There are some people who I feel are just not meant to be professors. Mitchell often makes many mistakes in lecturing. I will list just a few of them: She talks casually about chemistry during lectures instead of actually trying to keep us engaged or guide us through learning the material, she often zips through the smaller details that make all the difference and seems to think we will retain them like sponges anyways, She often makes so many mistakes in class that it is impossible to follow what she is doing, makes mistakes in class and doesn't realizes until after we have had a quiz and we have to go back and change our notes/relearn material, overall she needs to work on her teaching technique instead of spewing words at the chalkboard and hoping that they might bounce off and stick onto us, and finally, she never seems to realize when she has taught something ineffectively and instead blames it on a lack of effort on the students part. Furthermore she seems to hold us to a higher standard than other professors, which shouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but when her teaching is inadequate to begin with, having the hardest tests in the department (meaning she gives no formulas, constants, or any help at all on the tests that aren't absolutely necessary) is a recipe for disaster. She also doesn't provide answers to the practice tests, which is really baffling. How am I supposed to know if I am doing things right if I can't check my answers? I often sought the help of other professors to prepare myself for tests and quizzes, even going as far as using their practice exams instead. I could go one, but I will conclude this by saying that I felt I was at a disadvantage throughout the course because of the professor's style of teaching. I believe that if I had a different professor that I would have understood the material much more and that I would have done much better in the course.
Again, I think Mitchell is a fine person, and a very knowledgeable member of the department, but I believe there is ample room for improvement. are with others. Click here ...
