Post-traumatic diaphragmatic rupture is a lesion of variable severity. It is a rare and difficult to diagnose pathology, it has been found in 0.4% of all traumatized patients and in 1.9% of blunt traumas. It can be associated with abdominal andthoracic lesions, particularly cardiac, which can be life-threatening.
Our work is a retrospective case report with a descriptive aim concerning a patient operated for a post-traumatic diaphragmatic rupture within the department of general surgery of CHU Ibn Rochd Casablanca. This work has been reported in line with the SCARE 2020 criteria (17).
A 60-year-old patient was admitted to the visceral surgical emergency department following a work accident (crushing between two carts) causing a thoraco-abdominal impact point trauma without initial loss of consciousness, nor externalized digestive hemorrhage or associated signs, but with a general condition alteration. The patient was conscious, dyspneic with a blood pressure of 100/50mmHg and afebrile. Physical examinate respiratory distress and diffuse abdominal pain, as it can be asymptomatic. Its diagnosis is essentially radiological using CT scan, and requires emergency surgical treatment as soon as the diagnosis is suspected, in order to avoid the dreaded complications. Cutaneous horns are nodules composed of compact keratin that project above the surface of the skin. The purpose of this work is to show the danger that can constitute the cutaneous horns.
In this paper, the authors report series of three cases of facial cutaneous horns, which were respectively diagnosed as trichilemmal horn in a 79-years old patient, a cutaneous horn underlying epidermoid carcinoma in a 59-years old patient, and a basal cell carcinoma in an 80-years old patient. All patients were treated by surgical excision.

Isolated Colon injury due to blunt abdominal trauma is very rare. Due to lack of a definitive diagnostic method; it's very challenging to detect such injury and this will lead to delay in treatment and subsequently resulting in high morbidity and mortality. The current literature is relatively sparse concerning the management of blunt colon injuries.
Here, we report a case of a 17-year-old male patient with isolated sigmoid injury presented 5days after MVC. He underwent sigmoid resection and end colostomy followed by reversal 6weeks later. Currently, the patient is disease-free with a completely healed wound.

Hemiparesis caused by otogenic brain abscess in children is an unusual complication of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media. Complications can occur when the disease is not treated properly so that the infection in the middle ear spreads intracranially.
We report a case of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media with cholesteatoma in a 14-year-old boy with complications of right hemiparesis caused by an otogenic brain abscess. His management included open craniotomy, drainage of the abscess, radical mastoidectomy and intravenous antibiotics according to the result of the culture and sensitivity.
Commonly, the location of the abscess is closely related to the source of infection. Affected brain lobes usually depend on predisposing factors that cause the development of brain abscesses. In this case, clinical manifestations appear in the form of contralateral hemiparesis even though the source of infection comes from the ear. This can occur due to massive abscesses and the presence of extensive perifocal edema which results in pressure in the subcortex area. The patient underwent radical mastoidectomy in conjunction with an abscess excision craniotomy.

Although IGF-1 is known to promote organ growth, including exocrine pancreas, the association between plasma IGF-1 levels and pancreatic size remains unclear in diabetic patients.
This cross-sectional study was designed to investigate the correlations among pancreatic volume (PV) based on computed tomography, IGF-1 levels, age- and sex-adjusted IGF-1 levels (IGF-1 Z-score), and C-peptide levels in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) (n=51) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) (n=104) in a Japanese population.
PV was significantly correlated with body weight (BW) in both types of diabetes. PV adjusted for BW (PV/BW), IGF-1 Z-score and C-peptide levels were significantly lower in patients with T1D than T2D. There was a significant positive correlation between C-peptide levels and PV/BW in both subtypes of diabetes. IGF-1 Z-scores were significantly correlated with PV/BW in patients with T1D (r=0.37, P=0.007), but not T2D. Although IGF-1 Z-scores were not correlated with age, age of disease onset, disease duration, HbA1c, or C-peptide levels in both types of diabetes, a multivariable liner regression analysis revealed that IGF-1 Z-score and C-peptide levels were independent correlates of PV/BW in T1D patients, while C-peptide levels were a sole correlate in T2D.

BDE-209 is an endocrine disruptor for hypothyroidism, but the toxicity mechanism is unclear. Here, the histopathology and transcriptome sequencing of thyroid tissue from broiler chicks were investigated by supplemental feeding with different concentrations of BDE-209 for 42 days (0-4 g/kg in basal diet), followed by determining the levels of thyroid hormones in serum. The results showed ruptured and even hyperplastic follicular epithelial cells in the thyroid, and a total of 501 differentially expressed genes were screened out 222 upregulated and 279 downregulated. Based on the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes database, neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction pathway was significantly enriched, and α1D-adrenergic receptor, follicle-stimulating hormone receptor, thyroid stimulating hormone receptor, and somatostatin receptor type 2 were shown to be candidate biomarkers. Thyroxine was a possible biomarker due to clear reduction in serum and significant correlation with exposure concentrations. These results suggested that oral intake of BDE-209 can cause structural injuries and even hyperplasia, and affect gene transcription involved in the neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction pathway of thyroid, as well as thyroid hormones in serum.
Studies investigating the association between pesticide exposure and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk have been inconclusive.
Investigate the association between pesticide exposure and CRC risk through a systematic literature review.
CRC has the fourth-highest rate of cancer-caused death in the US after lung cancer, breast cancer in women, and prostate cancer in men. Here we have conducted a systematic literature search on studies examining the association between any pesticide exposure and CRC risk using PubMed, MEDLINE via EBSCO host, and Embase according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist.
Following the review, 139 articles were included for qualitative evaluation. Study participants were farmers, pesticide applicators, pesticide manufacturers, spouses of pesticide applicators, farm residents, Korean veterans of the Vietnam War, rural communities, and those who consumed food with pesticide residues. The studies' results were split between those with signciated elevated risk of CRC, but also for the current legal usage in the United States (US). Aldicarb and dieldrin are of moderate concern for the positive associations with CRC risk, and also for the illegal usage or the detection on imported food products even though they have been banned in the US. Pesticides can linger in the soil, water, and air for weeks to years and, therefore, can lead to exposure to farmers, manufacturing workers, and those living in rural communities near these farms and factories. Approximately 60 million people in the US live in rural areas and all of the CRC mortality hotspots are within the rural communities. The CRC mortality rate is still increasing in the rural regions despite the overall decreasing of incidence and mortality of CRC elsewhere. Therefore, the results from this study on the relationship between pesticide exposure and CRC risk will help us to understand CRC health disparities.
