Compare the efficacy of full-endoscopic lumbar decompression surgery (FELDS) and open decompression and fusion surgery (ODFS) for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).
A retrospective analysis of 358 LSS patients treated by FELDS ("FELD" group) or ODFS ("open" group) was undertaken. There were 177 patients in the FELDS group with a mean age of 65.47±9.26 years and 181 patients in the open group with a mean age of 64.18±10.24 years. Duration of follow-up was 38.63±11.88 months in the FELDS group and 38.56±12.29 months in the open group. Visual analog scale (VAS) score, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Modified MacNab criteria were used to access clinical outcomes. Surgical outcomes (duration of surgical procedure, blood loss, complications, duration of postoperative hospital stay (DOPHS), prevalence of revision procedures) were evaluated. Magnetic resonance imaging was used to evaluate the change in the Pfirrmann grade at adjacent segments.
VAS score (leg and back) and ODI improved significantly in both grouuma, rapid recovery, and lower risk of degeneration of adjacent segments compared with that of ODFS.
Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) is a common ultrasound finding during pregnancy. However, the correlation between fetal EIF and cardiac abnormality remains in dispute until now. The study aimed to examine the association of fetal EIF with chromosomal abnormality by means of chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA).
A total of 192 pregnant women with fetal EIF undergoing amniocentesis or umbilical cord blood puncture were recruited and assigned into groups A (8 cases with isolated EIF alone), B (75 cases with EIF and other cardiac malformations) and C (109 cases with EIF and extracardiac malformations). All fetuses underwent karyotyping analysis and CMA simultaneously. The detection of chromosomal abnormality and copy number variations (CNVs) were compared.
Chromosomal karyotyping identified 5 fetuses with chromosomal abnormality, including 3 cases with trisomy 21, one fetus with Turner's syndrome, and one fetus with chromosome 8 mosaicism, while CMA detected 6 additional fetuses with CNVs, including 2 fetuses with pathogenic CNVs and 4 fetuses with variants of uncertain significance (VOUS). There was no significant difference among groups A (0), B (5.33%) and C (6.42%) in terms of the prevalence of chromosomal abnormality (
> 0.05). Among the 4 fetuses with VOUS, pregnancy continued in 2 fetuses, and pregnancy was terminated in other 2 fetuses.
An isolated EIF may not correlate with chromosomal abnormality. However, CMA is recommended in fetuses with CMA complicated by other abnormal cardiac ultrasound findings, which facilitates the prediction of fetal outcomes during the genetic counseling and precision assessment of prognosis.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is linked to various cancers in males and females. The prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV vary depending on geographical region and the immunity provided by vaccines. Investigation of HPV epidemiology is of great meaning for the development of prevention programs.
From January 2017 to September 2019, using PCR-reverse dot blot hybridisation, we determined the HPV subtypes in 2801 patients 17-89 years old at the sexually transmitted diseases (STD) clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital.
The HPV infection rate was 50.79% in males and 50.64% in females. The most common HPV genotype in males and females was HPV6 (30.15% and 30.43%), followed by HPV16 (18.76% and 20.65%) and HPV11 (14.61% and 15.67%). Infection with a single HPV subtype predominated in both males and females, and the rate in males was higher than in females. By contrast, the rate of high-risk HPV (hrHPV) and low-risk HPV (lrHPV) mixed infection in females was higher than in males. Most HPV-positive patients were 20-39 years of age. The prevalence of infection with only hrHPV differed among the age groups; the peak age was 50 to 59 years.
The HPV prevalence was higher among the STD clinic outpatients than the general population. Therefore, a large-scale survey of high-risk populations is needed. find more It is anticipated that HPV vaccines, regular education and physical examinations may have a significant impact on the prevention of HPV-related diseases in high-risk groups.

