Polycomb condensates can easily promote epigenetic marks but aren't needed for suffered chromatin compaction.
This is the first evidence that TP63 missense variants can cause isolated POI and provides mechanistic insight that TP63 variants cause POI due to constitutive p63 activation and accelerated oocyte loss in the absence of DNA damage.Chemotherapy assisted by carbon monoxide (CO) gas therapy is an emerging powerful cancer therapeutic modality. However, the effective delivery and controlled release of CO in tumor cells remain a challenge. Herein, a cell membrane bionic nano delivery system (RBC-H@DOX/3-HF@MSN, termed as RHM) was designed to selectively accumulate in tumors and generate CO in situ upon red light irradiation for the combination of chemotherapy and gas therapy. CO significantly improves the therapeutic effect of DOX from 29.0% to 82.4%.The electrochemical ammonia synthesis is an environmentally friendly method for ammonia production; however, it is still impeded by the bottleneck of N2 activation and challenging hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). A rational design for developing efficient electrocatalysts by tuning the surface electronic state is regarded as a promising strategy to overcome these obstacles. Herein, we report a phosphorus-doped potassium peroxyniobate (KNb3O8, denoted as P-KNO) electrocatalyst with enriched oxygen vacancies to effectively improve N2-to-NH3 efficiency and suppress HER. Such P-KNO electrocatalyst achieves a rate of 23.01 μg h-1 mgcat-1 for NH3 production at -0.45 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) and a faradaic efficiency (FE) of 39.77% at -0.4 VRHE in a 0.1 M Na2SO4 electrolyte, which is about twice that of the non-modified KNb3O8 (denoted as KNO, 11.35 μg h-1 mgcat-1, 19.60%) counterpart under the same condition. Moreover, the resultant P-KNO electrocatalyst renders steady NH3 yield amounts and selectivity in cycling tests for 10 h. It is concluded that the enhanced N2 fixation activity and faradaic efficiency are ascribed to the phosphorus doping and formation of oxygen vacancies, which not only make the surface of the electrocatalyst highly hydrophobic but also adjust the surface electronic structure of potassium niobate, thus resulting in accelerated N2 adsorption and activation during the NRR process. This electrocatalyst with phosphorus-doping and oxygen vacancies gives deep insights into the rational regulation of the surface electronic state of NRR electrocatalysts for efficient NH3 synthesis.Ischemic stroke often causes devastating damage to human life and health. Excess production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during thrombolysis will paradoxically result in neuronal injury. Neuroprotection from reperfusion injury must overcome the challenge of crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB). A strategy including thrombolysis and ROS scavenging accompanied by BBB penetration is highly desirable for improving combination therapies in ischemic stroke. Herein, urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) loaded on black phosphorus nanosheets (BPNs) is tested as a nanodrug for sequential thrombolysis and neuroprotection. The in vitro thrombolysis shows that the uPA-loaded BPNs can efficiently deliver uPA for thrombus dissolution. The residual BPNs after uPA release exhibit ROS scavenging effects, especially for the most common H2O2 and ˙OH species. Moreover, in vivo studies show that the BPNs can cross the BBB with the assistance of laser irradiation, owing to their good photothermal properties. Further experiments show the effectiveness of BPNs for attenuating reperfusion injury and achieving neuroprotection. These results highlight the promising potential of the present BPN-based nanodrugs for the treatment of ROS-related diseases.Improving the mechanical properties and stability of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is of significant interest due to their practical applications. Herein, we tune the mechanical properties of MOFs by filling the MOF pores with polymer chains. The mechanical properties reflect the filling rate, molecular weight, and inherent flexibility of the polymeric guests, imparting MOFs with improved resilience and toughness against mechanical pressures. The Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Ruth Mason Dinosaur Quarry (RMDQ) represents a monodominant Edmontosaurus annectens bonebed from the Hell Creek Formation of South Dakota and has been determined as a catastrophic death assemblage likely belonging to a single population, providing an ideal sample to investigate hadrosaurid growth and population dynamics. For this study, size-frequency distributions were constructed from linear measurements of long bones (humeri, femora, tibiae) from RMDQ that revealed five relatively distinct size classes along a generally right-skewed distribution, which is consistent with a catastrophic assemblage. To test the relationship between morphological size ranges and ontogenetic age classes, subsets from each size-frequency peak were transversely thin-sectioned at mid-diaphysis to conduct an ontogenetic age assessment based on growth marks and observations of the bone microstructure. When combining these independent datasets, growth marks aligned with size-frequency peaks, with cal growth patterns with the strength of environmental stressors were a result of sampling non-overlapping ontogenetic growth stages.Diels-Alder photocycloaddition, a well-known textbook reaction, has not been explored in materials chemistry. Herein we describe how this classical photochemistry can be used to modulate the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of a molecular π-system, which can further be exploited for the controlled transmission of solar radiation for the management of indoor heat and light. An amphiphilic anthracene derivative 9-PA-1 exhibited LCST behavior at 27-32 °C with