Five persons were asymptomatic. Of symptomatic persons, 21 (12%), 1 (4%) and 3 (12%) individuals had mild, moderate and severe disease, respectively. Three individuals died with COVID-19. In one case, the cause of death was due to COVID-19, whereas in the other two cases, the individuals died with positive COVID-19 test results but the immediate cause of death is unclear. PLWH who tested positive for COVID-19 had low socioeconomic status and had employment or living conditions that put them at high risk. PLWH may be disproportionately impacted by the social determinants of health which predispose them to COVID-19.
During COVID-19 lockdown the enforced social isolation and other pandemic-related changes highly increased the risk of mental health problems. We aimed to discover how elderly people coped with the psychological burdens of pandemic and the social isolation in Hungary.

This study included 589 (441 females) Hungarian individuals, aged 60-83 (
 = 68.1, SD = 4.46). We collected online survey data to reach a wide population of elderly. Results of hierarchical linear modelling and structural equation modelling (SEM) analyses established how the current life-changing circumstances, the intolerance of uncertainty, loneliness and social support influence the mental health (e.g. depression, anxiety, well-being) of the elderly. The model was used to explore how adaptive and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies mediated the effects.

Findings showed that perceived change in mood, social connectedness, and quality of life was negatively affected by catastrophizing and loneliness; whereas positive refocusing andping strategies among elderly for the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic in their lives.The association between patients' confidence in their ability to attend appointments and future retention in care has not previously been studied in a general HIV clinic. A survey of potential and known risk factors for poor retention was developed using validated screening tools and administered to 105 patients at an HIV clinic. Retention in care was assessed prospectively using two definitions (1) two appointments at least three months apart within one year ("HRSA/HAB retention") and (2) no missed appointments within one year ("missed visits retention"). Most patients were African American (86%) and male (59%). Although most patients were confident they could keep their HIV appointments (89%), fewer were retained (HRSA/HAB 73%; missed visits 56%). Patients' confidence in their ability to keep future appointments was not associated with retention. Employment was associated with lower odds of HRSA/HAB retention (aOR 0.26 [95% CI 0.09-0.77]), and childcare was a common barrier that was associated with lower odds of missed visits retention (aOR 0.06 [95% CI 0.006-0.62]). CMCNa Other known risk factors for poor retention were inconsistently associated with retention in care.Purpose The aim was to evaluate the effect of a motor-based, hierarchically structured intervention directed at active nasal fricatives substituting /s/ in young children with normal palatal function.Method An experimental single-subject design was replicated across three children, aged 4-6 years, with normal palatal function, who substituted oral /s/ with active nasal fricatives. Treatment was performed weekly by a speech-language pathologist and included home training conducted by parents. Audio documented probes were registered regularly and /s/-production evaluated as oral or nasal.Result All children achieved 98-100% oral production of /s/ in six probed linguistic contexts at treatment end and exhibited good maintenance at follow-up. The four-year-olds showed gradual or inconsistent response and slower progress, the six-year-old direct response and faster progress.Conclusion The study provides preliminary evidence suggesting positive intervention effects for treating active nasal fricatives in children with normal palatal function. However, possible confounding effects such as maturation or repeated testing could not be ruled out; thus, results need to be replicated with increased experimental control. Nevertheless, the study adds to the currently meagre empirical evidence-base for the population. There is evidence suggesting that the ability of Salmonella to use tetrathionate and 1,2-propanediol provides an advantage in murine infection. Thus, we present here the first study to evaluate both systemic infection and faecal excretion in commercial poultry challenged by Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and S. Typhimurium (STM) harbouring deletions in ttrA and pduA genes, which are crucial to the metabolism of tetrathionate and 1,2-propanediol, respectively. Mutant strains were excreted at higher rates when compared to the wild-type strains. The highest rates were observed with white egg-layer and brown egg-layer chicks (67.5%), and broiler chicks (56.7%) challenged by SEΔttrAΔpduA, and brown egg-layer chicks (64.8%) challenged by STMΔttrAΔpduA. SEΔttrAΔpduA presented higher bacterial counts in the liver and spleen of the three chicken lineages and caecal contents from the broiler chickens, whereas STMΔttrAΔpduA presented higher counts in the liver and spleen of the broiler and brown-egg chickens for 28 days post-infection (P  less then  0.05). The ttrA and pduA genes do not appear to be major virulence determinants in faecal excretion or invasiveness for SE and STM in chickens. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTSttrA and pudA do not impair gut colonization or systemic infection in chicks.Mutant strains were present in higher numbers in broilers than in laying chicks.Mutants of SE and STM showed greater pathogenicity in broiler chicks than layers.
