6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 (NCM-622)||Si@Gr/C-SCS) to understand the material/electrode intrinsic degradation as well as the impact of the polymer coating on active lithium losses because of the continuous SEI (re)formation. The anode composites exhibit a high capacity reaching over 600 mAh g-1, and even without electrolyte optimization, the Si@Gr/C-SCS illustrates a superior long cycle life performance of up to 1000 cycles (over 67% capacity retention). The excellent long-term cycling stability of the anodes was attributed to the SCS polymer coating acting as the A-SEI. The simple polymer coating process is highly interesting in guiding the preparation of long-cycle-life electrode materials of high-energy LIB cells.
The clinical examination of lame horses in real world settings often requires the use of sloped surfaces.

This pilot study aimed to evaluate the effects of uphill and downhill locomotion on asymmetry in horses with naturally occurring lameness affecting forelimbs and hindlimbs.

Ten horses (8-19 years) with forelimb lameness and eight horses (7-16years) with hindlimb lameness were fitted with inertial sensors at the poll, withers, sacrum and both tuber coxae. Data were collected whilst the horses were trotted in hand on a level surface (<0.7%), as well as up and down a minor slope of 2.4%. Data were collected for a minimum of 25 strides at each incline type. Effect of incline was compared using a repeated measures ANOVA and, where significant, a subsequent Bonferroni's multiple comparisons.

Of the horses with hindlimb lameness, there were reductions in asymmetry seen during downhill locomotion when compared with trotting on the flat (flat 6.6 ± 4.4mm to downhill 1.9 ± 2.9mm; p = 0.015) and when compared with uphill locomotion (8.4 ± 4.3mm; p = 0.007). Horses with forelimb lameness showed no significant difference in asymmetry. However, there were considerable changes in poll asymmetry (>20mm) among conditions in individual horses. Two horses with hindlimb lameness and two horses with forelimb lameness switched asymmetry between left and right by changing incline.

These results confirm that incline can be an influential factor in the assessment of lame horses. Further work is justified to elucidate the types of pathology associated with the most relevant changes in asymmetry which would allow the use of an incline to prioritise a list of differential diagnoses.

This study aimed to investigate the long-term efficacy of DFP monotherapy on serum ferritin (SF) and adverse events. All thalassemia patients aged 15 years or older who received DFP monotherapy were identified from the thalassemia registry database between November 2008 and October 2019. After treatment, patients who achieved a target SF level, defined as A)/β-thalassemia (β-thal) and 60.0% were TDT patients. The median DFP dose was 63 (47-73) mg/kg/d and the median follow-up duration of treatment was 36 (20-54) months. A total of 58 (55.24%) patients were in the achievable group. The initial SF level less then 1350.0 ng/mL was significantly associated with achieving a targeted SF level (p = 0.002). Ten adverse events resulted in withholding DFP. The most common was gastrointestinal irritation in four patients and three patients with agranulocytosis. In conclusion, DFP is an effective iron chelator in thalassemia patients. Slightly more than half the patients (55.0%) achieved a target SF level. Lower SF levels at the beginning were an important factor.Suicidal attempts (SA) represent heterogeneous behaviours ranging in their seriousness from fatal and near-fatal (high-lethality) cases to those that do not require medical attention (low lethality). These considerations stress the need to identify high-risk individuals for high lethality SA in order to target suicide preventive interventions. The present study aims at evaluating the role of sociodemographic and clinical variables and examining personality pathological features in predicting high lethality SA. The sample was composed by 94 patients who were consecutively admitted to the Mood Disorders Unit of the San Raffaele Turro Hospital in Milan. The results of binary logistic regression analyses showed that previous SA and current suicide ideation play a role in predicting serious SA. Considering the DSM-5 personality dysfunctional domains assessed by the Personality Inventory for DSM-5, our logistic regression analyses suggested that high lethality SA was associated with Detachment PID-5 domain. read more Finally, binary hierarchical regression analysis showed that Detachment domain remained a significant predictor of serious SA over and above the effect of previous SA and suicide ideation. As a whole, our results highlight the importance of a multidimensional approach to develop adequate assessment, effective treatments and prevention of high lethality SA risk.
Undue concerns about the consequences of fever and its inappropriate management have been documented worldwide among physicians. However, no data exist on medical students. We investigated the perception, knowledge and attitude towards childhood fever among final-year medical students.

