We retrospectively analyzed data of 514 consecutive patients who had intracranial schwannomas (460 VS, 22 TS, 7 FS, and 25 JFS) and underwent SRS. The 5- and 10-year tumor control rates were 97% and 94% for VS, 100% and 100% for TS, 80% and 80% for FS, and 100% and 80% for JFS. Radiation-induced complications included one hydrocephalus for TS (4.5%), no cases for FS (0%), and one hydrocephalus and one lower palsy for JFS (8.0%). Through matched cohort analysis between patients with VS and each of the non-VS, we found no statistical difference in tumor control and radiation-induced adverse events. SRS seems to provide long-term tumor control with functional preservation for TS, FS and JFS and the efficacies are similar to VS.This review outlines recent preclinical and clinical advances in molecular imaging of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) with a focus on molecular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the extracellular matrix (ECM). In addition, developments in pharmacologic treatment of AAA targeting the ECM will be discussed and results from animal studies will be contrasted with clinical trials. Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is an often fatal disease without non-invasive pharmacologic treatment options. The ECM, with collagen type I and elastin as major components, is the key structural component of the aortic wall and is recognized as a target tissue for both initiation and the progression of AAA. Molecular imaging allows in vivo measurement and characterization of biological processes at the cellular and molecular level and sets forth to visualize molecular abnormalities at an early stage of disease, facilitating novel diagnostic and therapeutic pathways. By providing surrogate criteria for the in vivo evaluation of the effects of pharmacological therapies, molecular imaging techniques targeting the ECM can facilitate pharmacological drug development. In addition, molecular targets can also be used in theranostic approaches that have the potential for timely diagnosis and concurrent medical therapy. Recent successes in preclinical studies suggest future opportunities for clinical translation. However, further clinical studies are needed to validate the most promising molecular targets for human application.Supplemental blue/red lighting accelerated fruit coloring and promoted lycopene synthesis in tomato fruits. Tanespimycin Potassium (K) is the most enriched cation in tomato fruits, and its fertigation improved tomato yield and fruit color. However, the effects of supplemental lighting on K uptake and transport by tomatoes and whether supplemental lighting accelerates fruit coloring through enhancing K uptake and transport are still unclear. We investigated the effects of supplemental light-emitting diode (LED) lighting (SL; 100% red, 100% blue; 75% red combined 25% blue) on K uptake in roots and transport in the fruits as well as the fruit coloring of tomatoes (Micro-Tom) grown in an experimental greenhouse in hydroponics. The use of red SL or red combined blue SL enhanced K uptake and K accumulation as well as carotenoid (phytoene, lycopene, γ-carotene, and β-carotene) content in fruits by increasing photosynthesis, plant growth, and fruit weight. The genes related to ethylene signaling were upregulated by red SL. Quantiphotoreceptors, light signaling transcript factors as well as abscisic acid (ABA) transduction induced by blue SL or red combined blue SL were consistent with the upregulated genes of SlHAK6, SlHAK10, SlHAK15, and SlHAK19 under blue SL and red combined blue SL. The K transport in tomato fruits might be mediated by light signaling and ABA signaling transduction. These results provide valuable information for fruit quality control and the light regulating mechanism of K transport and fruit coloring in tomatoes.This study focused on understanding the cultural immersion experience of students who participated in Study Abroad Programs (SAP) and Global Service Learning Programs (GSL). The study looked at how the immersion experience impacted the participants' view of self and others upon re-entry into their local community. Specifically, we applied the perspective transformation theoretical framework to analyze the extent to which participation in cultural immersion programs transforms students' perceptions of self and others. The analysis of the semi-structured interviews suggested that by engaging in intentional immersion and guided reflections, participants became aware of the need to reevaluate their perspectives, expectations, and assumptions about self and others. We also found that there were differences in the way participants experienced the cultural immersion process and the impact it had on cultural awareness and self-identity.The most accurate prognostic approach for follicular lymphoma (FL), progression of disease at 24 months (POD24), requires two years' observation after initiating first-line therapy (L1) to predict outcomes. We applied machine learning to structured electronic health record (EHR) data to predict individual survival at L1 initiation. We grouped 523 observations and 1933 variables from a nationwide cohort of FL patients diagnosed 2006-2014 in the Veterans Health Administration into traditionally used prognostic variables ("curated"), commonly measured labs ("labs"), and International Classification of Diseases diagnostic codes ("ICD") sets. We compared performance of random survival forests (RSF) vs. traditional Cox model using four datasets curated, curated + labs, curated + ICD, and curated + ICD + labs, also using Cox on curated + POD24. We evaluated variable importance and partial dependence plots with area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). RSF with curated + labs performed best, with mean AUC 0.
