We measured floral offer for each season. The data of pollen use per colony were utilized to perform Bipartite networks. We analyzed the production of gynes and pollen use per season with correlation models and generalized linear models. Colonies of the rainy season produced more gynes and faster. The floral diversity and offer were higher during the rainy season. Successful colonies used specific pollen sources in two seasons, independently of the floral offer. Extreme dry season affected development of B. atratus colonies.Most cultivars of apple trees are highly dependent on insects for successful pollination and fruit production. In this study, we evaluated the insect diversity in apple orchards of southern Brazil and verified whether or not there is a relationship between the diversity of insect visitors and the characteristics (weight, seed number, and symmetry) of the fruits of 'Fuji' and 'Gala' apples produced by the orchards. We also evaluated the diversity of insects on flowering weeds within apple orchards and compared it with the apple flowers. Diversity of anthophilous insects was low, in general, and differed between the regions. Furthermore, regarding insect diversity, orchards were grouped by management system organic orchards were more similar to each other than to conventional orchards. The insect diversity of weed flowers was higher than apple flowers, but insect abundance was greater on apple flowers, suggesting that weeds may increase insect diversity within apple orchards and may sustain pollinators. We found a positive effect of insect diversity on the number of seeds of 'Fuji' apples and of honeybee abundance on their weight, suggesting that honeybee management is important in the studied areas. In contrast, we found no significant effect of insect diversity and abundance on 'Gala' apple characteristics. Despite this, the analyses of the seeds of 'Gala' apples indicate that the orchards may suffer a pollination deficit, which could be overcome by improving insect pollination. These results reinforce previous findings that insect diversity is important for apple yield, but its influence varies with cultivar.This study aims to analyse the stress distributions and initial displacements of teeth during the space closing stage through a three-dimensional finite element method. In this study, we proposed novel descriptors to trace the evolution of Poincaré plot shape over the lags. Their reliability in ultra-short cardiovascular series analysis was validated on synthetic inter-beat series generated through a physiologically plausible integral pulse frequency modulation model. Furthermore, we used the proposed approach for the investigation of the direct relationship between autonomic nervous system (ANS) dynamics and hedonic olfactory elicitation, in a group of 30 healthy subjects. Participants with a similar olfactory threshold were selected, and were asked to score 5-s stimuli in terms of arousal and valence levels according to the Russell's circumflex model of affect. Their ANS response was investigated in 35-s windows after the elicitation. Experimental results showed a gender-specific, high discriminant power of the proposed approach, discerning between pleasant and unpleasant odorants with an accuracy of 83.33% and 73.33% for men and for women, respectively. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to (1) characterize acute post-concussion (0-3 days) RT impairments, (2) examine RT recovery over time, and (3) explore moderating factors related to acute RT impairment following concussion. METHODS Database searches (PubMed, CINAHL, EBSCOhost) were conducted according to PRISMA guidelines for articles published in English from January 2002 to March 2019. Studies compared baseline-to-post-injury RT within individuals (within-subject) and/or RT in concussed individuals to non-concussed controls (between-subject). Sixty studies met inclusion criteria, reporting on a total of 9688 participants with 214 discrete RT effects (Hedges' d; between-subject N = 29, k = 129; within-subject N = 42, k = 85).