Between June and September 2021, final-year medical students of six Italian universities were invited to complete an online survey on their conceptions and attitude towards pharmacological and non-pharmacological management of childhood fever. History of relevant personal or second-hand experience with childhood fever was also addressed. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were used.

Of 1095 (69%) final-year medical students, 756 completed the survey. Many students believe that high fever might cause brain damage, would recommend physical methods and alternate two drugs for fever. Most students do not think that fever has mainly beneficial effects. In Northern Italy, students are less likely to believe that fever might lead to brain damage (OR 0.55, 95% CI 0.33-0.94), and in Southern Italy students are more likely to advise physical methods (OR 1.77, 95% CI 1.22-2.57) and less likely to believe that fever has mainly beneficial effects (OR 0.55, 95% CI 0.39-0.77). History of a relevant personal episode of fever during childhood was not associated with these outcomes.

Misconceptions about fever are common among final-year medical students in Italy. Cultural factors rather than individually learned traits might underlie these beliefs. Medical students are a promising target for educational interventions to improve childhood fever management.

The current study investigates acculturation in a group of teenagers and young adults who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) and who were raised in an age of early identification, early intervention, advanced audiologic technology, and inclusive education.

The Deaf Acculturation Scale ( Maxwell-McCaw & Zea 2011 ) was administered via online survey to 106 teenagers and young adults (mean ages = 16.87 and 24.65 years, respectively). All participants were alumni of an early childhood program for children who are DHH in the United States learning listening and spoken language skills.

The majority of the participants scored as hearing acculturated (79%), with 1% scoring as deaf acculturated, and 20% as bicultural. Teenagers and adults did not differ significantly on acculturation. Participants who identified as hearing acculturated were less likely to use sign language with their friends, at work, or with their families than those who identified as bicultural.

These results are in contrast to acculturation patterns reported in other populations of young DHH adults, indicating the need to continue investigating the diversity in cultural values, beliefs, and practices of people who are DHH.

This failure led us to the revised strategy. The influence of the stereocenter in 5-oxazolidinone enabled selective installation of the C-2 stereocenter. The intramolecular aldol reaction of the C-2 stereodefined aldol substrate was successful. An unexpected hydrolytic dynamic kinetic resolution was observed in hydrolyses of the bicyclic aldol products. This unprecedented substrate-driven hydrolytic dynamic kinetic resolution was utilized in preparing the pyrrolidinone core with excellent efficiency. Through this strategy, the concise total syntheses of salinosporamides A and B as well as cinnabaramides A, E, and F were achieved with high selectivity.Direct Z-scheme Cu7 S4 /CdS Janus photocatalysts are successfully prepared by cation exchange method. Extensive studies containing single-nanoparticle impact electrochemistry are performed and reveal that optimizing the Cu7 S4 /CdS ratio can decrease the accumulation of holes on valence band of CdS for inhibiting photo-corrosion and promote the accumulation of electrons on the conduction band of Cu7 S4 for boosting the electron reducibility. With the optimized heterostructures, hydrogen evolution is remarkable promoted up to 21.62 mmol/g/h and quantum efficiency is up to 14.37% using polylactic acid plastic waste as feedstock.
Morphological changes in the epidermis layer are critical for the diagnosis and assessment of various skin diseases. Due to its noninvasiveness, optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a good candidate for observing microstructural changes in skin. Convolutional neural network (CNN) has been successfully used for automated segmentation of the skin layers of OCT images to provide an objective evaluation of skin disorders. Such method is reliable, provided that a large amount of labeled data is available, which is very time-consuming and tedious. The scarcity of patient data also puts another layer of difficulty to make the model more generalizable.

We developed a semisupervised representation learning method to provide data augmentations.

We used rodent models to train neural networks for accurate segmentation of clinical data.

The learning quality is maintained with only one OCT labeled image per volume that is acquired from patients. Data augmentation introduces a semantically meaningful variance, allowing for better generalization.
