Multiple sclerosis is a common disease in women of childbearing age, characterized by demyelination of the central nervous system. Among the different treatment options available, disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) are the most efficacious, and natalizumab (NAT) is an injectable DMT best for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. However, it comes under pregnancy category C drug classification. This systematic review aims to analyze the adverse outcomes of using NAT during pregnancy. PubMed/Medline, PubMed Central (PMC), ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar were the databases used to search for articles. Appropriate keywords and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) strategy were used to identify relevant articles. Articles were then screened using inclusion/exclusion criteria followed by the title and abstract screening. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) quality appraisal tools were used for quality check, and nine articles were finalized for review. NAT suspension during pregnancy is shown to have a high risk of disease relapse. Despite the risk of mild hematological abnormalities in the newborn and the risk of spontaneous abortions at the same rate as that of the general population, NAT use can be considered safe in pregnancy. These adverse outcomes can be minimized by strict monitoring of patients. We present a case of a 38-year-old female with a past history of multiple blood transfusions, who presented with features suggestive of sepsis with multiple organ dysfunction and obstructive jaundice. The patient showed minimal response to empirical antibiotics. However, no source of infection or features of biliary obstruction was found. The possibility of a hematological disorder was suspected in the background of multiple blood transfusions, and she was eventually diagnosed to have acute chest syndrome. Methods We conducted a retrospective study of essential parameters, namely, D-dimer, creatinint deviations in non-surviving cases and could help predict mortalities. We report an unusual case of a parasitic leiomyoma in a 33-year-old nulliparous woman with remote pelvic history who presented to our institution with sudden-onset lower abdominal pain. We performed an exploratory laparotomy, which revealed a 6.3x4.6 cm mass in the space of the adnexa of the right parametrium. Histopathological examination revealed features compatible with a leiomyoma. It is clear that physicians need to assess clinical findings and imaging techniques in order to establish a correct diagnosis of parasitic myomas, even when a history of myomectomy or a laparoscopic morcellation is absent.Rhabdomyolysis is a potentially life-threatening condition in which skeletal muscle breaks down, resulting in the release of myoglobin and creatine kinase (CK) in the blood; CK accumulation can lead to kidney failure and death. Several case reports have reported incidences of levetiracetam (LEV)-induced rhabdomyolysis. However, there are currently no reports of new-onset rhabdomyolysis after restarting LEV in a patient who previously tolerated the medication with no side effects. In this report, we present the case of a 35-year-old male who developed rhabdomyolysis after being restarted on LEV following a generalized tonic-clonic seizure. The patient was loaded with LEV 1 g IV and subsequently restarted on LEV 500 mg PO BID immediately after admission, from which time his serum CK level began to steadily rise to a maximum of 47,078 U/L despite aggressive intravenous hydration. LEV was discontinued on day five of admission when it was suspected to be the cause of the elevated CK levels in the absence of other contributing factors. The patient's CK level decreased to 35,635 U/L on day six of admission and continued to decrease before reaching 5,556 U/L at discharge. It is important to closely monitor serum CK in patients initiating or restarting LEV. Other antiepileptic medications should be considered if CK levels remain persistently elevated without other inciting factors.The cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) analysis for screening fetal genetic anomalies has increased dramatically since its commercialization in 2011 worldwide. In the early weeks of pregnancy, it offers a hassle-free, non-invasive procedure of antenatal screening. It guides and protects mothers from undergoing unwanted risk-laden invasive prenatal testing. cffDNA testing is accurate at detecting the abnormal fetus chromosome among a large pool population. Transferase inhibitor Patau syndrome, Edward syndrome, and Down syndrome are currently being accurately screened by this method. Due to their sensitivity and specificity, they now have become the screening method of choice, approaching almost 100% in various studies with a large sample pool. The latest procedures to analyze cffDNA, like the new digital droplet polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) and sophisticated next-generation sequencing (NGS), have increased detection rates with decreased analyzing time. The latest techniques make it possible to screen large numbers of the population with faster report generation. Screening for Rh incompatibility and its timely prevention is now more accessible and more accurate with the help of cffDNA analysis. The problem arises when we deviate from the primary disease and start testing for anomalies not intended to be screened by cffDNA in the first place. Fetal sex chromosome aneuploidy screening by cffDNA is one area where the test gives mixed results either due to differences in machinery, laboratory parameters, or human error. Other rare occurrences like trisomes, such as trisomy 7, trisomy 16, trisomy 22, and a few microdeletion syndromes are also being screened but with less accuracy. Like every technology, cffDNA analysis is not entirely free of criticism. Its high testing cost, potential to accurately prognosticate the gender of the developing fetus and absence of standard testing practices will become an issue as the test becomes routine worldwide.
