We found that UMI-77 can bind MCL1 and enhance its function as a mitophagy receptor protein, thus enhancing its interaction with LC3A to induce mitophagy. UMI-77 effectively improves the cognitive decline seen in an AD mouse model. Our findings shed light on the novel mechanisms of mitophagy, reveal that MCL1 is a mitophagy receptor that can be targeted to induce mitophagy, and identify MCL1 as a drug target for therapeutic intervention in AD.

To assess sensory and nociceptive pathways in this patient, a neurophysiological assessment was performed using electroencephalogram, nerve conduction studies, and somatosensory and laser-evoked potentials. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first published case report to evaluate the role of evoked potential assessments for the study of sensory and nociceptive pathways in MS.

The COVID-19 pandemic has required a shift of many routine primary care visits to telemedicine, potentially widening disparities in care access among vulnerable populations. In a publicly-funded HIV clinic, we aimed to evaluate a pre-visit phone-based planning intervention to address anticipated barriers to telemedicine.

We conducted a pragmatic randomized controlled trial of patients scheduled for a phone-based HIV primary care visit at the Ward 86 HIV clinic in San Francisco from 15 April to 15 May 2020. Therefore, we aimed to determine the prognostic value of the expression of embryonic molecular markers in histologically-negative lymph nodes of completely-resected NSCLC.

The molecular-positive lymph nodes lead to the restaging of 37 (62%) pN0 patients as molecular N1 or N2 and 5 (31%) pN1 cases were reclassified as molecular-positive N2. Surprisingly, molecular-positive patients associated with a better OS (overall survival, p = 0,04). FGFR2b overexpression was observed in 41 (12%) lymph nodes leading to the restaging of 17 patients (22%). Again a trend was observed toward a better DFS (disease-free survival) in the restaged patients (p = 0,09). Accordingly, high expression levels of CEACAM5 or FGFR2b in the primary were related to better DFS (p = 0,06; p < 0,02, respectively).

To investigate the effect of stereotactic radiofrequency thermocoagulation in the globus pallidus internus on refractory tic disorders.

Forty patients with refractory tic disorders were enrolled between January 2015 and July 2017 to experience stereotactic radiofrequency thermocoagulation in the globus pallidus internus. All clinical data, Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) scores, serum dopamine (SDA), and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) were analyzed.

Radiofrequency thermocoagulation was successfully performed in all patients. Periprocedural complications occurred in two patients (5.0%), one with fever (2.5%) and one with a urination disorder (2.5%); both returned to normal after treatment. After 12 months of follow-ups, excellent improvement was exhibited in 18 patients (45.0%), marked improvement in 10 (25.0%), good improvement in 9 (22.5%), and invalid in 3 (7.5%), with a total efficacy rate of 92.5% (37/40). Twenty-eight patients (70%) showed excellent or marked improvement without additional treatment after surgery.
