Although many types of pancreatic tumors exist, pancreatic solid serous cystadenoma stand as the most rare. Despite advances in medical imaging, definitive diagnosis remains complex. Here, we report a case of a 63-year-old man with a suspicious lesion of the pancreas discovered during a positron emission tomography-computed tomography. Despite an echo-endoscopy being performed, no biopsies were contributive. The magnetic resonance imaging did highlight another lesion in the liver. Due to the suspicion of a neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas with liver metastases, a cephalic duodenopancreatectomy with partial hepatectomy was performed. During the procedure, another hepatic lesion was resected. The final histological diagnosis was a serous solid adenoma of the pancreas associated with a cholangiocarcinoma. During the follow-up, the patient presented a massive metastatic hepatic relapse even after the administration of a palliative chemotherapy. It was previously reported that multisource, phase-controlled radiofrequency treatments provide safe and effective skin tightening and rejuvenation. The present study evaluated the effectiveness of multisource, phase-controlled radiofrequency treatments with a unique concentric electrode configuration for skin tightening. Methods Twenty-five Japanese patients were treated with the novel multisource phase-controlled radiofrequency system. Digital photographs and three-dimensional imaging were used to evaluate the results. The patients also provided subjective assessments. Results Objective assessments with digital photographs and superimposed three-dimensional color images showed significant volumetric reduction in the treated areas. Ninety-six percent of patients reported satisfaction with the results, and all patients reported satisfaction with the convenience of the procedure. Complications were minor and transitory, consisting of a slight burning sensation and mild erythema, which resolved within one hour of treatment. No side effects were observed. Conclusions The multisource phase-controlled radiofrequency treatments evaluated in this study showed efficacy with minimal discomfort and side effects. Repeated treatments using this method can provide an alternative to more invasive tightening treatments. All rights reserved.Objective We assessed clinical effectiveness, longevity of treatment effects, and patient satisfaction with incobotulinumtoxinA for glabellar frown lines (GFL) treatment in Asian patients. Design, Setting, and Participants This was a prospective, multicenter, single-arm, open-label study at six sites in Taiwan. Patients aged 20 to 65 years with mild to very severe GFLs (Merz scale 1-4 points) were eligible; 45 patients [including 23 BoNT/A-naïve and 22 previously-treated ("switch") patients were enrolled. Patients received intramuscular incobotulinumtoxinA injection at up to five injection points. Total doses ranged from 12 to 20U. Measurements Investigators assessed improvements in dynamic GFLs at Days 14 and 120 using the validated five-point Merz scale (0=no lines; 4=very severe lines). Treatment satisfaction was self-reported by patients via questionnaire. Results All patients showed excellent response to treatment in that Merz scores at Day 14 were 0 or 1 point(s). Both groups showed a mean improvement of 2.9 points; the response rate (1-point improvement or more from baseline) was 100 percent. GFL improvement was maintained over at least four months in both groups (mean improvements at Day 120 1.5 points, naïve; 1.7 points, switch). Patient satisfaction ratings remained high (almost 100% in both groups) throughout the study. There were no statistically significant differences between groups regarding treatment satisfaction or GFL improvement (Merz score) at Days 14 and 120. No adverse events occurred. Conclusion In Asian patients, incobotulinumtoxinA treatment for dynamic GFLs is effective and long lasting, with no expected differences between BoNT/A-naïve patients and those switching from other BoNT/As. Treatment is typically surgical, whether by Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) or wide local excision (WLE). However, there is a paucity of literature describing functional neurologic outcomes following surgical extirpation of facial DFSP. Thus, we sought to examine the functional neurologic outcomes in patients undergoing either MMS or WLE for facial DFSP. Methods Two patients with DFSP involving facial nerve danger zones treated by the multidisciplinary team with MMS and subsequent reconstruction were studied. Additionally, a comprehensive literature review of facial DFSP with regard to neurologic functional status was performed. Results From our research, only 10 of 46 patients with facial DFSP had neurologic functional status reported, with four of these cases having notable facial nerve deficits. Of our cases, both patients experienced transient neurologic deficits and neither had evidence of recurrence.