a reversible transition from a transparent to an opaque phase in water (1-5 mM). Tozasertib Irradiation of a toluene solution of 9-PA-1 with 365 nm light resulted in a [4+2] photocycloadduct 9-PA-2, which exhibited a modulated LCST behavior at 25-27 °C, at a concentration as low as 6 μM. The photocycloaddition of 9-PA-1 was significantly retarded in water, making it a stable candidate for the design of sustainable smart windows. We also demonstrated 100 cm2 smart window prototypes (ΔTlum 82 %, ΔTIR 68 %, ΔTsol 73 %) with more than 1000 cycles of stable operation.Three equilibria involved in metallocene catalyst activation, including dissociation of R6Al2 (R = Me, Et or i-Bu) and related species such as [L2ZrMe2AlMe2][B(C6F5)4] (L2 = Cp2, 1,2-ethylenebis(η5-indenyl), Me2C(η5-C5H4)2) or [(L2ZrMe)2μ-Me][MePBB] (L2 = (h5-1,2-Me2C5H3)2, [MePBB]- = [MeB(ArF)3]- with ArF = o-C6F5-C6F4) are studied by DFT using various approaches to account for the enthalpy and entropy changes in gas and condensed phases. These studies reveal that both low energy vibrations and translational entropy conspire to cause significant deviations between theory and experiment when it comes to the free energy change in condensed or even gas phase. Alignment of theory with experiment requires in addition, consideration of specific solvation of reactants and products.BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic expanded the need for timely information on acute respiratory illness at population level.AimWe explored the potential of routine emergency department data for syndromic surveillance of acute respiratory illness in Germany.MethodsWe used routine attendance data from emergency departments, which continuously transferred data between week 10 2017 and 10 2021, with ICD-10 codes available for > 75% of attendances. Case definitions for acute respiratory infection (ARI), severe acute respiratory infection (SARI), influenza-like illness (ILI), respiratory syncytial virus infection (RSV) and COVID-19 were based on a combination of ICD-10 codes, and/or chief complaints, sometimes combined with information on hospitalisation and age.ResultsWe included 1,372,958 attendances from eight emergency departments. The number of attendances dropped in March 2020 during the first COVID-19 pandemic wave, increased during summer, and declined again during the resurge of COVID-19 cases in autumn and winter of 2020/21. A pattern of seasonality of respiratory infections could be observed. By using different case definitions (i.e. for ARI, SARI, ILI, RSV) both the annual influenza seasons in the years 2017-2020 and the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020/21 were apparent. The absence of the 2020/21 influenza season was visible, parallel to the resurge of COVID-19 cases. SARI among ARI cases peaked in April-May 2020 (17%) and November 2020-January 2021 (14%).ConclusionSyndromic surveillance using routine emergency department data can potentially be used to monitor the trends, timing, duration, magnitude and severity of illness caused by respiratory viruses, including both influenza viruses and SARS-CoV-2.Up to 22 June 2022, 508 confirmed cases of monkeypox (MPX) have been reported in the Madrid region of Spain, 99% are men (n = 503) with a median age of 35 years (range 18-67). In this ongoing outbreak, 427 cases (84.1%) reported condomless sex or sex with multiple partners within the 21 days before onset of symptoms, who were predominantly men who have sex with men (MSM) (n = 397; 93%). Both the location of the rash, mainly in the anogenital and perineal area, as well as the presence of inguinal lymphadenopathy suggest that close physical contact during sexual activity played a key role in transmission. Several cases reported being at a sauna in the city of Madrid (n = 34) or a mass event held on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria (n = 27), activities which may represent a conducive environment for MPX virus spread, with many private parties also playing an important role. Because of the rapid implementation of MPX surveillance in Madrid, one of the largest outbreaks reported outside Africa was identified. To minimise transmission, we continue to actively work with LGBTIQ+ groups and associations, with the aim of raising awareness among people at risk and encouraging them to adopt preventive measures.By 22 June 2022, 521 cases of monkeypox were notified in Germany. The median age was 38 years (IQR 32-44); all cases were men. In Berlin, where 69% of all cases occurred, almost all were men who have sex with men. Monkeypox virus likely circulated unrecognised in Berlin before early May. Since mid-May, we observed a shift from travel-associated infections to mainly autochthonous transmission that predominantly took place in Berlin, often in association with visits to clubs and parties.
The aim of this review was to synthesize best available evidence on mentoring programmes for midwives who have worked within the clinical setting for more than 1 year.

Lack of job satisfaction, stress, burnout and limited managerial support contributes to midwifery workforce attrition and the ongoing global shortage of midwives. Mentoring may be one way to improve staff retention, leading to positive clinical and organizational outcomes.

A five-step integrative review approach, based on a series of articles published by the Joanna Briggs Institute for conducting systematic reviews, was used to develop a search strategy, selection criteria, method for quality appraisal and the extraction and synthesis of data.

Relevant articles were sought from the following databases Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, MEDLINE, PubMed, MIDIRS and Scopus. The search and screening process was guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analysis 2009 checklist. Narrative analysis was used to develop four main categories derived from the results from the included studies.
