The proportions of cases reported from the eastern, western and central regions were 42.5% (27 501),22.1% (14 315) and 35.4% (22 870), respectively. The consistent rate of the clinical types between the reported cases and the verified cases was 58.8%, with a Kappa value of 0.15. For the 39 271 cases confirmed as acute and chronic hepatitis B cases in the reporting cards, the consistent rate of the clinical types between the reported cases and the verified cases was 96.9%, with a Kappa value of 0.73. In 94.5% (24 267/25 681) of the cases with inconsistent clinical types, the reporting card information were incomplete. Conclusion The diagnosis of hepatitis B has been improved in the hepatitis B surveillance in China, but it is necessary to improve the completeness of the reporting cards of hepatitis B cases to NNDRS.Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis B in China, evaluate the performance of elimination hepatitis B in China and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of hepatitis B. Methods An analysis was conducted by using the data of hepatitis B cases reported to the National Notifiable Disease Reporting System (NNDRS) from the areas with low, moderate and high hepatitis B prevalence in China from 2013 to 2020, and the information about the diagnoses of the hepatitis B cases were collected, the incidence of hepatitis B was estimated according to the reporting and diagnosis information and the characteristics of acute and chronic hepatitis B were compared. Results A total of 27 013 hepatitis B cases were reported to NNDRS, including 4 070 acute cases, 21 971 chronic cases and 972 unclassified cases. Among the reported acute hepatitis B cases, 69.9% (2 845/4 070) were confirmed. Among the reported chronic hepatitis B cases, 89.0% (19 548/21 971) were confirmed, and 2.1% (452/21 971) were confirmed as acute cases. It was estimated that the incidence of acute hepatitis B was 4.6/100 000 and the incidence of chronic hepatitis B cases was 54.5/100 000. The case number of acute hepatitis B in age group 31-45 years was highest, accounting for 35.3% (1 164/3 297). The case number of acute hepatitis B in children under 15 years old was lowest, accounting for 0.4% (13/3 297). The case number of chronic hepatitis B in age group 46-60 years was highest, accounting for 34.4% (7 211/20 932). Conclusions The incidence of acute hepatitis B was in decrease and the incidence of chronic of hepatitis B was in increase in China year by year. It is important to strengthen the standardized diagnosis and treatment of chronic hepatitis B to decrease the morbidity and mortality of hepatitis B. At the same time, it is necessary to standardize the management and reporting of hepatitis B cases reported to NNDRS to improve the accuracy of the reporting of hepatitis B.Viral hepatitis has been causing big threat to public health globally. The number of annual deaths caused by hepatitis surpassed the deaths caused by AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. World Health Organization (WHO) issued the global health sector strategy on viral hepatitis 2016-2020 (GHSS) to control its epidemic. It established the Strategies and Technical Advisory Committee on HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections (STAC). This paper summarizes the GHSS goals and the keynote of the 2020 STAC meeting, analyzes the challenges and opportunities faced by China in eliminating viral hepatitis, and provides the comments on the papers on this issue, which could guide further actions.HIV infection among foreign personnel is one of the nonnegligible issues to control the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in China. It is necessary for HIV infection among foreign personnel to be taken effective measures in China. This paper consists of information about epidemic characteristics among foreign personnel with HIV in China, including influence on the overall infection, geographical distribution, and prevention status, referencing more effective AIDS knowledge and health education and behavior intervention. With the development of society, the dietary pattern of Chinese residents gradually tends to be Westernized, and the disease spectrum has also been progressively changed into chronic non-communicable diseases like ischemic heart disease and stroke. Diet has been recognized as a common and modifiable factor for many chronic diseases. In this paper, the researches on dietary patterns and common chronic non-communicable diseases in recent years were summarized by searching the literature in Chinese and English databases in the past five years (2015-2020). This research integrated the outcome indicators, possible mechanisms, and research conclusions of dietary patterns and cardiovascular system, metabolic diseases, digestive system, locomotor system, and mental system in the past five years from the perspective of the human system. Dietary patterns characterized by red meat and processed meats, fast foods, sugary beverages were identified as risk factors for most diseases. In contrast, nutritional patterns characterized by vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish were protective factors for most conditions. Meanwhile, it also put forward some problems that should be paid attention to in studying dietary patterns to provide a scientific basis for the follow-up research and the prevention and intervention of diseases. One of the most cost-effective measures in cancer prevention on cancer is to advocate to be aware of the disease, consciously changing negative behaviors, and taking the initiative to participate in regular physical checkup programs. Esophageal cancer is one of the malignant tumors accompanied by