Perovskite oxides BaFeyTi1-yO3, with y = 0, 0.6, 0.8 and 1, were prepared by ceramic (CM) and complex polymerization methods (CPM) and utilized in UV-LED (365 nm) photocatalytic degradation assays of 25 mg L-1 diclofenac (DIC) model solutions. BaTiO3-CM was also used in the photocatalytic degradation test of a real mineral water for human consumption spiked with 2 mg L-1 DIC. The XRD patterns of the synthesized perovskites showed cubic structure for those prepared by CPM, with distortions of the cubic lattice to hexagonal or tetragonal when prepared by CM, except for BaTiO3. All the perovskites showed good catalytic activity, higher than photolysis, except BaFeO3-CM that presented similar results. BaTiO3-CM and CPM and BaFeO3-CPM were also utilized in UV-LED photocatalytic DIC degradation assays with peroxydisulfate addition. BaFeO3-CPM and BaTiO3-CPM showed better ability to persulfate activation, but the highest mineralization degree was obtained with BaTiO3-CM. This last perovskite was also able to perform DIC degradation in a real matrix. The studied oxides show potentiality for photocatalytic degradation of organic compounds, with or without persulfate addition. A degradation mechanism is proposed.Haze pollution not only has a huge impact on economic development but also seriously damages the health of residents, which has attracted the attention of many countries and scholars. The geographical detector model and the panel quantile regression model are used in combination to analyze the socio-economic driving factors of haze pollution from 2010 to 2015 for 74 significantly representative countries. The main results are as follows (1) Industrial structure is the main factor affecting the haze concentration, followed by economic growth and research and development (R&D) intensity. (2) Government influence and industrial structure will significantly aggravate haze pollution, whereas the energy intensity and economic growth have an inhibitory effect on haze concentration. Countries with severe haze pollution should focus on upgrading their industrial structure and avoiding energy rebound. (3) Urbanization, foreign investment, and R&D intensity have different effects on the haze concentration among countries with different pollution levels. Specifically, the relationship between economic growth and pollution is inverted N-shaped in countries with medium haze concentration, whereas in other countries, it is positive N-shaped. Countries should actively leverage the agglomeration effect of high-density urban populations and focus on the introduction of high-quality foreign capital.Losartan potassium (LOS) is one of the most antihypertensives used in the world, and its presence in environmental matrices can cause impacts to biota. In this study, the ecotoxicity and genotoxicity of LOS was assessed before and after treatment by UVC/photolysis and UV/H2O2. The photodegradations were carried out at LOS solutions (2.5 mg L-1; 4.6 μM) for 30, 60, 90, 120, 240, and 480 min of treatment. For chromatographic analysis, the samples were submitted to solid-phase extraction (SPE) and analyzed by HPLC-DAD. Ecotoxicity bioassays were conducted using Daphnia magna (acute) and Desmodesmus subspicatus (chronic) for all the degradation times. To evaluate the genotoxicity, the comet assay was performed with a D. magna whole organism cell suspension applying the alkaline gel electrophoresis technique. For both process, the degradation rate was over 99% at 30 min, which reduced the acute toxicity of LOS to D. magna. In addition, only the sample treated at 240 min by UV/H2O2 showed significant chronic and acute toxicity. However, the genotoxicity effect was observed for samples treated LOS before treatment and at 480 min by UV/H2O2. Therefore, even reaching high LOS degradation rates, for both processes, the bioassays demonstrated the importance of ecotoxicological analyses by AOPs treatment. The theme of this paper is to explore the interconnection between financial development, real growth, and urbanization and CO2 emissions using South Africa. The study used a recent econometric technique to investigate this relationship. The data used in this study cover period between 1971 and 2016. No previous research has utilized the wavelet coherence method to collect information on the correlation and causal interaction between these economic indicators at various frequencies and timeframes in the case of South Africa. The research objectives were to fix the questions (i) if there is a stable long-run relationship among the indicators under consideration? (ii) Does financial development, economic growth, and urbanization affect CO2 emissions? (iii) How are the indicators related, at different frequencies and various periods? The outcomes affirm that (i) financial development impacts CO2 emissions positively. (ii) The linkage between urbanization and CO2 emissions is negative. (iii) Positive interaction between real growth and CO2. The results of the wavelet coherence approach support the ARDL long-term estimate. Based on these results, recommendations have been made.Changes in the preconception ambient temperature (PAT) can affect the gametogenesis, disturbing the development of the embryo, but the health risks of PAT on the developing fetus are still unclear. Here, based on the National Free Preconception Health Examination Project in the rural areas of Henan Province, we evaluate the effects of PAT on preterm birth (PTB). Data of 1,231,715 records from self-reported interviews, preconception physical examination, early gestation follow-up, and postpartum follow-up were collected from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2016. Generalized additive models were used to assess the cumulative and lag effects of PAT upon PTB. TGF-beta inhibitor The significant cumulative effects of mean temperature within 2 weeks and 3 weeks on the risk of PTB, especially upon late PTB (34-36 weeks) (P 90th percentile) within 2 weeks (RR = 1.470) and 3 weeks (RR = 1.375) before conception could increase the risk of PTB. After stratifying PTB, exposure to extreme heat within 2 weeks before conception can increase the risks of early ( less then 34 weeks) and late PTB (P less then 0.
