This is important for improving the performance of a code and avoiding the presence of low-weight codewords and absorbing sets.In this research, the challenging problem of Covid-19 mitigation is looked at from an engineering point of view. At first, the behavior of coronavirus in the Iranian and Russian societies is expressed by a set of ordinary differential equations. In the proposed model, the control input signals are vaccination, social distance and facial masks, and medical treatment. The unknown parameters of the system are estimated by long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithm. In the LSTM algorithm, the problem of long-term dependency is prevented. The uncertainty and measurement noises are inherent characteristics of epidemiological models. For this reason, an extended Kalman filter (EKF) is developed to estimate the state variables of the proposed model. In continuation, a robust sliding mode controller is designed to control the spread of coronavirus under vaccination, social distance and facial masks, and medical treatment. The stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed by the Lyapunov theorems. The official confirmed data provided by the Iranian and Russian ministries of health are employed to simulate the proposed algorithms. It is understood from simulation results that global vaccination has the potential to create herd immunity in long term. Under the proposed controller, daily Covid-19 infections and deaths become less than 500 and 10 people, respectively.This paper presents results of the effect of different translation modalities on users when working with the Microsoft Word user interface. An experimental study was set up with 84 Japanese, German, Spanish, and English native speakers working with Microsoft Word in three modalities the published translated version, a machine translated (MT) version (with unedited MT strings incorporated into the MS Word interface) and the published English version. An eye-tracker measured the cognitive load and usability according to the ISO/TR 16982 guidelines i.e., effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction followed by retrospective think-aloud protocol. The results show that the users' effectiveness (number of tasks completed) does not significantly differ due to the translation modality. However, their efficiency (time for task completion) and self-reported satisfaction are significantly higher when working with the released product as opposed to the unedited MT version, especially when participants are less experienced. The eye-tracking results show that users experience a higher cognitive load when working with MT and with the human-translated versions as opposed to the English original. MK-8245 in vivo The results suggest that language and translation modality play a significant role in the usability of software products whether users complete the given tasks or not and even if they are unaware that MT was used to translate the interface.We propose multimodal machine translation (MMT) approaches that exploit the correspondences between words and image regions. In contrast to existing work, our referential grounding method considers objects as the visual unit for grounding, rather than whole images or abstract image regions, and performs visual grounding in the source language, rather than at the decoding stage via attention. We explore two referential grounding approaches (i) implicit grounding, where the model jointly learns how to ground the source language in the visual representation and to translate; and (ii) explicit grounding, where grounding is performed independent of the translation model, and is subsequently used to guide machine translation. Anthocyanins are naturally found antioxidants and well-known for their preventive effects in neurodegenerative disorders. Black carrots (Daucus carota L. ssp. sativus var. atrorubens Alef.) are a rich source of anthocyanins predominantly including acylated cyanidin-based derivatives making them more stable. However, there have been no reports analysing the neuroprotective role of black carrot anthocyanins (BCA) on PD. In order to investigate the potential neuroprotective effect of BCA, human SH-SY5Y cells were treated with MPP+ (1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium) to induce PD associated cell death and cytotoxicity. Anthocyanins were extracted from black carrots and the composition was determined by HPLC-DAD. SH-SY5Y cells were co-incubated with BCA (2.5, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 µg/ml) and 0.5 mM MPP+ to determine the neuroprotective effect of BCA against MPP+ induced cell death and cytotoxicity. Results indicate that BCA concentrations did not have any adverse effect on cell viability. BCA revealed its cytoprotective effect, especially at higher concentrations (50, 100 µg/ml) by increasing metabolic activity and decreasing membrane damage. BCA exhibited antioxidant activity via scavenging MPP+ induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and protecting dopaminergic neurons from ROS mediated apoptosis. These results suggest a neuroprotective effect of BCA due to its high antioxidant and antiapoptotic activity, along with the absence of cytotoxicity. The elevated stability of BCA together with potential neuroprotective effects may shed light to future studies in order to elucidate the mechanism and further neuro-therapeutic potential of BCA which is promising as a neuroprotective agent.

