the differential impact between primary versus secondary negative symptoms. The present study aims to investigate whether SSD subjects with high levels of primary and of secondary negative symptoms at an index hospitalization show a different use of psychiatric services in the subsequent 3 years. A total of 429 subjects were included in the study. Results show that SSD patients with high levels of negative symptoms are characterized by an overall greater use of high-cost resources, with more admissions in the hospital acute care psychiatric ward and in high intensity residential inpatient services. Moreover, while primary negative symptoms appear to play a role in determining a greater use of psychiatric services, high levels of secondary negative symptoms are associated with an increased use of most psychiatric resources, especially of high-cost ones. In conclusion, negative symptoms have a relevant impact on the pattern of psychiatric resources utilization in SSD patients. While scientific research continues to look for effective treatments for primary negative symptoms, clinicians should pay particular attention to secondary negative symptoms, as these also have important consequences but may benefit from appropriate treatment.Educator professional development (PD) is essential for improving student outcomes (Guskey, 1986, 2002). However, logistical challenges with traditional in-person conferences can detract from the reach of educator PD (Corcoran, 1995; Johnston, 1994; Shaffer & McNinch, 1997; Stephens, 1991). Project ECHO is a model of PD that utilizes videoconferencing technology to provide training to educators in rural or underserved areas through didactic presentations and case-based learning (Arora et al., 2007; Root-Elledge et al., 2018) while eliminating some of the challenges faced by traditional conferences. However, cost comparisons between ECHO and various forms of PD have not previously been considered. The current study utilizes an in-depth cost comparison to examine PD delivered by ECHO relative to traditional conferences. Findings suggest that ECHO is more affordable for funders and attendees overall. ECHO for Education may, therefore, be a useful tool in delivering PD to educators in rural and remote communities.
To identify missed opportunities for healthcare providers to discuss HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) with people who inject drugs (PWID).

Participants were 395 HIV-negative PWID recruited for the 2018 National HIV Behavioral Surveillance survey in San Francisco, California via respondent-driven sampling. Adjusted logistic regression tested whether discussing PrEP with a provider in the last year was associated with sociodemographic characteristics, structural factors, and accessing HIV/STI and substance use treatment services.

Most PWID (86.3%) reported seeing a healthcare provider, but only 15.0% of these reported discussing PrEP with a healthcare provider. PWID who were sexual minority men had greater odds of having a discussion about PrEP with a healthcare provider than PWID who were heterosexual men (aOR=3.42, 95% CI=1.21-9.73) or heterosexual women (aOR=3.69, 95% CI=1.08-12.62).