This study aimed to directly and accurately measure the range of motion of the acromioclavicular joint through 3D reconstruction and image registration.
Thirteen healthy volunteers participated in the study. Computerized tomography (CT) was used to measure the acromioclavicular joint in four different motion poses. The images were integrated using reconstruction and registration technology, and the rotation angle range of the acromioclavicular joint was measured using 3D reconstruction. The measurements were expressed by axial angle representation. The dominant and the non-dominant sides were compared, and the difference in the axial angle of the acromioclavicular joint was compared in different postures.
The difference between the dominant and non-dominant sides in acromioclavicular motion was not significant. In the sagittal motion of the upper limb, the rotation angle of the acromioclavicular joint was greatest in a resting horizontal position, with an average of 26.1°. In this position, 34.6% of flemioclavicular joint. The rotational motions of the acromioclavicular joint are bilaterally symmetrical and can be used as a reference for comparative study. The maximum range of motion of the acromioclavicular joint during rotation was found in the resting horizontal position. The clinical examination and post-treatment evaluation of the acromioclavicular joint's rotation function can therefore be targeted in this range.
Cumulative evidence has demonstrated that breast cancer was the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Despite growing evidence for a link between serotonin and tumorigenesis, research on the expression of serotoninergic systems in the human breast cancer cell and tissue has only rarely been reported.
First, immunofluorescence staining, ELISA and Western blotting were used to detect serotonin and melatoninergic systems in various breast cancer cell types. Then, serotonin expression was evaluated in the cultures of TPBC cell line BT-474 and TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231 using immunofluorescence assay. To further explore the diagnostic role of serotonin in breast cancer, serotonin expression was conducted in the TPBC and TNBC tumor sections by immunostaining analysis.
Our results suggested that both human breast cancer cells and human breast epithelial cell line could synthesize serotonin and melatonin. Unlike melatonin, serotonin levels varied significantly between human breast cancer and breast epithelialatonin, and serotonin expression was higher in the breast cancer tissue compared with PCT. The findings suggested that serotonin might be used as a predictive marker for breast cancer patients.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune inflammatory disease that primarily affects joints. Interleukin-37 (IL-37) is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that is known to suppress immune response and inflammation. The objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between level of IL-37 and RA progression using the disease activity score in 28 joints (DAS-28).
A total of 87 RA patients were separated into 4 groups based on the DAS28, referred to as the remission, mild, moderate and severe groups. 18 healthy volunteers were also included. Serum level of IL-37 and IL-37 mRNA expression level in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in each individual participant as well as IL-37 mRNA expression level in synovial cells were assessed to explore their correlation with RA progression.
Serum level of IL-37 and IL-37 mRNA expression levels in both PBMCs and synovial cells were all positively correlated with the severity of RA as reflected by the DAS28. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis revealed area under curve (AUC) values of 1, 0.5262 and 0.7789 for the three parameters.
Our results suggest that serum IL-37 level and mRNA expression levels of IL-37 in PBMCs and synovial cells are correlated with the severity of RA in a Chinese population.

Effective antiarrhythmic treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) constitutes a major challenge, in particular, when concomitant heart failure (HF) is present. HF-associated atrial arrhythmogenesis is distinctly characterized by prolonged atrial refractoriness. Small-conductance, calcium-activated K
(K
, SK,
) channels contribute to cardiac action potential repolarization and are implicated in AF susceptibility and therapy. The mechanistic impact of AF/HF-related triggers on atrial K
channels is not known. We hypothesized that tachycardia, stretch, β-adrenergic stimulation, and hypoxia differentially determine K
2.1-2.3 channel remodeling in atrial cells.
transcript levels were assessed in AF/HF patients and in a pig model of atrial tachypacing-induced AF with reduced left ventricular function. HL-1 atrial myocytes were subjected to proarrhythmic triggers to investigate the effects on

Stressor-dependent KCa2 regulation in atrial myocytes provides a starting point for mechanism-based antiarrhythmic therapy.
Most Toll-like receptors and IL-1/IL-18 receptors activate a signaling cascade via the adaptor molecule MyD88, resulting in NF-κB activation and inflammatory cytokine and chemokine production. Females are less susceptible than males to inflammatory conditions, presumably due to protection by estrogen. The exact mechanism underlying this protection is unknown.
MCF7 cells expressing wild-type or mutated LXXLL motif were used to determine MyD88/estrogen receptor (ER)-a interaction by immunoprecipitation and cell activation by ELISA and luciferase reporter assay. IL-1b and/or E2 were used to activate MCF7 cells expressing normal or knocked down levels of PRMT1. Finally, in situ proximity ligation assay with anti-MyD88 and anti-methylated ER-a (methER-a) antibodies was used to evaluate MyD88/methylated ER-a interaction in THP1 cells and histological sections.
We show that MyD88 interacts with a methylated, cytoplasmic form of estrogen receptor-alpha (methER-α). This interaction is required for NF-κB transcriptional activity and pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and is dissociated by estrogen.
