We examined the adaptive responses of the resilient wheat cultivar 'Unnat Halna' and dissected the HTS-responsive proteome landscape. This led to the identification of 55 HTS-responsive proteins (HRPs), which are predominantly involved in metabolism and defense pathways. Interestingly, HRPs included a 2-cysteine peroxiredoxin (2CP), designated Ta2CP, presumably involved in stress perception and adaptation. Complementation of Ta2CP in yeast and heterologous expression in Arabidopsis demonstrated its role in thermotolerance. Both Ta2CP silencing and overexpression inferred the involvement of Ta2CP in plant growth and chlorophyll biosynthesis. We demonstrated that Ta2CP interacts with protochlorophyllide reductase b, TaPORB. selleckchem Reduced TaPORB expression was found in Ta2cp-silenced plants, while upregulation was observed in Ta2CP-overexpressed plants. The purpose of the study was to assess participants' and presenters' perceptions of a live web-based lecture series in comparison to traditional in-person lectures.

A virtual lecture series was organized by the---from March 25th until June 3rd of 2020. Twenty-five postgraduate prosthodontics programs and 81 presenters participated. Two surveys were developed and distributed to the audience (N = 330) and the presenters (N = 81). Follow-up emails were sent one week, three weeks, and four weeks after the initial email survey to encourage its completion. The data were analyzed descriptively. One-way ANOVA (p = 0.05), followed by a post hoc test, were used to compare the response percentages among the different generations of presenters and participants.

Fifty-two percent of participants, and 65% of presenters, completed the survey. More than 96% of participants and presenters were satisfied with the lecture series. Seventy-nine percent of audience members felt that the live web-based lectures were as effective as traditional classroom lectures, or more effective; 32% of presenters agreed. Millennial audience members had significantly (p = 0.0028) more negative responses than the other generations.

To develop a computer-driven and thus less user-dependent method, allowing for a simple and straightforward generation of a Monte Carlo (MC) beam model of a scanned proton and carbon ion beam delivery system.

In a first step, experimental measurements were performed for proton and carbon ion energies in the available energy ranges. Data included depth dose profiles measured in water and spot sizes in air at various isocenter distances. Using an automated regularization-based optimization process (AUTO-BEAM), GATE/Geant4 beam models of the respective beam lines were generated. These were obtained sequentially by using least square weighting functions with and without regularization, to iteratively tune the beam parameters energy, energy spread, beam sigma, divergence, and emittance until a user-defined agreement was reached. Based on the parameter tuning for a set of energies, a beam model was semi-automatically generated. The resulting beam models were validated for all centers comparing to independent mes possible within three working days. The number of iterations required for the optimization process to converge, was found to be similar for all beam line geometries and particle types.

The presented method was demonstrated to work independently of the beam optics behavior of the different beam lines, particle types, and geometries. Furthermore, it is suitable for non-expert users and requires only limited user interaction. Beam model validation for different beam lines based on different beam delivery systems, showed good agreement.

Herein, we report on the well-controlled shape evolution of pure-MOF microcrystals with optical waveguide and lasing performances based on a bottom-up and top-down synergistic method. The MOF microcrystals from solvothermal synthesis (bottom-up) enable the evolution from microrods via microtubes to nanowires through a chelating agent-assisted etching process (top-down). The three types of MOF 1D-microstructures with high crystallinity and smooth surfaces all exhibit efficient optical waveguide performance. Furthermore, MOF nanowire with lowest propagation loss served as low-threshold pure-MOF nanolasers with Fabry-Pérot resonance. These results advance the fundamental understanding on the controlled MOF evolution mechanism, and offer a valuable route for the development of pure-MOF-based photonic components with desired functionalities.