Taraxasterol (TAX), a kind of phytosterol, has been proved to exert anti-tumor functions in GC. Herein, the current work was carried out to identify the biological role of TAX and molecular mechanisms underlying TAX in the progression of GC. In the present study, CCK-8 assay, Colony formation assay, EDU staining and TUNEL staining were performed to evaluate the malignant behaviors of GC cells. Levels of proliferation and apoptosis-associated proteins were assessed using western blotting analysis. Besides, GPD2 expression in GC cells was presented on CCLE database and the interaction between TAX and GPD2 was obtained from STRING database. The glucose uptake, lactate production, LDH activity, ATP and expressions of glycolysis-associated enzymes were measured to evaluate glycolysis level. Results of the present research revealed that TAX suppressed the proliferative and clone-forming abilities of GC cells and boosted the apoptosis of GC cells. TAX reduced GPD2 expression in GC cells. Furthermore, overexpression of GPD2 reversed the inhibitory effects of TAX on the proliferative and clone-forming abilities of GC cells as well as abolished the promoting effects of TAX on the apoptosis of GC cells. Besides, upregulation of GPD2 abrogated the inhibition of TAX on glycolysis. To conclude, TAX could suppress GC progression via inhibiting GPD2-mediated glycolysis, which helps to develop a promising molecular target for GC therapies.Parkinson's disease (PD) is an adult-onset neurodegenerative condition caused by oxidative stress and mitochondrial malfunction. In this study, the neuroprotective and neuritogenic activity of water fraction (Sw-fr) containing sorbicillin-like active metabolites of halotolerant P. flavigenum isolated from Salt Lake in Konya, Turkey were investigated on a 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced PD in vitro PC-12 Adh cell model. Firstly, Sw-fr containing sorbicillin-like active metabolites were extracted from P. flavigenum and was compared with a sorbicillin standard by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Then, the effects of non-cytotoxic concentrations of Sw-fr on the 6-OHDA-induced PD cell model were investigated via real-time cell proliferation analysis using the RTCA DP instrument. The effects of these concentrations on mitochondrial membrane integrity, caspase-3 were investigated by flow cytometry. Neurite outgrowth analysis and immunofluorescence staining were used to explore the neuritogenic effects of neuroprotective doses. By improving PC-12 Adh cell viability, decreasing reactive oxygen species production, and reducing apoptotic cell death, 1 and 10 μg/mL Sw-fr and sorbicillin standard proved neuroprotective against 6-OHDA-induced neurotoxicity. Furthermore, 1 and 10 µg/mL Sw-fr significantly induced neurite outgrowth. As a result, sorbicillin-like active metabolites containing Sw-fr were found to have neuroprotective and neuritogenic effects. Sorbicillin-like metabolites obtained from fungi may be novel natural medicines for neurodegenerative diseases.

The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s10616-021-00498-9.Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are easily available and play an important role in regenerative medicine. In recent years, Cell spheroid models have been in the spotlight because of their various advantages and physiological proximity. Promoting the spreading of ADSCs spheroids may improve the therapeutic effect the transplanted ADSCs. In this study, we prepared autologous decellularized extracellular matrix (d-ECM) and ADSCs spheroids, and investigated in vitro spreading of the spheroids on the d-ECM-coated substrate. In addition, the effect of d-ECM powder (ECM-P) on the aggregation of ADSCs was analyzed in a three-dimensional (3D) culture system. The results showed that d-ECM accelerated the spreading of spheroids, and promoted the migration and proliferation of the surrounding monolayer cells, accompanied by ERK1/2 activation and an increase in the expression of MMP2 and MMP9. In addition, ECM-P facilitated the aggregation of free cells in 3D culture in a concentration-dependent way. The spheroid spreading and cell aggregation were both prevented by ERK1/2 selective inhibitor PD98059. Our data suggest that the d-ECM substrate and its derivant may regulate the transformation between ADSCs spheroids and the monolayer or free cells, and ERK1/2 signalling pathway may be involved in these processes.
