It's a horrible experience that can weaken the strongest man's soul and scar the most innocent of them all. The trenches is the vilest place where a foul stench, a mixture of horrid gas and disgusting diseases that are spread from man to man. Rats swarm the place seeking refuge in beds dug out with shovels sludge is an adherent to almost everything. Rain pours down flooding the area and fellow soldiers are left trudging thorough a unholy sludge. Unspeakable conditions of the men they broken and injured with no hope ,only a helpless feeling surrounds them. Obscene bodies protrude from the damp dirt on the ground. The trenches are bitterly cold, numbing frozen waterlogged trench. Noises of gunfire shouts and bombs are heard every day. Damp hefty sandbags line up the walls of the cramped trenches. Contaminated ,dirty distusging lice would crawl up on men and bite and irritate them. Men would be shot and keft writhing in agony.