a heavy disease burden in China. Routine screening, early diagnosis, and treatment are the critical points of preventing and treating the disease. Cohort studies help understand the natural history and risk factors of esophageal cancer and identify high-risk groups of the disease. This paper intends to discuss the construction specifications of the multi-dimensional dynamic follow-up shared cohort for esophageal cancer by studying the risk factors, monitoring, and collecting biological sample information, providing references for developing a standardized and unified screening cohort research procedure, and necessary standards on esophageal cancer in the future. Objective To understand the current status of foreign dual-degree programs of Medical Doctor (MD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) and provide evidence-based decision-making reference for promoting the education of high-level applied public health talents in China. link2 Methods The list of involved institutions and information of foreign MD-MPH dual-degree programs was collected through literature retrieval, online information searching, and additional survey of key figures. We extracted the details of each project regarding professional fields, core competence, length of schooling, teaching and learning arrangement, internship eligibility, and graduation assessment. Python 3.8.0 was used for data cleaning, and the occurrence frequency of related items in each dimension was calculated. Results A total of 99 MD-MPH programs from 104 foreign institutions were included, among which 97.1% of them were implemented in universities from the United States. The School of Public Health provided 42.4% (42/99) of the programs. Epidemiology was the major discipline set up among most programs, accounting for 12.0% (29/241) of all the specialties involved. Epidemiological research methods, health policy management and practice, and public health practice were the top 3 core competencies to be mastered. Of the 99 programs, 87 gave information on the length of the program, of which 74.7% (65/87) were five years, 6.9% (6/87) were four years, and 18.4% (16/87) included both 4-year and 5-year programs. Conclusions The international MD-MPH programs were sophisticated and mainly organized by the School of Public Health alone or in conjunction with the School of Medicine. Epidemiology is the core course and competence objective, with a length of 4-5 years. Through learning experience from international MD-MPH programs and the Chinese unique medical development background, China should optimize its medical education system to develop a suitable talent training strategy for MD-MPH dual-degree programs in the new era.Cohort study has emerged as an essential tool for gaining knowledge about risk factors and prevention of diseases. The studies related to cohort population have been progressing more than 60 years in our country, while different types and numbers in cohort studies have increased dramatically with the key programs special for the cohort study were approved firstly by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China since 2016. With typical study design, cohort study is currently needed to use the latest multidisciplinary resources and methods in order to be more systematic and accurate on association analysis and causal inference of diseases. For the cohort study of general population in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, the core principles and concepts of study design, progress and the key issues targeting implementation were introduced. In addition, opportunities, bottlenecks and solutions facing us were also explored. Objective To study the genomic sequence of Coxsackievirus A8 (CV-A8) associated with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) from 2013 to 2018 in China and to analyze the genetic evolution of each coding region of the full-length genome. Methods The genome sequences of 11 CV-A8 strains isolated from patients with HFMD in different regions of China from 2013 to 2018 were determined. Sequence alignment and genetic evolution analysis were performed by Sequencher 5.0 and MEGA 7.0 software, etc. Results Sequence alignment showed that the genome length of 11 CV-A8 strains ranged from 7 393 bp to 7 400 bp. There was no base insertion or deletion in the coding region compared with the prototype strain, but there were individual base insertion or deletion in the non-coding region. The nucleotide and amino acid similarities in the VP1 region of 11 CV-A8 strains were 78.3%-98.6% and 92.6%-99.7%, respectively, and the nucleotide and amino acid sequences identities with the CV-A8 prototype strain were 78.3%-98.2% and 92.6%-99.7%, respectively. Based on the phylogenetic analysis of VP1 region sequences, the CV-A8 can be divided into five genotypes A, B, C, D and E. The 11 CV-A8 strains in this study belonged to genotypes C (1 strain), D (2 strains) and E (8 strains). The nucleotide and amino acid similarities of 11 CV-A8 full-length genomes were 81.3%-98.8% and 95.9%-99.5%, respectively. The phylogenetic tree of the P2 region showed that the eight E genotypes CV-A8 had the closest evolutionary distance with CV-A4, CV-A14, and CV-A16. link3 The phylogenetic tree of the P3 region showed that the eight E genotypes CV-A8 had a close evolutionary distance with CV-A5, CV-A16, CV-A14 and CV-A4. Conclusions The 11 CV-A8 stains in this study showed significant intra-genotype diversity in capsid region and recombinant diversity in non-capsid region which indicated that CV-A8 quasispecies were still undergoing dynamics variation. CV-A8 may become an important pathogen of HFMD and the monitoring of CV-A8 needs to be further strengthened.
