Behavioural change is a time-consuming process. © 2020 Köpsén and Sjöström.Purpose To determine the prevalence and demographic risk factors for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) among healthcare workers in Semarang, Indonesia. Methods A cross-sectional study involving 195 healthcare workers from 34 primary health centers was conducted from August to October 2019. The relationship between independent variables and dependent variables was analyzed using a multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results The prevalence of LTBI among healthcare workers in this study was 23.6%. Comorbidities were the only risk factor for LTBI identified among other risk factors (OR=3.39, 95% CI 0.99-11.62, p=0.04). Other demographic factors such as age (OR=0.93, 95% CI 0.45-1.92, p=0.839), gender (OR=0.79, 95% CI 0.23-2.72, p=0.708, smoking habits (OR=2.54, 95% CI 0.52-12.38, p=0.247), and length of work (OR=1.43, 95% CI 0.70-2.91, p=0.331) were not significant risk factors for LTBI. Conclusion Healthcare workers suffering from comorbidity have a high risk for tuberculosis infection, and should not work in areas where they would be exposed to patients with tuberculosis. Healthcare workers need to apply occupational safety standards during contact with TB patients or specimens to minimize the disease transmission. © 2020 Erawati and Andriany.Background The importance of effective clinical supervision for emerging clinicians is well recognised, not only for practice preparation, but also for reducing future attrition rates. Also recognised are the challenges faced by both students and supervisors during the supervision experience. This study aimed to identify the qualities of the "ideal" clinical supervision environment from the perspective of clinical supervisors from both nursing and allied health. Design A qualitative study using an interview method based on action research. Methods The convergent interview method was used with 20 clinical supervisors and educators from nursing and allied health across Victoria. Interviews were recorded and data analysis occurred at the end of each pair of interviews to develop deeper questions in line with the method. Results 12 major themes emerged as "ideal" qualities with a range of suggestions on how these can be achieved. Conclusion The "ideal" qualities can be used in assessing and improving current contexts, as well as designing new clinical supervision processes, models, programs and guidelines or policies. Patients and Methods A retrospective comparative study was conducted on the safety between the lateral and prone positions in cervical laminoplasty. After screening, 466 patients who underwent cervical laminoplasty at a single medical center were enrolled and categorized into the lateral (n=229) and prone (n=237) groups. Oprozomib molecular weight Data on positioning time, surgical time, blood loss, complication rates, and surgical outcomes were collected and compared between the two groups. The patients were further divided into underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obesity subgroups according to their body mass index, and the collected data were compared between the lateral and prone groups. Results The lateral group had a lower incidence of facial pressure ulcers (2.18%) than the prone group (11.39%). However, positioning time, surgical time, blood loss, and surgical outcomes were not significantly different between the two groups. In the subgroup analysis, no significant difference in positioning time, operative time, and blood loss was observed in the underweight, normal weight, and overweight patients between the two groups, but in the obesity subgroup, the lateral group had a significantly shorter positioning time (15.23±6.44 vs 21.63±9.43 min, P=0.045) and operative time (140.16±40.48 vs 178.62±51.82 min, P=0.037) and lesser blood loss (285.31±171.75 vs 430.46±189.84 mL, P=0.044) than the prone group. Conclusion The lateral position is as safe as the prone position for cervical laminoplasty, but it has advantages over the prone position for patients with obesity. © 2020 Du et al.Introduction Preservation of endodontically treated teeth (ETT) depends upon several patient-related and operator-related factors. The objectives of this study were to assess the effects of different types of coronal restoration and delayed placement on ETT survival. Methods Data on dates of root canal treatment (RCT), restoration type, and extraction time of tooth, when applicable, were analyzed for all patients who underwent RCT from 2010 to 2018 at our institution. Inclusion Criteria Root canal-treated teeth with complete preoperative and postoperative radiographs; ETT that were restorable and received final permanent coronal restorations; no periodontal disease or crack detected during RCT; and ETT with acceptable RCT quality. Exclusion Criteria Patients who did not attend for follow-up, those had incomplete information available about the coronal restoration, and those with periodontally compromised teeth were excluded. ETT that involved any procedural error were also excluded. The teeth were categorized according to whether they underwent definitive coronal restoration 0-14 days, 15-59 days, or 60+ days after RCT.
