The effects on other targets such as opsin1 short wavelength (OPN1 SW) photoreceptor, fibrillin-1 dermal component, LL37 antimicrobial peptide and interleukin-8 (IL-8) proinflammatory cytokine were then explored. Finally, clinical pictures of acne signs were also investigated after blue LED exposures.
Dose dependent increases of ROS production were obtained on keratinocytes exposed to increasing 415nm LED exposures. However, a ROS decreasing first phase was observed on keratinocytes exposed to 415+470nm LED exposures. Moreover, comparing the same doses of 415nm wavelength and (415+470nm) wavelength combination, 415nm alone is more damaging than the 415+470nm exposures. In case of increase in ROS, decrease in OPN1 SW photoreceptor and fragmentation of fibrillin-1 dermal fiber were observed. When conditions of ROS decrease were experienced, an increase in LL37 antimicrobial peptide and a modulation of IL-8 inflammatory response were noted, suggesting improvement in acne signs. Clinical results confirmed the benefits on inflammatory lesions on subjects with acne.

To solve the problem, recycling becomes an effectual way. Therefore, the aim of this paper was to assess the economic feasibility of the photovoltaic modules recycling project in China by using cost-benefit analysis. It was found that, under the estimated treatment quantity will generate in China in 2020-2034, the recovery cost per kilowatt (kW) of photovoltaic modules will be 25.11 USD, the unit benefit is 25.68 USD/kW, and the unit net benefit is 0.57 USD/kW. The net present value (NPV) and benefit-cost ratio (BCR) are 21.14 million USD and 1.023. The sensitivity analysis indicated that the sale benefits of recycled materials and tax were the most sensitive factors affecting the project's economy. Finally, we proposed ways to improve the economy for the government and related enterprises.Although commonly viewed as a promising method, dry anaerobic digestion is not been widely applied to dispose of food wastes, especially in developing countries because of its insufficiency in handling with lower mass transfer and high acidic accumulation of the system. Zero valent iron (ZVI) has been found to demonstrate superior performance such as enhancing methane production. However, up to date, the mechanism of ZVI remains unclear. In this study, adding 5 g/L ZVI could improve interspecies hydrogen transfer (IHT) to enhance the dry anaerobic digestion of food wastes, but was unable to resist the shocks of high organic loading. With increasing ZVI dosage to 10 g/L, the performances of digestion systems were improved to maintain the systems stable. With 10 g/L of ZVI addition, electron transfer capacity of the sludge increased by 5.4 folds, and electroactive proteins of sludge increased by 2.3 folds. Microbial community analysis also indicated that the relative abundances of Methanothrix and Methanosarcina performing direct interspecies electron transfer were enriched to 67.5% and 27.2% with 10 g/L ZVI addition, respectively. These results suggested that direct interspecies electron transfer could be established with a proper dosage of ZVI that served as a conductive material to connect electron exchange among microorganisms. Thus, ZVI played a dual role including improving interspecies hydrogen transfer and promoting direct interspecies electron transfer to keep the systems efficient to treat high-solid food wastes.Waste polystyrene (PS) and polycarbonate (PC) are crucial components arising from mixtures of plastic products, whose recycling is significantly limited by separation efficiency. In this work, to assist the flotation separation of PC and PS, we proposed a novel modification technology of surface alkoxylation pretreatment (SAP) where PC surface reacted with glycerol and urea. click here The SAP could selectively transform the hydrophobic PC into hydrophilic plastic, while the PS remained its hydrophobic surface owing to the exclusion from SAP process. Benefiting from the hydrophilic PC, the separation efficiency of PS and PC could reach the maximum of 99.34% under optimum conditions (urea dosage of 5 g, pretreatment temperature of 130 °C, pretreatment time of 10 min, flotation time of 2.5 min, frother concentration of 16.5 mg/L, and airflow rate of 7.2 mL/min). The mechanism of SAP was systematically analyzed by wettability, surface morphology, molecular weight, and chemical reactions. Compared with PS plastic, the pretreated PC presented better wettability, rougher surface, and significantly reducing molecular weight. The improvement of PC hydrophilicity can be attributed to the cleavage of ester bonds on backbone chains and the introduction of hydrophilic hydroxyl groups. The effective SAP process proves that chemical recycling of waste plastic can provide a novel strategy for surface modification and flotation separation of PS and PC.
