The integration of dissimilar 2D materials is important for nanoelectronic and thermoelectric applications. Among different polymorphs and different bond geometries, borophene and graphdiyne (GDY) are two promising candidates for these applications. In the present paper, we have studied hetero-bilayers comprising graphdiyne-borophene (GDY-BS) sheets. Three structural models, namely S0, S1and S2have been used for borophene sheets. The optimum interlayer distance for the hetero-bilayers was obtained through binding energy calculations. Then, the structure and electronic properties of the monolayers and hetero-bilayers were individually examined and compared. GDY monolayer was shown to be a semiconductor with a band gap of 0.43 eV, while the borophene monolayers, as well as all studied hetero-bilayers showed metallic behavior. The thermoelectric properties of borophene and GDY monolayers and the GDY-BS bilayers were calculated on the basis of the semi-classical Boltzmann theory. The results showed signs of improvement in the conductivity behavior of the hetero-bilayers. Furthermore, considering the increase in Seebeck coefficient and the conductivity for all the structures after calculating figure of merit and power factor, a higher power factor and more energy generation were observed for bilayers. These results show that the GDY-BS hetero-bilayers can positively affect the performance of thermoelectric devices.Manganese-doped ceria nanoparticles were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and the prepared samples were thermally treated at 500 °C for 2 h. The samples were investigated using x-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), N2adsorption and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XRD revealed that nanocrystalline ceria is the main phase in all samples, while a romanechite-like phase (Na2Mn5O10) appears in the sample doped with 30% of Mn. TEM coupled with EDS exposed the presence of the same phase in the sample doped with 20% Mn. While ceria particles have spherical morphology and particle size ranging from 4.3 to 9.2 nm, the rare crystals of the romanechite-like phase adopt a tubular morphology with a length of at least 1μm. However, the decrease in the ceria lattice constant and the EDS spectra of the ceria nanoparticles clearly indicate that a substantial amount of manganese entered the ceria crystal lattice. Manganese doping has a beneficial impact on the specific surface area of ceria. XPS measurements reveal a decrease in the Ce3+/Ce3+ + Ce4+content in the doped samples which is replaced by Mn3+. Moreover, a drastic increase in adsorbed oxygen is observed in the doped samples which is the consequence of the increase in Mn3+species that promotes oxygen migrations to the surface of the sample. Compared to the pure sample, the doped samples showed significantly higher catalytic activity for the process of toluene oxidation.Structural color has been studied through various methods due to its distinguished features of stability, durability, high information storage density and high integration. However, the artificial structural color samples do not exhibit superior performance in color saturation and low angular dependence. Here, we present an approach to acquire additive reflective color based on a metal-dielectric-metal (MDM) stack. The upper layer composed of Ag particles is perforated in a hexagonal arrangement which profits from the dielectric anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) membrane. The size and shape of the Ag particles are getting inhomogeneous as the deposition thickness of the upper layer increasing, which expands the desired absorption range of surface plasmons. The residual non-anodized Al foil serves as a highly reflective substrate for efficient color presenting through the thin-film interference in this plasmonic MDM system. As a result, the color gamut area of this MDM stack is extended 8 times in CIE chromaticity coordinates. Finally, a wafer-scale (diameter of 83 mm) badge of Harbin Engineering University (HEU) with highly saturated colors and a pattern characterized with low angle-dependent property (up to 60°) are presented, which exhibit promising prospects in commercial coloring and imaging.Hollow mesoporous nanospheres MoO2/C are successfully constructed through metal chelating reaction between molybdenum acetylacetone and glycerol as well as the Kirkendall effect induced by diammonium hydrogen phosphate. MoO2nanoparticles coupled by amorphous carbon are assembled to unique zigzag-like hollow mesoporous nanosphere with large specific surface area of 147.7 m2g-1and main pore size of 8.7 nm. The content of carbon is 9.1%. As anode material for lithium-ion batteries, the composite shows high specific capacity and excellent cycling performance. At 0.2 A g-1, average discharge capacity stabilizes at 1092 mAh g-1. At 1 A g-1after 700 cycles, the discharge capacity still reaches 512 mAh g-1. Impressively, the composite preserves intact after 700 cycles. Even at 5 A g-1, the discharge capacity can reach 321 mAh g-1, exhibiting superior rate capability. Various kinetics analyses demonstrate that in electrochemical reaction, the proportion of the surface capacitive effect is higher, and the composite has relatively high diffusion coefficient of Li ions and fast faradic reaction kinetics. Excellent lithium storge performance is attributed to the synergistic effect of zigzag-like hollow mesoporous nanosphere and amorphous carbon, which improves reaction kinetics, structure stability and electronic conductivity of MoO2. By taking advantage of the tunability in pitch, diameter and feature-to-feature separation of the self-assembled BCP features, complex, laterally organized- and stacked- multicomponent nanoarrays comprising of gold and polymer have been fabricated. The approaches not only demonstrate nanopatterning of up to two levels of hierarchy but also investigate how a variation in the feature-to-feature gap at the first hierarchy affects the self-assembly of polymer features at the second. Such BCP self-assembly enabled multicomponent nanoarray configurations are rarely achieved by other nanofabrication approaches and are particularly promising for pushing the boundaries of block copolymer lithography and in creating unique surface architectures and complex morphologies at the nanoscale.We study the non-equilibrium evolution of binary Bose-Einstein condensates in the presence of a weak random potential with Gaussian correlation function using the time-dependent perturbation theory. We apply this theory to construct a closed set of equations that highlight the role of the spectacular interplay between the disorder and the interspecies interactions in the time evolution of the density induced by disorder in each component. It is found that this latter increases with time favoring localization of both species. The time scale at which the theory remains valid depends on the respective system parameters. We show analytically and numerically that such a system supports a steady state that periodically changing during its time propagation. The obtained dynamical corrections indicate that disorder may transform the system into a stationary out-of-equilibrium states. Understanding this time evolution is pivotal for the realization of Floquet condensates.We investigate the dynamic optical transition of monolayer silicene in the presence of external electric and exchange fields within the low-energy tight-binding model. Applying external electric and exchange fields breaks the silicene band structure spin and valley degeneracies. Three phases of silicene corresponding to different strengths of perpendicular electric field with respect to the spin-orbit coupling (Δz Δso) are considered. We obtain the spin-valley-dependent optical responses to the incoming circularly polarized light using the Kubo formula. We show and discuss how the magnitude and direction of the transverse and longitudinal optical responses of such a system change with the electric and exchange fields. Our calculations suggest that the intraband part of the longitudinal optical response as well as the initial point of the interband part have strong dependencies on the exchange field. Furthermore, we show that one of the spin subbands plays a dominant role in the response to polarized light. Depending on the type of incident light polarization, the dominant subband may change. Semi-annual community treatment with albendazole has been continued in the community since October 2015. We conducted an additional parasitological assessment survey in October 2019, 6 months after the 14th round of semi-annual treatment. Between October 2012 and October 2015, Wuchereria bancrofti antigenemia and microfilaremia rates in the community had decreased from 17.3% to 4.7% and from 5.3% to 0.3%, respectively. Incidence estimates are needed to characterize the disease burden. Using hybrid surveillance-coupling case-finding at two referral hospitals and healthcare utilization data-we estimated the incidences of acute Q fever and SFGR in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, from 2007 to 2008 and from 2012 to 2014.
