To date in Italy we do not have sufficient information on the rehabilitation process of older patients with hip fractures especially in the context of dementia. C16 The main aims of the study were to gather information on the characteristics of older patients with hip fracture admitted to rehabilitation units with a specific focus on geriatric syndromes and the rehabilitation process.

A national multi-center "point prevalence study" was conducted in Italy over two index days in 2017 and 2018. All patients aged 70years and older hospitalized on the index day in Rehabilitation Units after a hip fracture were eligible.

A total of 615 patients were included. Most of the hospitals involved were from northern Italy, to a lesser extent from central and from southern Italy. The mean age was 83.08 ± 7.9years. Almost half of the patients lived alone before the hip fracture. Most of the falls happened at home and while walking. The prevalence of delirium, dementia and malnutrition was 9.1%, 36.6%, and 19.3%, respectively. Antidepressants were prescribed in 27% of the population. The multidisciplinary team was activated as follows occupational therapist in 18.9% of the cases, psychologists in 14.5%, social workers in 15.3%, and speech therapists in 6.5%.

The study allowed the collection of data on a relatively large sample of older patients with hip fracture showing the possible current limitations in the correct management of geriatric syndromes in this frail population. Future multicenter longitudinal studies are required to further study this population.

These exposures may induce toxiogenetic damage and carcinogenesis in aquatic organism. DNA damage biomarkers for fish species detect genotoxic parameters for ecological risk assessment. In the present study, the effect of heavy metals (Cr, Cd, Cu, Fe and Mn) on DNA damage and oxidative stress of Clarias gariepinus was examined by Comet assay at Reference site and two different sampling sites of the Orontes River. Moreover, the relationship between DNA damage and physiological response to oxidative stress caused in C. gariepinus was investigated by sampling seasonal water and fish samples for one year. In this study, Cr, Cd and Cu in water column of Orontes River and the concentrations of Fe and Mn in liver tissue of C. gariepinus were highly exceed the maximum permissible limit set by EPA (1999, 2016) WHO (1989) and TEG (2012) that can cause adverse effects on environment health. SOD activvels in African catfish. Consequently, this study exposed genotoxic damage and oxidative stress of C. gariepinus due to metal pollution in Orontes River and lead to the better understanding of genotoxicty, oxidative stress and heavy metal relationships.
The clinical presentation of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) may overlap with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). The Magnetic Resonance Parkinsonism Index (MRPI), MRPI 2.0, and the interpeduncular angle (IPA) have been investigated to differentiate PSP from healthy controls (HC) and other parkinsonisms. We aimed to assess equivalences and differences in MRPI, MRPI 2.0, and IPA in iNPH, PSP, and HC groups.

We retrospectively recruited 99 subjects (30 iNPH, 32 PSP, 37 HC) from two institutions. MRI exams, acquired on either 1.5T or 3T scanners, included 3D T1-weighted images to measure MRPI, MRPI 2.0, and IPA. Inter- and intra-rater reliability was investigated with the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), and the two one-sided t tests (TOST) procedure was used to assess these markers in iNPH, PSP, and HC.

For all the three measures, intra-rater and inter-rater ICC were excellent (range = 0.91-0.93). In the comparison of iNPH and PSP with HC, differences for MRPI and MRPI 2.0 (p < 0.01 in all cases) and no equivalence (p = 1.00 in all cases) were found at TOST. iNPH and PSP MRPI showed no difference (p = 0.06) and no equivalence (p = 0.08). MRPI 2.0 was not equivalent (p = 0.06) and not different (p = 0.09) in the same two populations. PSP and HC IPA proved equivalent (p < 0.01) while iNPH IPA was different (p < 0.01) and not equivalent (p = 0.96 and 0.82) from both PSP and HC.

MRPI and MRPI 2.0 significantly overlap in iNPH and PSP, with risk of misdiagnosis, and for this reason may not be helpful in the differential diagnosis.

The mortality of patients with the disease escalates, particularly at the moment when the treatment possibilities of intensive medical care end. In the routine intensive medical care practice, the challenges due to the special features of infections with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its treatment become obvious. These occur in the development and treatment of respiratory and multiorgan failure as well as the severe inflammatory syndrome. For these severe courses there is still only little evidence available as to which interventions are the most effective. In addition to the knowledge that can be gained from the rapid performance of clinical trials, the treatment is therefore based on analogies to other syndromes, such as sepsis and macrophage activation syndrome. This systematic review collated evidence on the burden of XLH in adults. Data captured highlight the substantial ongoing burden of XLH in adulthood and identified unmet needs. Greater awareness and understanding of the impact of XLH in adulthood are needed to improve care and outcomes in adults with XLH.
X-linked hypophosphataemia (XLH) is a rare metabolic bone disease characterized by renal phosphate wasting and musculoskeletal manifestations. Whilst the disease's impact in children is well documented, information on the effects of this progressive, debilitating condition on adults is lacking. This systematic review aimed to collate existing evidence on the burden of XLH in adulthood to identify unmet needs.

MEDLINE, Embase and Cochrane Library databases and recent congress reports were searched on 19 February 2019 for English-language publications describing the medical, humanistic and socio-economic impact of XLH in adults (≥ 18years old). In addition, a structured Internet search was conducted.

Of the 2351 articles identified, 91 met the selection criteria along with 44 congress abstracts.
