With the in-depth research on bone repair process, and the progress in bone repair materials preparation and characterization, a variety of artificial bone substitutes have been fully developed in the treatment of bone related diseases such as bone defects. However, the current various natural or synthetic biomaterials are still unable to achieve the structure and properties of natural bone. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have provided a new direction for the development of new materials in the field of bone repair due to their excellent structural stability, mechanical properties, and functional group modifiability. Moreover, CNTs and their composites have broad prospects in the design of bone repair materials and as drug delivery carriers. This paper describes the advantages of CNTs related to bone tissue regeneration from the aspects of morphology, chemistry, mechanics, electromagnetism, and biosafety, as well as the application of CNTs in drug delivery carriers and reinforcement components of scaffold materials. In addition, the potential problems and prospects of CNTs in bone regenerative medicine are discussed.

Reflect on and write a short account of.The extent of parental knowledge is an important factor in the care of children with congenital heart disease (CHD), with research recommending that to achieve optimal care, parents should be appropriately educated in the condition. This literature review aimed to identify the factors that influence parents' knowledge of their child's CHD. Relevant databases were searched for literature using appropriate search terms. Thematic analysis identified four common themes in six articles the educational technique used, the parents' educational background, effective communication and the source of information. The findings identified a need for improved delivery and communication of parental education.Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is characterized by glycemia and insulin disorders. Bile acids (BAs) have emerged as vital signaling molecules in glucose metabolic regulation. BA change in GDM is still unclear, which exerts great significance to illustrate the change of BAs in GDM. GDM patients and normal pregnant women were enrolled during the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) screening period. Fasting serums were sampled for the measurement of BAs. BA metabolism profiles were analyzed in both pregnant women with GDM and those with normal glucose tolerance (NGT). Delivery characteristics, delivery gestational age, and infant birthweight were extracted from medical records. GDM patients presented distinctive features compared with NGT patients, including higher body mass index (BMI), elevated serum glucose concentration, raised insulin (both fasting and OGTT), and increased hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels. Higher homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and decreased β-cell compensation (i.e., oral disposition index (DIo)) were also prevalent in this group. Total BAs (TBAs) remained stable, but glycodeoxycholic acid (GDCA) and taurodeoxycholic acid (TDCA) levels declined significantly in GDM. GDCA was inversely correlated with HOMA-IR and positively correlated with DIo. No obvious differences in clinical outcome between the GDM and NGT groups were observed. However, GDM patients with high HOMA-IR and low DIo tended to have a higher cesarean delivery rate and younger delivery gestational age. check details In conclusion, GDCA provides a valuable biomarker to evaluate HOMA-IR and DIo, and decreased GDCA levels predict poorer clinical outcomes for GDM.
To coat a zirconia surface with silica-zirconia using a dip-coating technique and evaluate its effect on resin-zirconia shear bond strength (SBS).
A silica-zirconia suspension was prepared and used to coat a zirconia surface using a dip-coating technique. One hundred and eighty-nine zirconia disks were divided into three groups according to their different surface treatments (polishing, sandblasting, and silica-zirconia coating). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the differently treated zirconia surfaces. Different primer treatments (Monobond N, Z-PRIME Plus, and no primer) were also applied to the zirconia surfaces. Subsequently, 180 composite resin cylinders (Filtek Z350) were cemented onto the zirconia disks with resin cement (RelyX Ultimate). The SBS was measured after water storage for 24 h or 6 months. The data were analyzed by two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
SEM and EDX showed that the silica-zirconia coating produced a porous layer with additional Si, and XRD showed that only tetragonal zirconia was on the silica-zirconia-coating surface. Compared with the control group, the resin-zirconia SBSs of the sandblasting group and silica-zirconia-coating group were significantly increased (
<0.05). The silica-zirconia coating followed by the application of Monobond N produced the highest SBS (
<0.05). Water aging significantly reduced the resin-zirconia SBS (
<0.05).
Dip-coating with silica-zirconia might be a feasible way to improve resin-zirconia bonding.
