Impact regarding caries as well as molar incisor hypomineralization in oral health-related standard of living in children.
Disruption in the normal anatomy and physiology of the skin often leads to wound formation. Its healing is a pretty complex and dynamic biological process with different phases. While there are many biopolymers (and their derivatives) for wound healing purposes. One of the most popular, promising, progressive and attention-grabbing biopolymers is 'chitosan'. It is a polysaccharide biopolymer that has tremendous potential in augmenting the process of wound healing. Most importantly, the derivatives of chitosan have heavily attracted the scientific community's attention to employing them in various formulations for wound healing applications. The prime focus of the present review is to provide scientific and technological prospection about chitosan and its derivatives for wound healing activity, starting from 2010 to 2020. Besides, the review also focuses about toxicity, different formulations and products of chitosan that are currently under clinical trials for wound healing purposes are described. Through this review, we present evidence that abundantly confirms that there is a growing interest in the domain of wound healing using novel, inventive, useful and patent protected chitosan derivatives. We speculate the possibility of more patent protected chitosan derivatives in the future for wound healing applications.Papain is a cysteine endopeptidase of vegetal origin (papaya (Carica papaya L.) with diverse applications in food technology. In this review we have focused our attention on its application in the production of bio-peptides by hydrolysis of proteins from fish residues. This way, a residual material, that can become a contaminant if dumped without control, is converted into highly interesting products. The main bioactivity of the produced peptides is their antioxidant activity, followed by their nutritional and functional activities, but peptides with many other bioactivities have been produced. Thera are also examples of production of hydrolysates with several bioactivities. The enzyme may be used alone, or in combination with other enzymes to increase the degree of hydrolysis.Various concentrations of Mg into fixed amount of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC)-doped ZnO were synthesized using facile chemical precipitation. The aim of present study is to remove dye degradation of methylene blue (MB) and bactericidal behavior with synthesized product. Phase constitution, functional group analysis, optical behavior, elemental composition, morphology and microstructure were examined using XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, EDS and HR-TEM. Highly efficient photocatalytic performance was observed in basic medium (98%) relative to neutral (65%), and acidic (83%) was observed upon Mg and CNC co-doping. Significant bactericidal activity of doped ZnO nanoparticles depicted inhibition zones for G -ve and +ve bacteria ranging (2.20 - 4.25 mm) and (5.80-7.25 mm) for E. coli and (1.05 - 2.75 mm) and (2.80 - 4.75 mm) for S. aureus at low and high doses, respectively. Overall, doped nanostructures showed significant (P less then 0.05) bactericidal efficacy against G +ve relative to G -ve. Furthermore, the molecular docking studies were employed to rationalize possible mechanism behind these in vitro bactericidal activities. In silico findings suggested CNC doped ZnO nanocomposites as possible inhibitors of β-lactamase (Binding score -7.936 kcal/mol), DHFR (Binding score -5.691 kcal/mol) and FabI (Binding score -8.673 kcal/mol).
Despite the promising effects of herbal preparations in lowering blood pressure (BP), hypertension remains a major clinical challenge in Nigeria. The BP-lowering effects of medicinal plants are due to the presence of bioactive compounds.

This meta-analysis presents a precise estimate of the therapeutic benefits of medicinal plants utilized in Nigeria for the management of hypertension in animals and humans.

A systematic literature search was performed through Cochrane, PubMed, Science Direct and Scopus databases from inception until February 28, 2021 using search terms related to randomized controlled trials of Nigerian medicinal plants for hypertension. Selleck Entinostat Additional studies were identified through manual search. BP was the main outcome that was measured after the intervention. Meta-analysis was performed using the Review Manager and Meta-Essential.

Nineteen trials comprising of 16 preclinical and 3 clinical studies were enrolled for the meta-analysis. A total number of 16 plants was identified of whichns for the treatment of hypertension. A well-conducted trial with methodological rigour and a longer duration of follow-up is required for their effective clinical utilization.

Astragalus is a medicinal herb used in China for the prevention and treatment of diseases such as diabetes and cancer. As one of the main active ingredients of astragalus, Astragaloside IV (AS-IV) has a wide range of pharmacological effects, including anti-inflammation and anti-cancer effects.

Different phosphorylated forms of Smad3 differentially regulate the progression of hepatic carcinoma. The phosphorylation of the COOH-terminal of Smad3 (pSmad3C) and activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway inhibits hepatic carcinoma, while phosphorylation of the linker region of Smad3 (pSmad3L) promotes progression. Thus, pSmad3C/3L and Nrf2/HO-1 pathways are potential targets for drug of anti-cancer development. AS-IV is anti-apoptotic and can inhibit hepatocellular carcinoma cell (HCC) proliferation, invasion, and tumor growth in nude mice. However, it is not clear whether AS-IV has a therapeutic effect on inhibiting the progression of primary liver cancer by regulating the pSmad3C/3L and Nrf2/HO-1 pathway. The purpos, in vitro analysis further confirmed that AS-IV regulated the expression of pSmad3C/3L and Nrf2/HO-1 pathway in HSC-T6 and HepG2 cells activated by TGF-β
.

AS-IV administration delays the occurrence of primary liver cancer by continually suppressing the development of fibrosis, the mechanism of the therapeutic effect involving the regulation of the pSmad3C/3L and Nrf2/HO-1 pathways, especially in regulation reversibility and antagonism of pSmad3C and pSmad3L and promoting the phosphorylation of Nrf2.
