The conventional production of 5-HMF from biomass is confronted by the relatively low yield and high production cost. In this work, the enhancement of a continuous catalytic synthesis of 5-HMF in a biphasic-dispersed flow reactor was proposed. Glucose, hydrochloric acid, and methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) were used as a low-cost raw material, catalyst, and organic solvent, respectively. The main factors (reaction temperature, residence time, solvent amount, and catalyst concentration) affecting the yield and selectivity of 5-HMF were studied. The 5-HMF yield of 81.7% and 5-HMF selectivity of 89.8% were achieved at the residence time of 3 min, reaction temperature of 180°C, the volumetric flow rate of aqueous phase to organic phase of 0.51, and catalyst concentration of 0.15 M. The yield and selectivity of 5-HMF obtained from the biphasic system were significantly higher than that obtained from the single phase system. The superior 5-HMF production in our system in terms of operating conditions was presented when compared to the literature data. Furthermore, the continuous process for removing HCl from the aqueous product was also proposed. In this study, the Hydra magnipapillata minicollagen-1 isoform was recombinantly expressed in bacteria, and a high throughput purification protocol was developed to generate milligram levels of pure protein without column chromatography. The resulting minicollagen-1 preparation demonstrated spectral properties similar to those observed with collagen and polyproline sequences as well as the ability to self-assemble into oriented fibers and bundles. Photo-crosslinking with Ru(II) ( bpy ) 3 2 + was used to create robust hydrogels that were analyzed by mechanical testing. Interestingly, the minicollagen-1 hydrogels could be dissolved with reducing agents, indicating that ruthenium-mediated photo-crosslinking was able to induce disulfide metathesis to create the hydrogels. Together, this work is an important first step in creating minicollagen-based materials whose properties can be manipulated through static and reconfigurable post-translational modifications. In addition to traditional removal methods, nitric oxide can be removed by the electrochemical reduction method. In this study, Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ powders were synthesized using a solid-state reaction method. Symmetrical cells, with Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9 as the electrolyte and Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ as the electrodes, were prepared as the electrochemical reactor for nitric oxide reduction. learn more In the process of electrochemical reduction, nitric oxide reduction occurs at the cathode and oxygen evolution occurs at the anode. To study the nitric oxide reduction performance of the electrode, impedances of the symmetrical cell in different atmospheres were analyzed. For the nitric oxide conversion in symmetric cells, two different modes, dual chamber and single chamber, were applied. Results demonstrated that the denitrification performance of the double chamber was better but the single chamber mode had other advantages in its simple structure. Presliminary stability results of the single chamber symmetric cell show that the electrochemical reduction of nitric oxide in symmetric cells with BSCF performed most reliably. This is a green and general synthetic protocol without utilization of any toxic organic solvent, ligand, base that could be applicable for the wide substrate scope in good to excellent yields. This protocol has various advantages such as fast reactions, eco-friendly reaction conditions, easy isolation of the product without using column chromatography. The green chemistry matrices calculation like atom economy reaction, environmental factor, as well as process mass intensity indicates the eco-friendly nature of the protocol. In p-i-n solar cells, the ITO/HTL is usually not ohmic, and an additional interlayer such as MoO3 is usually placed in between the two materials by vacuum sublimation. In this work, we evaluated the properties of the MoO3/TaTm (TaTm is the HTL N4,N4,N4″,N4″-tetra([1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)-[1,1'4',1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-diamine) hole extraction interface by selectively annealing either MoO3 (prior to the deposition of TaTm) or the bilayer MoO3/TaTm (without pre-treatment on the MoO3), at temperature ranging from 60 to 200°C. We then used these p-contacts for the fabrication of a large batch of fully vacuum deposited PSCs, using methylammonium lead iodide as the active layer. We show that annealing the MoO3/TaTm bilayers at high temperature is crucial to obtain high rectification with low non-radiative recombination, due to an increase of the electrode work function and the formation of an ohmic interface with TaTm. Craib. Compared with previous congeners, xuetonglactone A (1), possesses an unprecedented 20,21-α-epoxide, and xuetonglactone D (4) features an unusual 19-α-hydroperoxyl moiety. The structures and the absolute configurations of the compounds were established by extensive one- and two-dimensional NMR, and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopic analysis, with those of 1 and 5 confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited inhibition of iNOS activity in LPS-induced macrophages with IC50 values of 22.0, and 17.0 μg/mL, respectively. While compounds 6, 7, 8, and 24 showed potent cytotoxic activities against human cervical cancer cell lines (HeLa) with the IC50 values of 4.0, 5.8, 5.0, and 6.4 μM, and against human gastric cancer cells (BGC 823) with the IC50 values of 2.
