omg omg
barlow edition makes darwin main character
browne and neve focus on making voyage main charcter
its a unique interest htat only barlow would have honestly bc like not many would care abt him specifically if not for his accomplishments but to her he is first and foremost her grandfather and not just the one dude that went on that one voyage
u can tell this from their language but gw
its even evident from the title
how something is framed can completely change teh meaning of hte content
as demonstrated by ha sangwook's poems
just as ha sangwook creates meaning from a few ambiguous words, editors can make a work mean whatever they want it to mean
ofc to less an extent since the content is already defined but luckily they have more than the title to make their point, they can make an entire intro/preface and subtly guide a reader to a specific interpretation that they keep in mind as they read
they can decide what they want the reader to get out of reading the body content and to some extent, are successful
although the voice of editors may not be obvious simply looking at one edition, when comparing two editions of the same work in which the editors have different motivaitons, the subtle differences in language and organization can make the goals of each edition clearer
an example of this is charles darwins journal of researches that detail his travels on the famous hms beagle
barlow thing def penultimate

conclusion: initially, sentence or two brief summary of points
thru yapping in the prefaces, the editors betray, knowingly or unknowingly, their ideas of what the book should be. browne and neve as _ barlow as _
perhaps, these intentions are so different that they cannot be considered the same book after all. they are two different works of art created by two entities whose relationship to and view of darwin vary. in fact, one does not even have to look at the preface, the focus is made evident even in their choice of title:

"*voyage of the beagle*: _"
"*charles darwin*:"

(emphasis mine obv i dont think i have tosay)

reflection:
js took notes and those were my initial thoughts
bf read paper and recognized that the order is not only chronological (mostly) to the order of the preface/intro but to darwins life, suggested each paragraph can focus on one stage of darwins life
from consulting, i got the idea of the hook being their motivation to reframe darwins story that victorians like using biographies to shape the idea of the person into someone perfect
i was doing teh mla citations first hten i realized that the titles completely confirmed my hypothesis, it was insane to feel my insight completely validated, it felt in that moment oh this has to be true, im not just yapping WWWW
as i was beginning the intro i struggled to incorporate this hook, then realized i dont have to specifically mention victorians. i can just begin with the idea of how people can have motivation to shape story. so this gave me some ability to be creative and bold with the title and then as i was thinking back to the idea of the title i was reminded of ha sangwook (i saw him on ktv show and never really forgot that poem, it was great, i have a book of some of his poems at my house) and decided to go with it even tho it was a quite ambitious hook and id have to do the work of relating it to the main point myself.
it was hard to write so eventually i just started yapping as if i was talking to a friend and pointing out my observations, then cleaned that up, then rewrote/clceaned up the body that id already written. in a way i felt as if i was doing my own framing of my own esasy, going thru teh same process, shaping what i was about to say i had to make the intro and conclusion, a surrounding hook (js like my sba frfr picked that up in soar). so i was thinking abt l ike, i dont want to just leave the intro hanging and not return to it and "close the loop" thru the conclusion then i realiszed heyyyyy i can do the thing that he did and end my essay with a title!!!!! obvi not having a title at the beginning might give away what im doing but i think dropping the titles of the books at the end for impact (showing that this title thing truly is a theme throughout, not just smth i did at the beginning) is pretty good too!
