Multidetector worked out tomography research to measure thoracic aorta diameters in Egyptian population.
8 nm, and a cumulative surface area of 710.36 m²/g were produced. The 2% pegylated MSN formulation (PCMSN) had the highest DOX loading capacity (0.98 mgdox/mgmsn), and a sustained release profile over 72 h. Pegylated-drug nanoconjugates were effective at a concentration range between 20-50 μg/mL, inducing apoptosis in cancer cells, and affirming their potential as effective drug delivery vehicles.Antimicrobial coatings are a promising strategy to counteract the spreading of multi-drug-resistant pathogens through cross-contamination of surfaces. Coatings with nanostructured characteristics can exploit the different antimicrobial mechanisms of nanomaterials provided the composition, the morphology and the mechanical properties of the film can be tuned by the specific synthesis methods. This review addresses the synthesis of antibacterial nanostructured coatings with a focus on physical synthesis methods. After a short description of the bacteria-NP interaction mechanism, leading to the killing of cells, paradigmatic examples of coatings, obtained by magnetron sputtering and supersonic cluster beam deposition, are discussed, with an emphasis on the possibility of combining different elements into the coating to widen the bactericidal spectrum.A series of water-soluble copper(II) complexes based on 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) and mixed-ligands, containing PTA=O (1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane-7-oxide) have been synthesized and fully characterized. Two types of complexes have been obtained, monocationic [Cu(NO3)(O-PTA=O)(dmphen)][PF6] (1), [Cu(Cl)(dmphen)2][PF6] (2), and neutral [Cu(NO3)2(dmphen)] (3). The solid-state structures of all complexes have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Magnetic studies for the complex 1-3 indicated a very weak antiferromagnetic interaction between copper(II) ions in crystal lattice. Complexes were successfully evaluated for their cytotoxic activities on the normal human dermal fibroblast (NHDF) cell line and the antitumor activity using the human lung carcinoma (A549), epithelioid cervix carcinoma (HeLa), colon (LoVo), and breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) cell lines. Complexes 1 and 3 revealed lower toxicity to NHDF than A549 and HeLa cells, meanwhile compound 2 appeared to be more toxic to NHDF cell line in comparison to all cancer lines. Additionally, interactions between the complexes and human apo-transferrin (apo-Tf) using fluorescence and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy were also investigated. All compounds interacted with apo-transferrin, causing same changes of the protein conformation. Electrostatic interactions dominate in the 1/2 - apo- Tf systems and hydrophobic and ionic interactions in the case of 3.The present work was addressed to the closed-cell aluminum (Al)-silicon carbide (SiC) particles (15 wt.%) with graphene (0.5 wt.%) reinforced hybrid composite foam, which was produced through the melt route process. VU661013 Under the strain rates ranging from 500 s-1 to 2760 s-1, the compression deformation behavior of hybrid composite foam was executed. The compression results disclosed that plateau stress along with energy absorption of produced hybrid composite foam are heightened with strain rates and is also discovered to be responsive to the relative density under the confront domain of experiments. Analysis of Variance was deployed for optimizing parameters such as strain rates, mass, density, relative density, and pore size. Furthermore, the contribution of each optimized parameters on plateau stress and energy absorption were observed.Neurodegenerative diseases are progressive diseases of the nervous system that lead to neuron loss or functional disorders. Neurodegenerative diseases require long-term, sometimes life-long pharmacological treatment, which increases the risk of adverse effects and a negative impact of pharmaceuticals on the patients' general condition. One of the main problems related to the treatment of this type of condition is the limited ability to deliver drugs to the brain due to their poor solubility, low bioavailability, and the effects of the blood-brain barrier. Given the above, one of the main objectives of contemporary scientific research focuses on the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases. As disorders related to the competence of the antioxidative system are a marker in all diseases of this type, the primary prophylactics should entail the use of exogenous antioxidants, particularly ones that can be used over extended periods, regardless of the patient's age, and that are easily available, e.g., as part of a diet or as diet supplements. The paper analyzes the significance of the oxidoreductive balance in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. Based on information published globally in the last 10 years, an analysis is also provided with regard to the impact of exogenous antioxidants on brain functions with respect to the prevention of this type of diseases. This study aims to enhance the low-frequency induction heating (LFIH) effect in a thermoplastic polymer doped with iron oxide magnetic particles, which are promising candidates for several medical applications thanks to their confirmed biocompatibility. Two main approaches were proposed to successfully boost the heating ability; i.e., improving the magnetic concentration of the composite with higher filler content of 30 wt %, and doubling the frequency excitation after optimization of the inductor design. To test the magnetic properties of the ferromagnetic composite, a measurement of permeability as a function of temperature, frequency, and particle content was carried out. Thermal transfer based COMSOL simulations together with experimental tests have been performed, demonstrating feasibility of the proposed approach to significantly enhance the target temperature in a magnetic composite. These results are encouraging and confirmed that IH can be exploited in medical applications, especially for the treatment of varicose veins where local heating remains a true challenge. It is well known that myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) [...].
