The development of new technologies to produce three-dimensional and biocompatible scaffolds associated with high-end cell culture techniques have shown to be promising for the regeneration of tissues and organs. Some biomedical devices, as meniscus prosthesis, require high flexibility and tenacity and such features are found in polyurethanes which represent a promising alternative. The Poly(PCL-TMC)urethane here presented, combines the mechanical properties of PCL with the elasticity attributed by TMC and presents great potential as a cellular carrier in cartilage repair. Scanning electron microscopy showed the presence of interconnected pores in the three-dimensional structure of the material. The scaffolds were submitted to proliferation and cell differentiation assays by culturing mesenchymal stem cells in bioreactor. The tests were performed in dynamic flow mode at the rate of 0.4 mL/min. Laser scanning confocal microscopy analysis showed that the flow rate promoted cell growth and cartilage ECM synthesis of aggrecan and type II collagen within the Poly(PCL-TMC)urethane scaffolds. This study demonstrated the applicability of the polymer as a cellular carrier in tissue engineering, as well as the ECM was incremented only when under oriented flow rate stimuli. Therefore, our results may also provide data on how oriented flow rate in dynamic bioreactors culture can influence cell activity towards cartilage ECM synthesis even when specific molecular stimuli are not present. This work addresses new perspectives for future clinical applications in cartilage tissue engineering when the molecular factors resources could be scarce for assorted reasons.
The need of a standardized reporting scheme and language, in imaging of COVID-19 pneumonia, has been welcomed by major scientific societies. The aim of the study was to build the reporting scheme of chest CT in COVID-19 pneumonia.
A team of experts, of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM), has been recruited to compose a consensus panel. They used a modified Delphi process to build a reporting scheme and expressed a level of agreement for each section of the report. To measure the internal consistency of the panelist ratings for each section of the report, a quality analysis based on the average inter-item correlation was performed with Cronbach's alpha (Cα) correlation coefficient.
The overall mean score of the experts and the sum of score were 3.1 (std.dev. ± 0.11) and 122 in the second round, and improved to 3.75 (std.dev. ± 0.40) and 154 in the third round. The Cronbach's alpha (Cα) correlation coefficient was 0.741 (acceptable) in the second round and improved to 0.789 in the third round. The final report was built in the management of radiology report template (MRRT) and includes n = 4 items in the procedure information, n = 5 items in the clinical information, n = 16 in the findings, and n = 3 in the impression, with overall 28 items.
The proposed structured report could be of help both for expert radiologists and for the less experienced who are faced with the management of these patients. The structured report is conceived as a guideline, to recommend the key items/findings of chest CT in COVID-19 pneumonia.

Appendectomy for acute appendicitis (AA) is considered one of the most common emergency surgeries. However, emergency appendectomy accompanied with complex lesions such as extensive abscess formation is not recommended in most cases. Therefore, non-operative management followed by interval appendectomy (IA) for AA has been tried. Herein, we present three AA cases with specific etiology that underwent interval appendectomy.
Case 1 A 68-year-old man was diagnosed AA with intestinal malrotation and intra-abdominal abscesses. He initially treated with conservative therapy and underwent laparoscopic IA after detailed preoperative examination. Case 2 A 22-year-old man had been under treatment for pancolitis-type ulcerative colitis (UC), also bothered by right-lower abdominal pain several times a year. The appendix always appeared swollen on every CT taken during symptoms. He underwent laparoscopic IA; pathological finding revealed typical UC histological features in the resected appendix. After the surgery, he al operative complications, and also induced fast recovery and short length of hospital stay. Interval appendectomy is a reasonable procedure and could be recommended in case of AA with some different etiology.The stiffness of the cellular environment controls malignant cell phenotype and proliferation. However, the effect of viscous dissipation on these parameters has not yet been investigated, in part due to the lack of in vitro cell substrates reproducing the mechanical properties of normal tissues and tumors. In this article, we use a newly reported viscoelastic polyacrylamide gel cell substrate, and we characterize the impact of viscous dissipation on three malignant cell lines DU145 and PC3 derived from prostate and LN229 from brain. The spreading, motility and proliferation rates of these cells were analyzed on 1 kPa and 5 kPa elastic and viscoelastic gels. Surprisingly, the effect of substrate viscous dissipation on cell behavior depended on substrate stiffness for the three cell types tested. We conclude that viscoelasticity controls the spreading, proliferation and migration of malignant cells in vitro. Data were analyzed within an electrical neuroimaging framework, involving unsupervised topographic clustering of the ERP data. Multisensory processing in full-term infants was characterized by a simple linear summation of responses to auditory and somatosensory stimuli alone, which furthermore shared common ERP topographic features. We refer to the ERP topography observed in full-term infants as "typical infantile processing" (TIP).
