Contractures frequently occur in the finger joints after immobilization. This report describes the effect of acupotomy treatment in patients with joint contracture due to immobilization of the finger joints.

Case 1 was of a 39-year-old male patient who had flexion limitation of the left thumb and difficulty in grasping. Case 2 was of a 41-year-old female patient who had flexion limitation of the right index finger and difficulty in typing. Stiffness occurred after tendon repair surgery and cast immobilization in both cases. In Case 1, the patient had limited flexion movement of the first metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints after 5 weeks of immobilization of the left thumb in a cast. In Case 2, the patient had limited flexion movement after 3 weeks of immobilization of the second proximal interphalangeal joint of the left hand in a cast.

We diagnosed both patients with finger joint contracture due to immobilization. Conservative treatment for approximately 4 weeks did not lead to improvement in either patient. Implantable collamer lens have been used widely worldwide, and have been accepted by more and more doctors and patients due to good safety, stability, and effectiveness. However, there is still a problem of crystal rotation. The large angle rotation (over 10°) would weaken the original astigmatism correction effect and even induce irregular astigmatism, seriously affecting the visual quality of patients. Herein, we reported a case who had 2 times of crystal rotations after toric implantable collamer lens (TICL) implantation.

The patient was a 38-year-old man who underwent TICL implantation for the correction of high myopic astigmatism in eyes. He presented a sudden decrease in the visual acuity (VA) of the left eye 4 months after the TICL implantation. The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) was 8/20 (refraction, +2.25 -5.25 × 68).

Rotation of TICL was diagnosed. The toric marks with a rotation of 75° counter-clockwise from the original position were observed.

The TICL was re-set to the original positionment of TICL are safe and efficient ways to recover VA due to TICL rotation.
Canaliculops is a rare condition, and only 11 cases have been reported previously. We report 2 cases of canaliculops, which were successfully treated using the new recanalization technique under dacryoendoscopy followed by bicanalicular lacrimal intubation.

A 78-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman had 3- and 1-year histories of medial-upper eyelid swelling (left and right, respectively) without any inflammatory signs, history of periocular trauma, herpes infection, use of specific drugs, or ophthalmic diseases of note.

The cystic lesions were evaluated using ultrasound biometry or computed tomography to find the lumen of the horizontal canaliculus was exceedingly expanded, and to confirm the clinical diagnosis of canaliculops.

As the 2 cases of canaliculops were caused by upper puncta and common canaliculus obstructions, canaliculops of the upper eyelid were recanalized under dacryoendoscopic guidance, followed by bicanalicular intubation. The tubes were kept in situ involving bi-weekly irrigation and instillation of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops, and were removed after 2 to 3 months of follow-up.

Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rapidly progressing bacterial soft tissue infection with a high mortality rate. It is characterized by significant soft tissue destruction with associated sepsis. The mainstay of treatment is coverage with appropriate broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy and emergent surgical debridement.

A previously healthy 66-year-old female presented with a deep laceration to her right, posterior calf with subsequent contamination with lake water. After the wound was irrigated and closed, the patient developed NF.

Laceration of the right lower extremity complicated by NF secondary to Aeromonas sobria.

The patient underwent emergent surgical debridements with intravenous broad-spectrum antibiotics and negative pressure wound therapy. The lower extremity was reconstructed with split-thickness skin grafts.

The patient's initial penetrating trauma was closed in the emergency room, and the patient was discharged home with antibiotics. She returned the next day with unstable vitals and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
