Women with gestational diabetes are 7 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes and require lifelong diabetes screening. Loss of health coverage after pregnancy, as occurs in states that did not expand Medicaid, limits access to guideline-driven follow-up care and fosters health inequity. To investigate out-of-field scattered doses from the Integral Quality Monitor (IQM) transmission detector in megavoltage photon beams.

We measured out-of-field point doses for 20×20cm
6-15 MV photon beams using 10×2cm
Gafchromic EBT3 film strips placed across the surfaces of 5-cm thick water-equivalent RW3 slabs. The films were placed at 10cm intervals from the central axis (CAX) of each beam, up to 1.0m away on opposite sides of the CAX. The measurements were conducted at 80cm and 100cm source-to-surface distances (SSD) without the IQM, and were repeated with the IQM in the paths of the beams. Measurements were also performed at 90cm SSD for 20×20 and 30×30cm
15MV fields. Surface dose profiles were then constructed from the measurements for each beam setup with and without the IQM to examine the differences in scattered dose off-axis. The dose profile for each beam setup was normalised to dose maximum measured on the CAX.

Overall, surface dose profiles acquired with the IQM in the paths of the beams were higher than the corresponding profiles without the IQM. The out-of-field dose increased with increase in photon energy, field size, and shorter SSDs, and decreased with off-axis distance. At 80cm SSD for the 20×20cm
field, the IQM-induced surface dose ranged from -0.6%÷1.9%, -0.3%÷3.0%, and 0.3%÷6.8% for 6, 10, and 15MV beams, respectively.

The higher surface dose profiles measured with the IQM attached to the linac compared to the profiles without the IQM indicates that the device is acting as an additional source of scattered radiation.

Two radionuclides of arsenic offer a well agreed theranostic systems namely 77As and 72As. Some arsenic radionuclides are capable of positron-emission, with range of hour to weeks half-lives and have potential to be used for nuclear medicine. Present work will elucidate the production of 72As on Germanium and Selenium via proton induced nuclear reactions. The experimental results obtained by several nuclear reactions were analyzed. The results of nuclear model codes namely ALICE-IPPE, EMPIRE-3.2.3 and TALYS-1.9 are compared with the experimental cross sections to generate recommended cross section data. Assessment of radionuclidic impurities are also studied and comparison of several radionuclidic impurities is done. To produce 72As,72Ge (p, n)72As, 73Ge (p, 2n)72As, 74Ge (p, 3n)72As and 76Se (p, x)72As reactions in different energy ranges are discussed. We have identified 72Ge (p, n)72As reaction; gives pre-eminent yield with least impurities mark it as feasible entrant to be applied in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and theranostic applications.The activation cross sections of deuteron induced reactions on natural ruthenium have been measured up to 50 MeV for production of radioisotopes of rhodium (105Rh, 102mRh,102gRh,101mRh,101gRh, 100gRh, 99mRh, 99gRh), ruthenium (105Ru,103Ru (cum), 102Ru (cum), 97Ru (cum), 95Ru (cum)) and of technetium (99mTc, 96gTc (m+), 95mTc (cum), 95gTc (cum), 94gTc,93gTc (m+)). The results are compared with the predictions of the most common theoretical nuclear reaction model codes (ALICE-D, EMPIRE-D and TALYS (TENDL)). From the measured cross section physical yields have been calculated for all measured radioisotopes. The medically important radioisotopes are discussed from the point of view of production routes by charged particle methods and other alternatives.
Renal hypoperfusion is a common mechanism of cardiac surgery-related acute kidney injury (CS-AKI). However, the optimal amount of volume resuscitation to correct systemic hypoperfusion and prevent the postoperative development of CS-AKI has been a subject of debate. The goal of this study was to assess the association of volume responsiveness determined by stroke volume variation using the passive leg raise test (PLRT) at chest closure, with the development of CS-AKI according to the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes criteria.

A total of 131 patients were studied from January 2015 until May 2017. All patients underwent cardiac surgery that required cardiopulmonary bypass. Volume responsiveness was assessed at chest closure using the PRLT. Stroke volume variation from the sitting to the recumbent positions was measured by transesophageal echocardiography. Fluid responsiveness was defined as an increase of >12% of stroke volume from sitting to recumbent positions.
