OBJECTIVES to understand the psychosocial repercussions experienced by caregiving parents, resulting from care for the child with dysphagic cleft lip and palate. METHODS qualitative study, developed in a tertiary hospital in September 2016. The sample defined by theoretical saturation consisted of seven mothers. Data collection was performed by unstructured interview, being audio-recorded and fully transcribed. Symbolic Interactionism was used as theoretical framework, and Thematic Content Analysis as methodological framework. RESULTS the following themes emerged diagnosisimpact and coping; coping with overload and stress; interaction between caregivers as an acceptance and coping strategy; impact on family and social life of caregivers; and curiosity coping, and family and community prejudice. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS despite the physical and emotional overload, the mother figure plays the main and determining role in care, reflecting the complexity of care.OBJETIVES to analyze the implication of the training/continuing education process of professionals of the Expanded Nucleus of Family Health and Basic Care (Portuguese acronym Nasf-AB) for their interprofessional performance. METHODS a qualitative case study performed with Nasf-AB teams representative of four macro-regions of health of the state of Santa Catarina. Participation of 43 professionals, who answered collective interviews. The results were later submitted to thematic analysis. RESULTS the training is strongly influenced by the Biomedical Model, which acts as an obstacle to interprofessional performance, given the challenges in the daily routine of Nasf-AB professionals. Continuing education emerges as a potential for the successful collaborative work among teams, and between the teams and Family Health professionals. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS there are important limits in the training of professionals. However, the constant interprofessional development promoted by strategies of continuing education contributes to broaden the support and collaborative practices that qualify services and strengthen Basic Care.OBJECTIVES to analyze the training of Family Health Strategy health professionals who work in dangerous territories affected by the armed conflict and its consequences in their practice. METHODS a qualitative-intervention research carried out with thirteen health professionals, using as a theoretical-methodological framework the institutional socioclinic. RESULTS they present and discuss from the analysis of implications of researcher and participants with training, and professional practices and transformations that occurred as intervention work progresses. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS learning strategies should incorporate empirical and scientifically proven knowledge. Thus, the spectrum of this knowledge would expand dynamically where the situation of violence in its manifestation of armed conflict is a social and political issue and not just a gap in training.OBJECTIVES to identify the applicability of the Phil Barker's Tidal Model in mental health nursing care. METHODS an integrative literature review carried out by LILACS, MEDLINE, Scopus and Web of Science. Data were collected from December 2017 to March 2018. After selecting the studies, the sample totaled 24 articles. RESULTS the articles are in English (91.7%), were published in nursing journals (87.5%), are reflective and/or theoretical (50%) and have level of evidence VII (79.2%). The model brings contributions to nursing science, enabling person-centered care, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary work, nurses' protagonism and the empowerment of subjects in mental suffering. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS the use of the Tidal Model enables changes in nurses practice working in the context of mental health. Its application by nurses who work in mental health services in Brazil is recommended.OBJECTIVES to analyze the canvas "Retrato de Glete de Alcântara" (freely translated as Portrait of Glete de Alcântara) and discuss the effect of the canvas for Tarsila do Amaral and for Brazilian nursing. METHODS a study in the historical perspective, in the field of visual culture, with analysis in two phases pre-iconography and iconography. RESULTS Tarsila do Amaral brings up the woman Glete de Alcântara without the attributes that identify nursing. In this sense, the representation of women on the canvas is a person aligned with the hairstyle of her time, elegantly dressed, with seriousness and haughtiness accentuated by a fixed and directed look. this website FINAL CONSIDERATIONS an attempt was made to advance beyond Glete de Alcântara's professional life and her portrayed relationship networks, as well as to approach Tarsila do Amaral's trajectory, beyond the aesthetics and recognition gained.OBJECTIVES to assess the relation of the locus of control with the adolescents' knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP). METHODS this is a cross-sectional study with 1,192 high school students. Data were collected using the KAP questionnaire and the Levenson locus of control scale and analyzed by descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test. RESULTS Women presented higher Externality Powerful Others locus of control than man (p=0.0015) and adolescents over 17, higher Externality Chance locus of control (p= less then 0.0001). Students who used contraceptive methods at the first contraceptive method had higher Externality Powerful Others (p=0.0107) and those who used coitus interruptus, had higher Externality Chance (p=0.0013). Internality was inversely proportional to the practice in relation to the dimensions of the locus of control. CONCLUSIONS The dimensions of the locus of control were related to some contraceptive practices, but little or no relation to knowledge and attitude.INTRODUCTION This study investigated the effect of a calcium hydroxide (CH) paste (CleaniCal®) containing N-2-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) as a vehicle on Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) biofilms compared with other products containing saline (Calasept Plus™) or propylene glycol (PG) (Calcipex II®). METHODOLOGY Standardized bovine root canal specimens were used. The antibacterial effects were measured by colony-forming unit counting. The thickness of bacterial microcolonies and exopolysaccharides was assessed using confocal laser scanning microscopy. Morphological features of the biofilms were observed using field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Bovine tooth blocks covered with nail polish were immersed into the vehicles and dispelling was observed. The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance and Tukey tests (p less then 0.05). RESULTS CleaniCal® showed the highest antibacterial activity, followed by Calcipex II® (p less then 0.05). Moreover, NMP showed a higher antibacterial effect compared with PG (p less then 0.
